If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Noah Webster was born this week back in 1758....besides the online version, do you own a dictionary? Do you ever use the hardback copy or is your hunt for a definition strictly online these days?
Happy Birthday Mr. Webster!  Yes, we do own a hardback dictionary.  However, about the only time it gets used now is when we are playing Scrabble.  You have to use the book and not the computer for Scrabble.  It's just tradition!

2. Should public schools ban Halloween celebrations? What about other holiday celebrations currently under fire?
I don't think public schools should ban the Halloween celebrations.  We always had so much fun when we were little getting to wear our costumes to school.
How could you not want to see this face?
I also think it's a shame they want to ban Christmas celebrations and call it Winter Celebrations or breaks instead.

3. What's your favorite 'dog' movie?
Probably" Old Yeller"

4. When were you last somewhere you'd describe as 'too quiet'?
I can't really think of anything recently.  Maybe the last time I had to work a midnight shift at work at about 5:00 in the morning.  There is a reason they call it the "graveyard shift."

5. Are you a neat cook or a messy cook? In other words do you clean as you go or make a big mess and then deal with it later?
I'm messy, but I usually have a sink of soapy water ready and wash up the dishes as I go when baking.  When just cooking meals, I more often than not, just leave the dishes until I'm done.

6. Did you hear about Felix Baumgartner, the skydiver who broke the sound barrier via parachute? Was your first thought COOL! or was your first thought CRAZY! Are you adventurous?
I read about it on a blog yesterday and my thought is Cool!  But would I do it?  No way.

7. What's not a word but should be?
Grunchy...that's grumpy and grouchy together.  And some days it just takes the combination to explain how I feel.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Anybody watching the new show "Revolution?"  It's actually pretty good.  I watched the first show of "Beauty and the Beast" and it wasn't bad.  How about "Elementary"?  It's a remake of the Sherlock Holmes story.  So far each of these are pretty good.  How about you...watching any new shows?   Let me know what you think of them.

  2. I do agree with you on #2, but I don't think it would ever fly for schools to continue calling it a Christmas celebration. Just steps on too many toes...unfortunately. I have definitely been feeling very grunchy these past two days! Have a good one, Cathy!

  3. Old Yeller was my choice, too. I think it was the first movie I ever saw in a movie theater.

I agree with you on #2.

No new shows watched here. Especially during this time of year, postseason baseball gets all the TV time (although I do tape NCIS so I can watch it during the day before the games resume).

  4. Grunchy is an excellent way to describe those feelings! Old Yeller is so sad...but a great movie. I need to write up a list of movies to watch. So many I've forgotten!

  5. I've DVR'ed Elementary... i think I'll like it - just waiting for time that me & the hubs can watch it together.

Grunchy - sounds like me when I'm hungry... I just reinvented your word :)

Old Yeller? oh noooooooo!!!!! You need something more uplifting!

  6. Yes a dictionary is a must with Scrabble. We have a small one that is just Scrabble allowed words. I think the parties are an important part of school. My children loved them. I agree that cooking dinner is different than baking. I also clean as I go along or it drives me crazy. I heard good things about Revolution but haven't watched it. Maybe I'll check it out at OnDemand Primetime.

  7. I still cry at Old Yeller so that is not on my list. I hate it when the dog dies.....
I'm watching Once Upon a Time and still really like it but it's hard if you miss a week, they build on each other.

  8. The only new show I have watched is Nashville. It was pretty good, and I like Connie Britton from Friday Night Lights. I will have to check out some of the ones you mentioned. We don't have a DVR though... I think we're the only ones in America without one. :)

  11. We still have a hardback dictionary around here too. It is the one I received for a high school graduation gift. And you are right - a must for scrabble.
