Wednesday Hodgepodge

Click on the above button to join in.

1. It's a brand new month...share one thing you're looking forward to in October.
My oldest daughter's 21st birthday.  Even though I can't be with her, I'm excited for her to turn 21 and I know she is too.

2. Is chivalry dead? Explain.
I don't think so.  I know my husband is still my knight in shining armor and treats me like his queen.  So if it's dead for the rest of the world, I'm sorry.  But it's not for me.

3. On October 2, 1950 the Peanuts comic strip made its debut. Which character is your favorite? Which character is most like you? (Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Shroeder, Snoopy, Woodstock, or Pig Pen) If you need a description click here.
Linus is my favorite, but I'm probably most like Lucy.

4. What's something you're competitive about?
I can be pretty competitive when playing Words with Friends.

5. October is National Popcorn Popping Month...are you a fan? How do you like your popcorn?
I do like popcorn and my favorite is either movie popcorn or kettle corn.

6. When did you first realize the world is small?
It is?

7. In terms of architecture, what's the most beautiful building you've seen up close and in person?
This is the first thing that came to my mind.  The Lincoln Memorial.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
"My dearly loved brothers, understand this: Everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger," James 1:19  This is something I'm needing to work on.  I love the book of James, but this is not an easy one to do. But I am determined to not just be a hearer of the word this time, but a doer.

Have a great day.

  2. Ooo! I have always wanted to visit DC to see all the amazing architecture. James is also one of my favorite books of the Bible. I still remember a sermon I heard years ago on that verse and the pastor said something along the lines of "God gave use 2 ears and only 1 mouth to perhaps remind us to listen twice as much as we speak". Happy Wednesday!

  3. What a sweet answer to #2. I can't believe we were so close to DC last month and didn't stop ... but we'd been gone 9 days (and had another day of driving before we would get home). But going to DC is definitely on my bucket list. I don't think we can ever study James too often ... it's my favorite book of the Bible.

  4. I have a Hubby who treats me like a queen as well so I understand how great that feels. The lesson that God is trying toteach me is "Do not worry about tommorow" I know (understand) it but for some reason, I worry about stuff I cannot change. He is trying to teach me, I am trying to learn. It takes works. So I understand how you are tying to learn your lesson as well. Hang in there God is done with us yet!

  6. Great verse and good reminder. It makes me think of the saying that since we have two ears and one mouth, we should listen twice as much as we speak. Sometimes it's hard....
    Have a good day!

    1. That's a cool idea. My daughter just told me of a Vera Bradley bag she wants, plus I'm sure we'll send just a box of fun stuff. Our daughter's is the 29th...just 4 days apart.

  13. 21...it's a great age! Hope she has a wonderful birthday. Love your answer on chivalry. I felt the same way about the size of the world, I think it's pretty big. I would love to see the Lincoln Memorial in person. Hope your having a nice day.
