If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Wednesday Hodgepodge #100

Can you believe it?  This is the 100th Hodgepodge!  Thank you Joyce!  Come on, please after you read and comment on mine, why don't you click the button above and join in with us for the next 100 Hodgepodges!!

1. What creeps you out?
Hearing a neck pop.  I hate that sound on TV or in movies when they snap someone's neck.  I cringe every time. I think it's because when I was little my parents took me to a chiropractor and he always popped my neck and I would always cry.  Well, until my mom promised me a new set of play dishes if I wouldn't cry.  So that time I didn't, but still to this day, I hate that sound.

2. What's your least favorite candy?
Black Licorice

3. Are you a fan of scary movies? What's the scariest movie you've ever seen?
No, I hate scary movies.  "When A Stranger Calls"  I know it's an old movie, but I don't watch that stuff anymore because I hate it so bad.

4. What part of life confuses you the most?
Raising teenage girls.

5. Pumpkin, sunflower, sesame, poppy...what's your favorite seed?
Sunflower seeds

6. Imagine your life ten years from today...what's changed?
I'll be 65 and I imagine I'll be retired and living in a condo so we can travel freely without worrying about yard work.  In fact, that could happen a lot sooner than 10 years, good Lord willing

7. What do you a) love the most and b) like the least about the Hodgepodge?
Getting to see what everyone else answers and also to see if they like my answers is what I like the most.  The least, might be when there is a question that I have no idea what to answer, but then again, it's fun to see what everyone else said on those.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
My oldest turned 21 Monday.  Isn't she just adorable!

Things Change

 Things change, plans fail
You look for love on a grander scale
Storms rise, hopes fade
And you place your bets on another day
When the going gets tough
When the ride's too rough
When you're just not sure enough

(chorus)
Jesus will still be there
His love will never change
Sure as the steady rain
Jesus will still be there
When no one else is true
He'll still be loving you
When it looks like you've lost it all
And you haven't got a prayer
Jesus will still be there

Time flies, hearts turn
A little bit wiser from lessons learned
But sometimes, weakness wins
And you lose your foothold once again
When the going gets tough
When the ride's too rough
When you're just not sure enough

(repeat chorus) (2x)

When it looks like you've lost it all
And you haven't got a prayer
Jesus will still be there

Hope you enjoy this song.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Noah Webster was born this week back in 1758....besides the online version, do you own a dictionary? Do you ever use the hardback copy or is your hunt for a definition strictly online these days?
Happy Birthday Mr. Webster!  Yes, we do own a hardback dictionary.  However, about the only time it gets used now is when we are playing Scrabble.  You have to use the book and not the computer for Scrabble.  It's just tradition!

2. Should public schools ban Halloween celebrations? What about other holiday celebrations currently under fire?
I don't think public schools should ban the Halloween celebrations.  We always had so much fun when we were little getting to wear our costumes to school.
How could you not want to see this face?
I also think it's a shame they want to ban Christmas celebrations and call it Winter Celebrations or breaks instead.

3. What's your favorite 'dog' movie?
Probably" Old Yeller"

4. When were you last somewhere you'd describe as 'too quiet'?
I can't really think of anything recently.  Maybe the last time I had to work a midnight shift at work at about 5:00 in the morning.  There is a reason they call it the "graveyard shift."

5. Are you a neat cook or a messy cook? In other words do you clean as you go or make a big mess and then deal with it later?
I'm messy, but I usually have a sink of soapy water ready and wash up the dishes as I go when baking.  When just cooking meals, I more often than not, just leave the dishes until I'm done.

6. Did you hear about Felix Baumgartner, the skydiver who broke the sound barrier via parachute? Was your first thought COOL! or was your first thought CRAZY! Are you adventurous?
I read about it on a blog yesterday and my thought is Cool!  But would I do it?  No way.

7. What's not a word but should be?
Grunchy...that's grumpy and grouchy together.  And some days it just takes the combination to explain how I feel.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Anybody watching the new show "Revolution?"  It's actually pretty good.  I watched the first show of "Beauty and the Beast" and it wasn't bad.  How about "Elementary"?  It's a remake of the Sherlock Holmes story.  So far each of these are pretty good.  How about you...watching any new shows?   Let me know what you think of them.

Weekend Wrap-Up

There's not much to wrap-up this weekend. I didn't take a single picture of anything. I can't believe that. Anyway, it was a great weekend though.

Friday night we just relaxed at home...all 3 of us.

Saturday - Kerri was gone from 10a-11:30p, so Tracy and I had some of that empty nest time. We drove up to Plain City and had lunch at the Der Dutchman, which is an Amish style restaurant. Very good food. Then we drove back home. It's about an hour and a half drive and it was a beautiful day for a drive. Lot's of fall colors. However, I was driving, so there are no pictures.

On the way home we did 5 different geocaches and actually found all of them. It was so much fun. Then we stopped at the grocery and then relaxed at home for the evening. I know, I know, we are just such exciting folks. haha

Sunday we had church and it was our homecoming. We had a great service and some great food afterwards. Let me tell you, those people know how to cook! Yummy!

I finished up my Bible Study for Tuesday night and then hubby and I watched a James Bond movie. I love watching Pierce Brosnan as James Bond.

And that was our weekend in a nutshell. How was yours?

A Painting instead of Friday Frags

We've had a fairly quiet week (at least nothing too interesting to write about). So I thought I'd show you a picture of a couple of paintings my daughter just did last weekend. I love these. The pictures aren't the best quality because she sent them from her phone, but her paintings are awesome (is a mom allowed to say that?).

I am so asking for her to do one for me for a Christmas present.  I just need to decide what saying I want.

Oh yeah! I just remembered.  One thing I did this week was make plane reservations for Kelli to fly home for Christmas break!  Can't wait to see her.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Fall Photo Link Party

Click the above button to join Veronica and Daniel at Adventures of D and V in their Fall Photo Link Party.

I saw this fall decoration on the way home from work.

The leaves are just starting to change around here

These trees are a little farther along in the color changing process.

This is at our church campgrounds.  I've been going here since I was a little girl.  Give it another week or so and this will be really colorful.

Not a whole lot of colors, but love this picture anyway.

Another picture on the way home.
This goes to show you, you can find a beautiful burst of fall colors any where, even in the middle of a Taco Bell Parking lot.

How about a caramel green apple sucker?  My daughters love these in the fall.

Hope you will join in and play along with us.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. In what ways do you indulge yourself?
One way we indulge ourselves is eating out several times a week.  0It makes for less work at home, which gives me more time to indulge in reading and blogging, etc.

2. Have you ever taken a cooking class? Any interest? What type of class would you most like to try?
No, I've never taken a cooking class and I really have no interest in it except maybe if Paula Deen was teaching her southern style of cooking.

3. What does it mean to be a good citizen?
Vote when you have the opportunity and obeying the laws of the land and truly caring about the people who live there.

4. 'Tis the season of the political advert...do these ads influence your vote?
No, I don't think they really do too much.  Mostly they just irritate me.

5. What's something you see today that makes you wish you were a kid again?
Seeing my parents aging, makes me wish we could all be younger again and that they could have the strength and vitality they used to have.

6. What's your least favorite cliche?
Even after looking at a list, I couldn't decide.  I think I actually like cliches.

7. What percentage of your Christmas shopping has been completed? How does that make you feel?
0% and it's early yet, so I feel fine about it.  Ask me again at Thanksgiving....

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Check my sidebar and consider joining in the fall photo link party.  Why not click the button and check it out.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Kerri babysat for Carina Friday night and then again on Saturday morning. She is so adorable but she cried alot. She is not used to taking a bottle so she wouldn't eat. So she was hungry and cried when she wasn't sleeping. Finally she drank her bottle about 20 minutes before her mommy picked her up. Quite the experience for us. haha But isn't she just the cutest little thing (when she's asleep)?

This is the afghan I made for her.  I forgot to take a picture before I gave it to her.  But her mom brought it to our house so I could get a pic.  It was so sweet to hold her Saturday morning while watching a favorite movie and she slept.

Hubby and I went to dinner Saturday night at Logan's Steakhouse while Kerri was out on her date.  Hubby and I are starting to experience some times of empty nest.  Have to say I'm kinda enjoying it.

Sunday night before church we saw some hot air balloons.  This one flew right over my head and they were low enough I could actually hear them talking.  As you can see, you can even see up inside the balloons.  There were 3 or 4 more in the area too, but I had to go in for church and couldn't wait on them to fly over.  So I just took some pictures of them at a distance.

I was a wonderful weekend and guess what, it's not over yet because today is Columbus Day and I'm off today too!  Yay!!!

Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

This week has gone pretty fast.

Monday - I spent the evening working on catching up on my Bible Study (it's not a very good idea to save the whole weeks worth of study for the last night). Loving this James study.

Tuesday - Ladies Bible Study. Such a great group of ladies, plus I get to see Carina and her mommy. Love holding that sweet baby girl.

Wednesday - Went to dinner with hubby at Jimmy Johns and then grocery shopping. Came home and couldn't stand the thought of watching the debate, so we watched NCIS and NCIS LA on ON Demand.

Thursday - Went to the Homecoming Parade. Met some friends and had a lot of fun. Came home and hubby had made dinner and I did a Bible Study (I'm determined not to get behind this week). My friend's son is on the senior homecoming court. Here are some pictures.

My friend's son.  Isn't he cute?

Not a great picture, but this young man is in my Sunday School class.

Disney Fun

Thought I'd show just a couple of photos from Disney today. I may do this from time to time.

I love this character, Edna from "The Incredibles".  I would really like to have this painted on my bathroom wall, so when I get depressed about how I look, she could tell me I look fabulous Darling!.  Ha  The actress that does her voice is Hetty on "NCIS LA" and I love her on that show too. She makes me laugh

Kerri with my favorite "Cars" character....Mater

Kerri and Peter Pan.  I love it that my kids still love to have their pictures taken with the characters.  See Disney brings out the kid in all of us, even teenagers

Tracy and I...we always have to get a picture in the bug-eyes!

I love the Fairy Godmother!  I could so play this character in the parks when I retire.

Kerri with her grandparents - my husbands parents.

I love getting photos of the castle from other places besides Main Street.  I thought about using this as one of the most beautiful buildings in the Hodgepodge yesterday. It makes me happy every time I see it.
If anybody's interested you can check out my Youtube channel and see some Disney videos I've downloaded at TCKK1957.

Have a great day!
