Growing Up

Sometime it's so hard to grow up. You see, Kelli will soon be 18 and her daddy and I are trying to grow up so we'll be ready for that. We're finding that it's very difficult to pull back and let her make some of her own decisions about life. We still want to treat her like a child, but by law she will soon be an adult!?! And pray tell, how in the world did that happen?

This weekend was pretty interesting. First of all Kelli left on Friday before I got home. Her dad took her to a friend's house and she was with her until late Saturday evening. The other 3 of us on Saturday went out for lunch and ran errands. We celebrated Tracy's birthday (which was Tuesday) by taking him out to the lunch of his choice. He picked The Old Spaghetti Warehouse. The food was good and the company even better.

Then Sunday morning we had Sunday School and Church and then Kerri and I went home to take care of the dog because we had 2 more services to attend that day. Tracy and Kelli came later. Tracy then let me know that Kelli's new boyfriend asked him after church if he could date Kelli. Isn't that just the sweetest thing? He actually asked her daddy. I think that moved him up a few notches in her daddy's eyes. I know it did mine. That had to take a lot of nerve for a 17 year old boy to ask. Tracy said he told him as long as they kept Jesus in the middle of everything, it would be fine. He told him Kelli had a curfew of midnight and he said that's all right his curfew was 11:00P. I love it! That just cracked me up. So Kelli will be home at an even better time because he has to drive about 20-30 minutes to get home after dropping her off. God sure knows how to take care of things we worry about, doesn't he?

Now see, even though she's almost 18, we've never let her actually car date. Boys could meet her at church or youth or some event we were at or even go out to lunch with us on Sundays, but never car date. This is where the growing up part for Tracy and I is coming. up. I guess we're learning. Although, I'm just glad he asked her daddy and not me!!! lol

Oh My Goodness we're just beginning with this one and we have another one that's almost 15 and we'll have to start all over again. Tell me, does it get any easier?!?

At least they keep us on our knees praying, so I guess it's good for us!

Then Sings My Soul Saturday

I absolutely love this song and this performance. I hope you enjoy it too. One of my favorite lines in this song is: "All that I've done before, won't matter any more." I love that. When we repent and turn away from our sins, God never holds any of them against us again. Thank you Jesus!

SkyWatch Friday

I took these pictures a couple of weeks ago. I thought these birds on the wires were funny!

TCKK-Have you ever wondered?

Have you ever wondered what the TCKK in my title stands for? Probably not, but I thought I'd tell you anyway. lol

That is the initials of each of our first names starting with hubby, then me, then the girls. Not real original probably but it started several years ago when I was trying to come up with a name on the DISboards Community. I've always been pretty protective of what I put on the internet about personal information. Pictures yes, but not names and stuff (except I've been using my name on here for quite awhile). But I've been thinking about it and all four of us are on FB and we've used our real names and pictures there. And I'm getting tired of always using initials so I think I'll change to our first names here on my blog.

T - Tracy (formerly known here as hubby or dad)
C - Cathy (me or mom)
K - Kelli (formerly known here as KLS or oldest daughter)
K - Kerri (formerly known here as KJS or youngest daughter)

I'll change my side bar later, but now you know, even if you didn't want too. lol

Have a great day!

Wednesday's Walk Down Memory Lane

Come for a walk with me down Memory Lane!
And if you have a "Memory Lane" post, head on over to Scottsville to join in on the fun!

This is my brother and sister when we lived on the farm. Actually I'm not sure if I was born or not when this was taken. I was only 3 when we moved from the farm. Anyway this picture would have been taken in the mid to late 50's.

Paintings II

A couple weeks ago I posted some pictures of a painting done on the brick wall of an area Police Department. that were really cool. Well another neighboring town has paintings on several of their buildings in the downtown district. We were driving through the other night so I stopped and grapped some pictures for you. I don't know who the artist is or even if the same artist did them all, but I think they are truly awesome. You should be able to double click on them if you wan to see them bigger. Hope you enjoy!

This is my Great Grandma and Grandpa on their 50th Wedding Anniversary. According to the writing on the back of the picture (written by my grandmother) someone got her a robe and had her put it on and then they had her hold these flowers. I got this picture off of FB on my cousin's page. I love FB because I'm finding out things about my family I never knew. I've talked about this lady before on my blog. She was a great woman of faith. When she prayed, God definitely listened. My dad tells us stories about her praying and people being healed all the time. I wish I could have met her.

It's That Time of Year Again

It's come back again. That time of year when everything gets really hectic and summer's gone.

KJS had her first volleyball practice last night. By the way, she did really awesome in practice (not that I may be prejudiced or anything). Open house for her is Thursday evening. School starts Monday.

KLS had the class part of Driver's Ed last week and got a 98% on her written test (just missed one). Woohoo! She goes tomorrow to pick up her schedule for her Senior year. (when did she grow up so much?). Her school starts next Wednesday.

Our Women's Bible Study starts tonight. We're doing Beth Moore's "Living Beyond Yourself" on the Fruit of the Spirit. I'm really looking forward to this. I think it's one I need. I definitely need to learn to live beyond myself. I fall short in so many ways and I need the Lord to fill me and live in me more and more. How about you?

As you can tell, the rush has started, but I think it's great and I'm looking forward to an exciting year of growth and change for us.

Mean Mom

Forgive me Lord, for I am a mean mom. You don't think so? Well let me prove it to you.

Both girls were busy Friday night. KJS went to Kings Island with her cousins and KLS went and participated in the last night of Bible School that they were helping with all week at another church. After dropping them off, hubby and I went to Red Lobster for dinner before going to a family get together at my moms.

Now mind you, Red Lobster is one of my girls favorite places to eat. Hubby's and mine's too. Anyway, while sitting in Red Lobster I got the devious idea to send pictures to both girls of the food and have them guess where we were. Yep, I started with the drinks and salads and then the cheddar cheese biscuits (the biscuits are their favorite thing on the menu) and then the entrees. They guessed it and they were drooling, let me tell you. Both girls asked us to bring them a biscuit home. We were laughing and just enjoying our dinner. It's so nice to sometimes just be without kids when going out. We realized last week, that we'll be ok with empty-house syndrome someday. They were gone every night and we did fine. Now mind you, I'm not rushing them to leave, but we'll be ok.

Anyway, now if the pictures weren't mean enough, I walked out of the restaurant without any biscuits. We had a couple leftovers and I really was going to bring them home, but I forgot. That is why I'm a mean mom!! :)

I'd show you the pictures here, but I have no idea how to download them to the computer from my phone. hahaha

SkyWatch Friday

The above picture was taken tonight by hubby as we were on the way home. I stopped the car in the middle of the road so he could taken it.

The below picture was the other night while sitting in the parking lot waiting on the girls to come out after working at Bible School.

New Car

Well we finally got it. It's a 2005 Buick LaCrosse, really low mileage; and I'm the one that gets to drive it!!! Hubby is going to drive my van (it's beside the car in the picture below) and KLS will be driving hubby's old Buick LeSabre in just a couple months! I really did try to get hubby to take the new car and let me keep driving the van, but he wants me in the car. So I'll be driving the car. Woohoo!!! I swear, I must have the world's sweetest man!

Memory Lane

Wednesday's Walk Down Memory Lane

Come for a walk with me down Memory Lane!
And if you have a "Memory Lane" post, head on over to Scottsville to join in on the fun!

This is a photo of our girls with their grandpa (hubby's dad). I don't know the exact ages here, but I'd say they're about 2 and 5 which would make this photo from about 1997. This photo came from my mother-in-laws photo album. I'm not sure if she took it or I did. But I love the smiles on the girls' faces. They look like they're having fun.
