Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

It's been a good week so far and here are a few fragments from my week.

Hubby made chili Monday night for supper and we ate it as 3 ways.  So very good. Hubby makes the best chili around!  Then I had it for lunch on Tuesday at work and gave my parents a dish of it and they had it for lunch on Wednesday.  Hubby had it again Thursday night for supper.  This was the pot of chili that just kept on giving. haha

Tuesday was Bible study night.  We had another great lesson from Beth Moore's study on James.  Now I just need to get busy on this weeks homework.  Have I told you before that I am totally in love with the ladies in our group.  We have such a great time together.  We go from age 18 to about age 82.  There is so much love and life experiences shared and I can't think of any place I'd rather be on Tuesday nights.  Plus I got to spend time holding 9 week old Carina too.  It just doesn't get any better.

Wednesday night we took Kerri to her youth meeting and then hubby and I went to Hot Heads for dinner and then parked the car at the church and waited on Kerri.  It was a very nice relaxing time together.  Then we went home and watched the season openers of NCIS and NCIS LA.  I love both of these shows.

Thursday was just a relaxing night at home.  Supper was an on your own night and we watched the Season Opener of "The Middle".  Do any of you watch this show?  I swear it just cracks me up.  Some of the things the parents say, are so much like hubby and me.  We just look at each other an smile.  If you've never seen it and you have teenagers, I definitely recommend to watch it.

Country Applefest will be in our town tomorrow.  I'll be working 8 hours OT to help in dispatch during the festival so I won't get to go.  But if you're nearby, its a good way to spend a beautiful Saturday afternoon.  Here's a link to their website.

Just for fun here's a video of the Dapper Dan's that I filmed while in Disney World.  Hope you enjoy it.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

It's time for the Wednesday Hodgepodge.  Click the button above to join in.

1. The Wednesday Hodgepodge this week falls on John Chapman's birth date. He's more famously known as Johnny Appleseed...what's your favorite variety of apple?
Apple Dumplings....does that count?  Even if it doesn't it's my blog and that's my answer.  haha  My daddy makes the best apple dumplings in the world!  He learned from his mom.  Yummy!

2. When did you last say 'ick'?
I don't recall having said it anytime in recent memory.

3. Do you think there's a generation gap? Explain.
Yes.  After 36 years working in the same place, watching people coming and going...I'd say there are definitely differences between the ones hired when I was and the ones hired now.  They just look at things differently and think differently.  Maybe they feel a little more entitled than people of my generation.

4. What's on your computer screen saver? Do you leave it alone or change it often?
Dory is on my computer at home and a ocean sunset is on my computer at work.  I change them from time to time.

5. If you had the attention of the entire world for two minutes, what would you say?
Jesus is alive and well and loves you and me.   If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
Trust Him with your life.  You will never regret it. I know I don't.

6. Four fashion trends to try this fall are-brocade/jacquard (fancy printed fabrics), peplum, lace, and printed pants...which of these four would you be most likely to wear?
Possibly the brocade/jacquard.

7. What can make your bad day better?
Spending time with my husband.  He can help me work my way through things better than anyone I know.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
This is something I don't often do. Show a picture of myself in a post. But I want to make sure Carina knows some day that I was really here with her when she was a baby. I have pictures of her, but never with me. I didn't even have my camera so Kerri took the picture tonight at Bible Study with my phone. Isn't she the most darling little thing.

She's yawning and I can't quit smiling

Four Years

How long have you been blogging? I just celebrated my 4th blogoversary Thursday, September 13th. Who knew that 4 years ago when my friend talked me into starting a blog that I'd still be plugging away at it today. There have been times I've blogged a lot and there have been times when I haven't had much to say. But even in the slow times, I'm glad I've stuck it out. I've met so many interesting and wonderful people out here in the blogging world. So Lord willing, 4 years from now I'll still be here and celebrating 8 years of blogging!

Have a great day!

Well the best thing is that I'm still alive and the worst thing is I can't always do everything I used to be able to do.

2. Autumn arrives this week in the Northern Hemisphere...what one thing do you love most about the fall season?
The beautiful fall colors.
I took this picture in 2010

4. Since we're on the subject of fall...what's the worst fall you've ever taken?
When I still lived with my parents on the farm.  It was a very cold, snowy, winter day and I was carrying a pan of hot water out to my mom to put on the windshield to clean off the ice.  I stepped off the porch onto the snowy grass and slipped and fell backwards.  I spilled the water all over myself and I cracked the back of my head on the concrete porch.  Ouch!!

5. If you could own a prop from any film what would you choose?
Just off the top of my head I would say the house in "Home Alone"

6. What's the most interesting word you've read or learned in the past week?
Chairein which is a Greek greeting meaning Joy to You!  Isn't that a wonderful way to say hello?  It's pronounced like ki-rain with the ki part as a long "i".  Learned this in our women's Bible Study of James, Mercy Triumphs by Beth Moore.

7. When was the last time you locked yourself out of your house, car, or office? Was it a big deal?
Can't remember the last time.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I want to show you a picture of Carina.  She's 9 weeks old now.  I love this little girl.  Kerri's holding her after Bible Study.  Oh and Kerri (my baby) turned 18 last week.  I love this little girl too!  She'll always be my little girl.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL? The NFL is back in action along with all the college teams. Are you a fan? Who do you root for? If you're not a fan what do you do while the rest of America watches Saturday, Sunday, Monday night, and now Thursday night games?

I am not a fan of football.  Never have been.  However, if I were to root for a team, it would be the Bengals, just because they are the local team.  What I do when everyone else is watching?...live life.  Fortunately, my husband doesn't spend a lot of time watching football either.  He follows the scores and knows what's going on, but doesn't live in front of the TV for football either.

2. What's something I'll always find in your closet?
Shoes and clothes

3. Share one of your earliest memories.
Playing out in the back yard with my brothers and sisters.  Playing such things as army, rollerskating (in the garage), trying to learn to ride my brother's bike, playing in the sandbox and on the swingset.  All these things occurred sometime before 2nd grade.

4. What circus act best describes your week so far?
Juggling -- just trying to pull it all back together after vacation.

5. What's a food you disliked as a child but you love now?
Soup Beans and green beans

6. Describe your summer in three words.
Not Long Enough

7. Where were you on September 11, 2001? Will you do anything special to mark the day this year?
I was in surgery having my gallbladder removed.  I was in recovery when the first tower was hit.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
My baby turns 18 tomorrow!

Weekend Wrap-up and Now Back to Work

We're back home and this weekend we've started to get back into the swing again. We got home Thursday night and got unpacked and the laundry done and the dog picked up from the kennel. Friday we had to grocery shop because we had nothing in the house to eat. Then Saturday we visited with my parents, and did some Walmarting and just relaxed some. Sunday was back to church and I taught Sunday School, hubby preached and it seemed we were back on schedule again.

Now today, it's back to work for me and hubby and our youngest (who, by the way, turns 18 this week) will be back to full-time school work. She does the online virtual school. She's planning to try to do 2 years in one and get her high school finished this year. I believe she can, depending on how hard she wants to work.

Our ladies' Bible Study starts tomorrow night. We are doing Beth Moore's study of James, Mercy Triumphs. I can't wait to get started. Isn't that such a cool name. Mercy Triumphs. Thank God, for his mercy!!!

So vacation is over and now it's time to get back to work. I'm hoping I'll go back with a better attitude and not sweat the small stuff. I'll try to show some pictures this week from our vacation and tell you about it. We had a great time. I'll show two pictures from our trip.
