If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

The Time Has Come

Well, it's time. We have to take Kelli to NC for her summer job. I know she is excited and I know this will be good for her. She will learn so much and have so much fun working with kids all summer. All that makes this a little easier. But my mother's heart is going to miss her.

These past few weeks have been so fun having her home. Now admittedly, the volume level has been a lot higher in our home, but it's been nice to have both girls home at the same time. Between the laughing and hollering and music and TV and everything else, it has definitely been louder than normal! But that's okay, just to have them both together. Sometimes we'll go hours and not see them, but they'll be back in their rooms together talking and laughing. I'm so glad to see them learning to get along a lot better. Kelli's grown up a lot in the last year. I see such a wonderful young woman emerging! Kerri's growing up so fast too! Wow!, it seems they should be 3 and 6 again, not 17 and 20.

This is definitely the philosophy of my girls!

Life doesn't stop though, does it? But that's okay too. Kelli will work all summer and then we'll pick her up in August and take her back to school. We'll then take our vacation and then we won't see her again until Christmas time. Thank goodness for cell phones and Skype. They make things a little easier.

So, I won't be around for the next few days, but I'll try to get some pictures and I'll see you again on Monday!

Have a blessed weekend!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Click the button above to join in with Joyce for the fun of Hodgepodge.

1. What can the average citizen do to honor a military veteran and/or those currently serving?
A simple way is to pray for them and thank them when you see them.

2. Besides a flag what is something you own that is red, white and blue?
The gown I'm wearing has red, white and blue in it along with several other colors. And no, I won't show a picture. My daughters call it a muumuu. I just hope it's not because it makes me look like a cow! lol

3. Does love really conquer all?
Well, love is the basis of the 2 greatest commandments. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul and Love your neighbor as yourself. I think that pretty much covers it.

4. Strawberry shortcake or blueberry pie?
Strawberry shortcake!

5. Do you share personal stuff with your hairdresser?
When my hairdresser is my cousin, yes. But usually I just go to a walk-in place, so no!

6. Does money lead to selfishness?
No, not necessarily, but the love of money does!

7. What piece of furniture in your home most needs replacing or refinishing?
Our easy chairs in the living room.

8. Insert your own random here.

Friday Fragments / Bits of This and That

Mommy's Idea

Just thought I'd share some Bits and Pieces of things this week. Though I'd join in with the Friday Fragments at Half-Past Kissin' Time.

Isn't this the coolest sign.  Kelli drew and colored this for a friend's baby.  I love this.

My car hit 50,000 miles this week.  I thought that was cool and just had to take a picture.

I love my little pink iPod Shuffle.   Don't you just love little gadgets?

Here are the 4 flowers I bought and re-potted for my bread rack that's in front of the house.  Can't wait until they grow some and the other 2 start blooming.  I might buy a couple more plants for this rack.  Haven't decided yet.
We got the mulching finished tonight.  Thank goodness for Kelli and Kerri.  We would never have gotten it finished without them.  Kerri mowed the grass and Kelli did most of the mulch spreading.  Tracy and I cut open the bags of mulch and dumped them out for her.  Kelli and I trimmed the bushes and Tracy did the weed eating.

This is pretty much how I felt when we were finished!

Here's the front of the house with the black mulch down.  Love it when the grass is freshly mowed. Now I need the hanging baskets for the front porch, the American flag put out and the hummingbird feeder.
We're starting to see a lot of these again!  I love hot air balloons.

Kelli took this picture.  This wind chime hangs on our front porch.  I love the way the sun is shining through.

Kerri completed her classes yesterday!  She's now a Junior in High School!  Way to go Kerri

Well that's about all I have for now.  Hope you all have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Really, I'd Rather Be Reading!

Well, I've put it off as long as I can. Tonight we have to mulch. Thursday is Kerri's day to mow, so she'll be doing that. Last night I re-potted 4 new plants I bought. And tonight...tonight we have to do the dreaded mulch. I know it will so pretty when it's done, but I just hate doing it. I guess I'm just lazy. haha I'd rather be relaxing on the front porch and reading my Kindle.

Fortunately, Kelli is still home and will be there to help. So while Kerri is mowing the rest of us will be trimming a few bushes and putting down the mulch. If I have any energy left, I'll try to take some pictures. Actually, I may wait until the weekend because I still need a couple more flowers and 3 hanging baskets to complete the task.

So, what are your plans for the evening.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What's something you miss about the 1980's? If you're too young to miss the 80's how about the 90's?
Being in my 20's, and traveling as much as I possibly could.  Anytime, friends or family were going somewhere & invited me to go, I would jump at the opportunity.  Loved that kind of freedom.  Didn't owe anything, except car payments.

2. Do you have a library card? If so, how often do you visit?
Yes, I actually have 2 or 3.  I don't go much at all now because I have my Kindle.  But I have always loved the Library.  In fact, the last couple of books I got from the Library, I got online for my Kindle.

3. What's the secret to success?
Listening to God and obeying Him.

4. This is National Backyard Games week...what's your favorite backyard game?
Badminton, although I haven't played in years.

5. If I dropped by today what would I find on your coffee table?
My scrapbooks and wedding photo album.

6. Do you own a bicycle? When was the last time you rode a bicycle? Is that something you enjoy?
No, I don't own a bicycle, although I've considered getting one again.  One of the last times I rode, I fell off and tore up my knee.  Haven't really ridden much since then.  I used to enjoy it.  I think I might again someday.  I'd like to get a bike like this:

Isn't this just the cutest bike?  Love the pink!

7. What's your favorite cheese?
Mozarella string cheese or American Slices (for sandwiches)

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Hubby just bought me a new battery for my computer.  Can't wait for it to charge so I can once again have some freedom with my laptop and not have to stay plugged in.  Thank you Dear!

Preaching and Still Counting Gifts

This has been an interesting weekend. We went to lunch on Saturday with my sister and brother-in-law. No place special, but it was just nice to spend some time together.

Then on Sunday morning, Kelli (our oldest daughter) preached the morning sermon. She did a really good job, especially considering she's only preached a few times. I'm so proud of her. I don't know if I've ever told you, but she is pursuing a Biblical Studies major and a communications minor in college. Her plans are to do something in the ministry, wherever and to whatever God calls her. If you would like to listen to her sermon, click here to get to our church website and then you can just click on the link "Sermon 05/20/2012. (If you do go to listen, the first couple minutes is my husband talking and you can barely hear this.  Kelli's part is very easy to hear.  She has the proper mic.  He didn't. lol)

Also my dad and mom were able to come to church too.  It was so good to have them back.  I really believe my dad is on the road to recovery.  There have been a few set-backs along the way, but God is working.  Talk about proud Grandparents, they surely are!

Then Sunday after church we went to lunch with Tracy's parents.  They wanted to make sure they got to take Kelli out for her favorite pizza before she leaves for the summer.  It was so fun to get to be with them.

Continuing on with Counting 1000 Gifts - Click the button below and join in with counting 1000 gifts.  It's a great way to be reminded of how great God is and how good he has been to us.
Things I am thankful for:

131.  Dad getting better
132.  Kelli beginning to preach and following God's lead
133.  New flowers to plant in pots for our yard
134.  Lunch with different family members both Saturday and Sunday.
135.  Watching "Soul Surfer" with Kelli
136.  Kerri only having 3 lessons left to turn in and she will be completed with 10th grade.
137.  A beautiful weekend weather wise!  God was really showing His stuff this weekend around here.
138.  My in-laws deciding to go to Disney with us this year!
139.  Family members at Disney World right now and sending texts and pictures from time to time so we can share in their fun!

What a Week This Has Been!

We definitely have had quite the week and it's only Thursday! Wow!

One of my favorite aunts passed away last week and her funeral was Monday. She was such a wonderful woman and I think she made everyone feel like they were special to her. I thought it was just me, but then I found out, so many people felt that way about her. She always had a smile on her face and was just so sweet. I'm so glad to know that someday I will see her again.

We just found out Tuesday night that Lily has a tumor and must have it removed.  So in about 4 weeks, she'll be going under the knife.   The vet feels it is just a fatty tumor and nothing to worry about, but it should be removed.  Still she's my puppy and I hate for her to have to go through this.   And yes, for the next 4 weeks I will be praying for her and maybe God will remove the tumor and she won't need the surgery.

Doesn't she just have the saddest look in this picture?  lol

This beautiful rose along with several others were given to me Tuesday night by one of the ladies in our Bible Study.  I can't remember what she called it for sure but I'm thinking maybe a Peace Rose.  Anyway, they are beautiful and they have the best fragrance of any rose I've ever smelled.  Her husband grows them in their yard.  Thank you Uncle Carol and Aunt Diane.  I love them so much.

Is this not the cutest little baby dress you have ever seen?  After Bible Study Tuesday night we threw a surprise baby shower for Carolyn.  And when she opened this dress, you should have heard all of us ladies oohing and aahing.   It's got beautiful smocking across the front and the color is just so pretty (obviously not a traditional baby color, which makes me love it even more).  I can't wait to see her little baby in it.  She will be so cute!

So as you can see, there have been some good things and some sad things this week.  But no matter what, I know my God has it all in His hands.   But still I'm hoping the rest of the week will be a little more quiet and relaxing.  Yeah, right!  Not while both girls are home.  I have never heard so much laughing, screaming, door slamming, etc as I have in the last 10 days!  Oh well, it's all good....I guess. lol

I am Blessed!

It's a good day. My wonderful hubby brought me breakfast at work. I think I'm married to the sweetest man in this world!

On the way to work, I stopped to walk my mom and dad's dog this morning and my dad is feeling better. All I can say is "Thank you God! You are so awesome!"

Have a blessed day everyone!

Random as All Get Out!

Just feeling random today. Not a lot to say, but thought I'd share some stuff.

My Lily playing out in the yard!

Lilacs in my yard.  These bushes are humongous.  Way up over my head and they smell heavenly!  I just wish the blooms lasted longer.

This is who I've been spending a lot of time with lately.  This is Stewart.  He's a puggle (beagle & pug).  He's my parents' dog.  Since my parents have been sick I've been helping with walking him at least once most every day!  He's a sweetheart and he's helping me get some exercise!

My girls goofing around at Chick-Fil-A!  They are such good sports and will do almost thing I ask when I'm playing around with the camera.

Kelli shopping for art supplies.

Just shopping in general

Kelli

Kerri & Carolyn

Kelli shoe shopping.  She fell in love with these shoes!

I love this hat on Kerri!  Isn't she cute!

Carolyn and Kerri and their gum balls!  Can't take these guys anywhere.  lol

Kerri, Kelli, Carolyn!  See sometimes they even let me take a serious pictures.

Well, that's all for now.  Have a great day!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Hey, why don't you click the button and join in with us?

1. What is a pet peeve you have when vacationing?
The only thing I can think of right now, would be dirty public restrooms.

2. Would you describe yourself as a light packer or do you need everything in your closet plus the kitchen sink?
Usually I bring a lot of extra things that I never use, just because I think I might need it! haha Our next big trip is in August/September when we take our oldest back to school and then the other 3 of us are going to Disney for 11 days. Now, my plan is to pack as light as possible. I think t-shirts and shorts and 1 pair of jeans will be all that's needed clothes wise for this trip. Can I keep it down...who knows? But I plan to try. See Kelli's dorm room will be a lot smaller this year and she plans to send a bunch of stuff home with us (she has it stored for the summer). So Tracy, Kerri and I have to pack light to have room for her stuff!  So who knows, maybe I'll really be able to do it this time.

3. What's the best lesson a child ever taught you?
It's not easy being a parent, but it sure is worth it!

4. Share one piece of advice you'd give a recent graduate as they attempt to enter the job market?
Just pray and let God lead you to the right place!  I promise, if you are serving Him, He has a plan for your life!

5. What's your favorite lemon something?
Sonic lemon-berry slush
I haven't had one yet this year, but I think it's time.  Thanks for the reminder.

6. Flat sandal, wedge, heel...your favorite footwear?
My Croc flip flops.  They are soooo comfy.

Mine are the ones on the bottom left.  I've had them for 4 or 5 years.  I think I need a new pair this year.

7. What do you like best about a beach holiday? If you're not a beach lover (GASP!!) what do you dislike the least?

I love watching the sunrise from my balcony and then going out and walking up and down the beach for a couple of hours.  Usually, I'm shell hunting the whole time.  Love the early morning on the beach the best!

8. Insert your own random thought here.
My oldest is home and we only have her about 3 weeks and I plan to enjoy this time as much as possible.

Scavenger Hunt and Other Stuff

Lisa Tawn Bergren is hosting a Christian Fiction Scavenger Hunt May 31st to June 4th.  Click the button in my sidebar to read more about it.  It sounds like a lot of fun to me, so I wanted to make sure you knew about it.

Gotta go now.  My oldest got home last night and we are going out for a fun time of shopping before Bible Study tonight. Four girls together.   I'll try to get some pictures to show here later this week.

Have a great day everyone and be sure to check out the Scavenger Hunt.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Click the button above to play along with us.

1. My daughter2 is graduating from university this month and plans to teach elementary school. What are three qualities you most want to see evidenced in a teacher?

A real concern for his/her students.
A real love to teach and to see the student truly learn and grasp a new concept.
A Joyful attitude.

2. You can tell a lot about a person by_____________________.

Watching them when they don't know they are being watched. (Not stalker type watching...lol)  Just being observant.

3. What song makes you think spring?

Can't think of a thing except the little poem "April showers bring May flowers".  I asked my daughter and she said the same thing.

4. May 1st is Mother Goose Day...share your favorite nursery rhyme.

Jack Sprat could eat no fat.
His wife could eat no lean.
And so between them both, you see,
They licked the platter clean.

5. What makes someone unforgettable?

Their attitude.

6. Should music and/or art be part of a well rounded education?

Yes I think everyone needs to have at least a little understanding of each.

7. What social situations make you flustered or nervous?

Large groups of people, like parties and stuff.  After I'm there for a short time, I relax usually.  It's mostly just when we first get there.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Someone said "Don't tell God how big your storms are, but instead tell your storms how big your God is!"  I'm trying to do this as we worry over my father.  He's had another setback.  But I know we serve a God who will take care of my dad as He sees to be best.  After all my God's vision is perfect and He sees all that we don't and I'm trusting Him (as best as I'm able) to take care of it all.  Prayers would be appreciated for both my dad and mom.
