If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. The Summer Olympics officially begin this Friday night...will you be watching? If you could see just one event in person which one would you pick?
Women's Gymnastics

2.Do lazy days make you feel rested or unproductive?
Rested

3. July 25th is 'officially' Threading the Needle Day...can you sew? On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being not at all and 10 being Betsy Ross-like, how would you rate your skill with a needle and thread?
If you mean sewing by hand, probably 5 or 6.  I can hem and sew on buttons just fine.  If you're talking embroidery or counted cross stitch, I'm pretty good, probably at least an 8.

4. 'Threading the Needle' can also mean to walk a fine line between two things or issues (think awkward social situation). When was the last time you had to 'thread the needle', figuratively speaking?
Can't think of a thing, at least not what I'd want to share publicly.

5. Kidney, pinto, black, or navy...your favorite bean?
Black beans if I'm eating Mexican.  Navy if I'm eating cornbread.

6. Have you ever hosted a garage sale? Was it more success or bust?
Yes, we've had several garage sales, and some have been okay and some not so much.  Can't say I want to do another one anytime soon.

7. What makes you roll your eyes?
Some of the silly things my kids say.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Just want to say thanks to Joyce for hosting Hodgepodge every week.  I really appreciate it and have fun participating and reading all the different answers and sometimes finding new blogs I like.  Thanks Joyce

Weekend Wrap-Up

Why not click here and join in with your own Weekend Wrap-Up.

Friday - Carolyn and Carina came and visited and this is Aunt Kerri holding her.  Sweetest things (both of them).

Saturday - Sat out for about 30 minutes tanning and reading.  I'm pretty fair and have to start slowly.  I need to get a bit of a base, so I don't burn in Florida.  Plus I don't want to be such a bright white, if you know what I mean.  Just a bit of color.  To give you an idea, I was asked one time when wearing shorts if I was wearing white hose.  hahaha

Saturday was a stay at home day (we get very few of those). Kerri and I went out only long enough to get some carry-out.  Kerri had pizza, I had Chinese and hubby had Frisch's Big Boy.  Spent the rest of the day reading and relaxing.

Sunday was church

The kids had a Sunday School project.  They painted rocks and then they were placed in the rock-flower garden in front of our multi-purpose building.

Here are a few more.

And look - they even made one and put my name on it!

Sunday evening when we came out of church, we saw these hot air balloons off in the distance.

How do you like my Mickey?  It's on my car window.  I actually bought this 2 or 3 years ago, but just recently put it on my car window.  I may have to get a Minnie or a Tinkerbell on this trip.

Hope you have a great day.

Conversation with God

I saw this on FB yesterday and it's just too good not to share it.

Me: Promise you won't get mad?

GOD: I promise.

Me (frustrated): Why did you let so much stuff happen to me today?

GOD: What do you mean?

Me: Well I woke up late,

GOD: Yes

Me: My car took forever to start,

GOD: Okay....

Me (growling): At lunch, they made my sandwich wrong and I had to wait

GOD: Hmmmm..

Me: On the way home, my phone went dead, just as I picked up a call

GOD: All right

Me (loudly): And to top it all off, when I got home, I just wanted to soak my feet in my foot massager and relax, but it wouldn't work. Nothing went right today! Why did you do that?

GOD: Well let me see..... the death angel was at your bed this morning and I had to send one of the other angels to battle him for your life. I let you sleep through that.

Me (humbled): Oh...

GOD: I didn't let your car start because there was a drunk driver on your route that might have hit you if you were on the road

Me (ashamed): ............

GOD: The first person who made your sandwich today was sick and I didn't want you to catch what they have, I knew you couldn't afford to miss work

Me (embarrassed): Oh.....

GOD: Your phone went dead because the person that was calling was going to give a false witness about what you said on that call, I didn't even let you talk to them so you would be covered

Me (softly): I see God

GOD: Oh and that foot massager, it had a short that was going to throw out all of the power in your house tonight. I didn't think you wanted to be in the dark.

Me: I'm sorry God.

GOD: Don't be sorry, just learn to trust me.........in all things, the good and the bad

Me: I WILL trust you God

GOD: And don't doubt that my plan for your day is always better than your plan

Me: I won't God. And let me just tell you God, thank you for everything today.

GOD: You're welcome child. It was just another day being your God and I love looking after my children.

This is definitely something I needed to be reminded of. God is in control and is looking out for me, because He loves me. What a wonder! He loves me!!!!

And He loves you too!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Click the button to play along.

1. The Summer Olympics begin next week and London is playing host. If you had the chance to go in person which (non-Olympic) London site would you most like to visit?
I really don't know much about London, but I'd like to see Big Ben.

2. What is something in your life right now that feels like an Olympic event?
Trying to make myself get in and stay in the routine of walking.

3. What's your favorite supper to prepare and serve when it's too hot to cook?
Hamburgers or hotdogs on the grill with some chips.  You didn't say it had to be healthy right? lol

4. July 18th is National Get Out of the Doghouse Day...when was the last time you were 'in the doghouse'?
Hubby never makes me feel like I'm in the doghouse...I have a tendency to do that to myself.  I really can't remember the last time.

5. What television advertisement do you find particularly irritating or inappropriate? You may not answer with 'all of them'. I know some of you were thinking about it.
Any and all pharmaceutical advertisements.  I believe our Doctors are the ones who should recommend what we need, not the TV.  I really don't wish to name a particular product, however, I bet we all know the ones I'm talking about.

6. Share one piece of interesting news from the year you were born.
Elvis Presley received his draft notice for the United States Army.

7. What's the best part of your average day?
Coming home from work and being able to spend the evening at home.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Here are some prices from the year I was born.

New House Average Price $12,220

Wages Average $4.550

Gallon of Gas 24 Cents

Chrome Dinette Set 7 piece $99.50

Mechanical Adding Machine $3.98

Paperback Book 25 cents

Food
Dozen Eggs 28 Cents

Bananas 14 cents Lb

Campbells Tomato Soup 10 cents

Hamburger Meat 30 Cents Lb

Sirloin Steak 59 Cents Lb

Oh and if you're just dying to know the year, so you can figure out just how old I am, it's 1957.   I'm really not ashamed of my age.  I'm just thankful for each day that I wake up on this side of the dirt.  :)

Have a great day everyone!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Weekend Wrap-up at a Defined Life

I'm joining in with "A Defined Life" for the Weekend Wrap-up. Why not click the button and join in too.  All in all, we had a pretty quiet weekend, but I still found a few things to take pictures of.

Friday evening - After work.
Watching a Disaster Movie and crocheting.  Trying to get a baby blanket finished.

Saturday
It actually rained for awhile.  First time we've had to use windshield wipers in quite awhile.

Lunch at a newly opened Panda Express.  Pretty good food.  Steamed rice, black pepper chicken and chicken & green beans

Quick shopping trip at Wally World

Kerri and I went and saw Brave.  We really liked it

Heading out to visit my parents and noticed the neighbor's cat was sitting on their car.  Just had to take a picture.  So cute.

Sunday
2 Church services and went to lunch with hubby's parents.  Sunday evening relaxed at home.  Looks like Lily couldn't decide with was cooler, the wood or the tile floor.

Friday Fragments

 Mommy's Idea

Click here to join in with Mrs. 4444's for Friday Fragments

Let's see if I can come up with any fragments to talk about.

*  The sky was really pretty the other night.  I took a couple of pictures.

*This beautiful little girl was born yesterday.  I am her honorary grandma. Her mommy texted this picture late last night.  Isn't she just gorgeous!  I'm sure there will be lots of pictures of Carina in the days and years to come around this blog.  I can't wait to meet her.

*  Still watching Bunheads and still loving it.  If you haven't seen it and you liked the Gilmore Girls, then you should check it out.  They are made by the same people.  Totally different story lines, but just something about it definitely puts me in mind of Gilmore Girls.  I really am enjoying this alot.

Internet Photo
 *  I just finished reading "Sophie's Heart" by Lori Wick for the 2nd time.  Loved it as much this time as the first time I read it.  I love Lori Wick.

Internet Photo
 *  Does anyone else like Sudoku?  I've been doing these puzzles some lately and I kinda like them.

*  I made a Cracker Barrel's Cheese Hash Browns the other day.  I found the recipe on Pinterest and they were easy and awesome!  Follow me on Pinterest (see button on my side bar) and you'll find it on my recipe board.

Internet Photo

* In 43 days we'll be seeing this again.  Can't wait!

That's all  the fragments I have for now.  Have a great weekend!

Miscellaneous Stuff

These are my new $9 sandals from Wally World.  I love the red polish with a coat of glitter polish.  My daughter gave me the pedicure.  Now I just need it refreshed.

Tracy and I tried this restaurant for the 1st time Saturday.  It was really good.  Sorry I didn't take any pictures, but that was some of the best barbecue chicken I've ever had.

This sign was in the lady's room.  I bet people thought I was strange when I came out and got my camera and walked back in the restroom so I could take a picture.  haha
This probably should have been my Monday post for Week-end Wrap Up.  I guess better late than never.

Wednesday Hodgepodge #84!!!

Click the Hodgepodge button to join in for the fun.

1. How often do you check the weather? How do you check the weather?
Not very often at all.

2. Since this is volume 84 of the Wednesday Hodgepodge, and since I got married in 1984, and since I'm attending a wedding this weekend it only seems right to post something related here.

"Happiness in marriage is entirely a matter of chance. If the dispositions of the parties are ever so well known to each other or ever so similar beforehand, it does not advance their felicity in the least. They always continue to grow sufficiently unlike afterwards to have their share of vexation; and it is better to know as little as possible of the defects of the person with whom you are to pass your life."
Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice

Agree or Disagree. Why?

I disagree. I do not believe if you are following Christ, that anything is a matter of chance.  It is all divinely orchestrated.

3. Do you like to dance? Have you ever taken dance lessons?
I would like to dance, but I cannot and no I have never taken lessons.

4. Fresh from the oven peach pie or home made peach ice cream? Pick one.
Peach Pie - even better if it's a cobbler.

5. Should people accept unfairness and learn to make the best of it?
Depends on what's unfair.

6. The top five all time summer movie blockbusters (released between May and August and grossing at least 100 million dollars) are-Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Wars (the original), Ghostbusters, and ET. Which one's your favorite?
Probably Star Wars or maybe Raiders of the Lost Ark.

7. If given the chance, would you like to visit the moon?
Yes, that is if I could work up the courage.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I really need to get back to my regular blogging.  Just have been kind of out of it lately.  Nothing's wrong.  I just haven't had much of anything to say.

In Memory of Mr. Griffith

I just heard that Andy Griffith passed away today and I just had to share my favorite scene from his old show. Mr. Griffith you will be greatly missed.
