If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Survivor

Survivor was fun last night. I loved the 2 challenges. I really like to watch the physical challenges. And Brendan found the immunity idol. Good for him. So far I like him. But it's still to early to pick who I want to win.

However, I was kind of sad to see Jerry go last night. I liked him. I hated it that he was sick. Now as far as I'm concerned Coach or Erinn either one could be voted off and I wouldn't care. But it's still early and that thought could change.

So what are your thoughts?

A Really Good Book

The Convenient Groom
A Nantucket Love Story
April 2008
From Thomas Nelson

Written by Denise Hunter

I just finished reading this book and it is really, really good. If you enjoy light christian romance, this is really worth a read. My sister read it and told me how good it is and then loaned it to us. KLS read it in 1 day (she is very, very fast) and then I read it. It's taken me over a week (I'm very, very slow). In fact, I stayed up until almost 1:00 last night to finish it, knowing I had to get up for work today and then had church tonight. Needless to say, I've been a little sluggish today. But knowing me, I'd do it again.

The female lead in the story is a relationship therapist who wrote a book about finding the right mate. The book was coming out on her planned wedding date. You guessed it, her groom walked out the morning of the wedding and left her more or less at the altar. Her friend offered to marry her (as the groom's name had been kept secret from the public) she took him up on it and the rest makes for a very good story. So if you're looking for something fun to read, try this and let me know what you think.

I think I'll go to bed now and try to make up for the lack of sleep last night. :)

Retro Wednesday

OhAmanda is trying a little different Wordless Wednesday Photo Thingy. She would like to see black and white retro like photos. This is a photo of my grandparents. What's humorous to me is my daughter has her hair cut a lot like. Hers is just longer (mainly because she's had the cut for about 2-3 months now.) Isn't it strange how the fads always seem to come back. Why don't you join us at OhAmanda for this.

Random Pics and Thoughts

KJS playing her final basketball game of the season. They won!!

Lily. I love my dog! Doesn't she look comfy amidst all the blankets and quilts? (I can't believe I'm showing a picture of my unmade bed) Is this being real and honest enough? Maybe a little too real. :)

I need to go do my Esther homework. I'm on week 6 day 2. Our group study of this starts next Tuesday. I can't wait. I'm so ready to get to share this with others!

Have a great day everyone, Oh wait, I guess it's night, so have a great night everyone. Talk to you again soon!

Facebook

Facebook!

Do you or don't you? I do, for about 4 or 5 months. It seems in just the last month or so and very large part of my family have come to Facebook. We have about 60 or so members of mine and my husband's family that we've found so far. I have a cousin in Greece that I haven't seen in probably 10 years or so and a cousin in England that I haven't seen for a couple years. I have and Aunt and Uncle in Arizona that I see just once or twice a year, cousins that are just 20 minutes or so away, but still don't see but a couple times a year, if that. We are having so much fun getting caught up. We're sharing pictures of our families and we get on almost every evening and comment back and forth and even if I don't say anything to anyone it's fun to just read what they're talking about or look at their family pictures. It kind feels like we're participating in a Family Reunion. I love it!!!

We're also starting to use it in our ministry. We've found it's a way to let people know what's going on in our Church and also to get messages to our church members during the week. My hubby's also tried to get some discussions going with church members. We're all pretty new to Facebook, but it's a start and we're having some fun with it.

So what do you think of Facebook?

Survivor

Anybody out there watching Survivor? I love this show. Of course, we have the Guardian Protection on our TV which deletes most of the raunchy language. If we didn't have that, I probably wouldn't watch it. I just hate to let that kind of talk into my house through the TV. If I don't talk that way and I don't let my kids talk that way, why would I let the TV talk that way. Anyway, that's enough of that.

I love to watch most of the physical challenges! Now, I have a little problem when they make them eat weird stuff for a contest, but all in all I really enjoy the show. They show some of the most exotic places. However, I must admit tonight was all good except when some of them decided to eat some termites because they needed some protein. I'm sorry, that is only the second show in this series and they are already hungry enough to eat termintes!?! Yuck! I mean come on they still had beans and rice, why termites? Ewwwwww!

So far in the 1st 2 shows they have totally back-doored 2 players and voted them off and they seemed to have no idea it was going to happen. So far, I agree with their picks. Can't wait to see what happens next week!

So do you all watch Survivor? And if you do, have you picked a favorite yet? I haven't yet. It takes me a little while to decide who I do and don't like. What do you think?

Nerds!

According to KLS, her daddy and I are complete nerds now. We are both hooked on a computer game called "Around the World in 80 Days" that hubby recently downloaded. (shh don't tell anyone), but that could be part of the reason I've been posting a little less lately. :) No, that can't be it. I guess we probably do look a little silly. I use the desktop computer which is in our room and then hubby's sitting behind me on the edge of the bed using the laptop. We've temporarily set up our craft table there. So here we are, at our age sitting in our room with both of us playing that game at the same time! Nerdy?!? Maybe so! But we're having fun, so who cares? I guess we'll grow up some day. NOT!!!

So, are we the only ones, or do any of the rest of you get hooked on these kinds of games too? If so, what do you play?

Have a great day everyone!!

Anniversary

Tomorrow is our 20th Anniversary. Since it's on a Wednesday (work and church pretty much take up the whole day) this year, we went out to lunch together yesterday to celebrate. We left the girls home to order in pizza since they didn't have school, so they were happy. It was so nice to go out with just the 2 of us. We had a great lunch at Red Lobster and then did a Wally World and Sam's trip. I know it's not romantic, but it was really nice with just us 2 talking and sharing and being together.

Anytime I can be alone with my man, is a good time!!

Disney

Mulan and Mushu at EPCOT
KJS & KLS at Magic Kingdom on the bridge between Tomorrow Land and the Castle
KLS and Pocohantas at Animal Kingdom
Cinderella's Castle!

EPCOT.
We're talking about going back this year to Disney World. Usually we go every 2 or 3 years. We were just there in August, but are considering going back again. I keep thinking we should go somewhere less expensive this year, but we have a special offer for 40% off a hotel rate and are having a hard time passing that up. We'll see. Anyway, it's fun to look back through the pictures and remember our last trip and dream about a future one.

Tag and Getting to Know You

Erica from Scottsville had this and told anyone who liked it, to consider themselves tagged. It looked like fun, so I thought I'd try it.

Here are the rules:1. Respond and Rework - answer the questions on your own blog, then replace your least fave question with a new one, and add one more question of your own.2. Tag at least 4 other un-tagged bloggers!
Here we go:

A. A red and cream printed top and blue pants.
Q. What's the last thing you read/are currently reading?
A. "Missouri"
Q. Do you nap a lot?
A. Not a lot, but once in a while, although this is one of my favorite things to do on a Sunday afternoon!
Q. Who is the last person you hugged?

Q. What is your most challenging goal right now?
A. Learning to be more patient and kinder to my kids.

Q. If you could have a house - fully furnished and anywhere in the world - where would it be?
A. On a beach on the gulf side of Florida.

Q. What is your favorite item of clothing?
A. I honestly can't think of ONE favorite.

A. Deep Fried Shrimp

Now I'm going to do what Erica did instead of following the rules and tagging other bloggers, I'm just going to invite any of my followers who enjoyed this little TAG game to play along themselves and pass on the fun! Besides, its a great way for me to get to know each of you. :)

Hello

Sorry I haven't been around much the last couple of days. I've had that stomach bug that's been going around. I seem to be all better now. Thank you, God! So far, no one else in the family has gotten it and I pray they don't. It's not fun! haha

I just finished week 4 of the Esther study. All I can say is, Wow!! It's awesome so far! I can't wait for our ladies' group to start it next month. It is going to be so great to get to do this with the other women. We have so much fun together and learn so much. I feel like I'm learning a lot doing it by myself/ But I find when I do a study with other women, I get so many other perspectives. They just bring so many more life experiences to it and I always learn so much more.

Well, I gotta go to work. Have a great day everyone!

Growing Up

My girls are growing up. I mean I know that's what's supposed to happen, but I'm not sure I'm ready! I thought I was ready for it to happen, but now I'm not so sure.

Last night our oldest daugther, KLS, was in our room making out her schedule for her Senior year of high school. Wait a minute, wasn't it just yesterday she was in kindergarten? How in the world did we get to scheduling her Senior year. And to make matters even worse, she is going to take her ACT test tomorrow! ACT test!?! Wait a minute that's to prepare for college. No way is my baby ready for college. It can't be!! Actually, that's probably not true. She's probably ready, but I'm not sure I am!!

Now, KJS is going on a ski trip this weekend with her youth group. Now, I ask you who would take a five year old on a ski trip?!?. Oh wait a minute, she's not 5 she's 14!! How did that happen?!? Who let these girls grow up behind my back?!!

My babies aren't babies anymore. They've grown into sweet young women and I'm happy for them. Fortunately for me, they still let me see the little girl in them once in a while. So I guess I'll continue to let them grow up and spread their wings without Momma hanging on so tight.
All you moms of young children, enjoy these years with your babies, because they pass so quickly.

Girls, You'll always be my Princesses. I love you and I'm so proud to be your mother.

The Sun is Shining!

We received 2 phone calls this morning telling us both girls' schools would be closed for the day. Yes, that's right. You guessed it. More snow! Yuck. Again, I had to get up and everyone else could stay in bed. I really don't like that. I know I've complained about that before. Anyway, I made it to work safely, with no problems driving. Thank You, Lord.

So, now I'm eating lunch at my desk and I have a window in my office (which I'm so thankful for) and it's beautiful outside now. It's no longer snowing. The sun is shining and the sky is so blue! I love it like this. I don't even mind the snow on the ground or the cold when the sun shines! I don't even mind that I'm at work and everyone else is home. My whole demeanor changes when the sun shines.

I think I need to work on remembering that even when the sun isn't shining, the Son is shining! Then maybe I wouldn't be so moody on a day like this one started out to be.

Thank You Lord for the reminder.

I Have Nothing!

Hi everyone.
I have nothing to say today!
Nothing is wrong!
Nothing bad is happening.
Nothing is making me mad.
Nothing is making me sad!
Nothing is not necessarily bad, except it makes for a boring blog post!
I just have nothing to say that's interesting to anyone, even me!
In fact, I had nothing yesterday too.

So I'll just say Hi and Goodbye
And I'll go check out all your posts today.
Have a good day!

Fireproof

We (all four of us) went to see the movie Fireproof last night. The church where my daughters attend youth showed the movie and invited anyone who wanted to come. Let me tell you, it was a really great movie. I know it's about marriage relationships, but it really speaks to any kind of relationship. It's not just for married people. My daughers really enjoyed it too.
The movie just made it so clear that we first have to have a relationship with Jesus Christ before we can truly love someone else the way they deserve to be loved. When we love Christ and really realize how much He loves us (and this is the key, HE LOVES US) then we can learn to love others, whether that be our spouse, our child, our parent, or our friends.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." That just blows me away, that God gave His Son to save me. Me! Wow! And He gave His Son to save You too. Grab onto that and believe Him and then your other relationships can become what they were meant to be.
So if you get the opportunity to see Fireproof, I would strongly recommend it.
