If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What are your plans for Easter? Are you cooking a big lunch or dinner? Dyeing eggs? Attending a sun rise service? Eating too much chocolate?
We're having an Easter Egg Hunt for the Sunday School Class and then Church.  Then we'll probably go to lunch with hubby's family and hopefully our youngest daughter.

2. What is something you feel too young to do?
Live in a retirement home?  I don't know.

3. "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud...it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs..."

Of the characteristics mentioned in the biblical definition of love which do you find most difficult to live out and why?
It keeps no record of wrongs.  Because sometimes you think you can forgive, but it's really hard to forget when you've been wronged.

4. What's a springtime flower you associate with your childhood?
I'm not sure I have one, but maybe a tulip?

5. Ever sung karaoke? If so, what's your go-to song? If not and you're given the opportunity, would you?
No, I have not sung karaoke.  Would I, if given a chance?  Depends on the place and  time and who all was present.

6. What is something you keep in a basket?
Yarn

7. When was the last time you felt foolish?
Nothing stands out to me right now.  Maybe because it's such a common occurrence.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Over the past month or so my dad has had cataract surgery on both of his eyes.  He is now seeing 20/20 in one and at least 20/50 in the other.  He is so pleased with how well he is seeing.  Mom says he walks around the house looking at everything and saying I didn't know this was so pretty, or I didn't know this had that much color.  They have a blue recliner in their family room that they have had for several years.  He told me after the first surgery that he had no idea that chair was blue.  He just thought it was grey or black.  He had lost almost all color.  In fact, now he has better vision than I do!  I am so happy for him. It's absolutely amazing what they can do now through surgery!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Time for another Weekend Wrap-Up.

Friday evening:   After work hubby and I went to Firehouse Subs for dinner.  Only my second time there and I totally love their steak and cheese sandwich.  Yummy.

We then went to Jo-Ann Fabrics.  Well, I went and he sat in the car, so we were both happy.  I bought some more yard for some of my small craft projects to possibly sell on Etsy.  I only spent $15.00, so again, we were both happy.  :)

Next we went to Kroger and bought groceries for the weekend, etc.  That was really the only errand we needed to run for the weekend, which made for a really nice relaxed weekend.

Saturday:  For the first time in a really long time, we just stayed home...all day...until 5:30 or so.  I did a little cleaning, a little ready, 3 lessons on our Bible Study and a favorite thing...I took a nap or two.  haha

That evening we went to dinner and listened to live bluegrass with friends and family.  What a great night.  I had an awesome chef salad and being with friends and family is the best!

Sunday:  We had church in the morning but canceled the evening service as they were predicting the white death was coming.  So again, another relaxing day at home.  I completed my Bible Study Lessons for the week and did a lot of reading and maybe another nap. haha  Carolyn, Carina and I watched "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" that night.  I love that movie!

This seemed like just about the perfect weekend to me. So, how was your weekend?

Carina was helping her mommy with the laundry last night. Isn't she just the cutest little laundry helper?

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Etsy - Questions

I'm considering opening an Etsy Shop. I'm doing a lot of crocheting and thinking about trying to sell some small items I'm making.

Do any of you shop on Etsy or do you have a shop? I'd really like to know your opinions of Etsy.

First Day of Spring Hodgepodge

Click the Hodgepodge Button and join in with us for the first day of Spring.

1. March 20th is the first day of spring...is she a lion or a lamb in your part of the world?
No snow, except the possibility of flurries, but it's pretty chilly.  I can't wait for the lamb to show up.

2. What's the most dreaded task on your spring clean to-do list? Do you have a 'plan of attack'?
Just over-all spring cleaning of our house.  No real plan of attack, just as the spirit moves I guess.  :)

3. Peas...love 'em or hate 'em? What's a favorite dish you make using peas?
I love them and I like them best as peas and carrots mixed.  Just had them for supper Monday night.

4. Do you feel under appreciated?
Sometimes yes and sometimes no!  But I really have not complaint about it at this time anyway.  Catch me on a different day and it may be a whole new answer.  lol

5. Have you been using Google Reader? If so, what are you switching to now that GR has announced retirement? If not, how do you read your favorite blogs?
No, I don't use it.  I just put the blogs I read the most in my sidebar and as they update their blogs, they move to the top of the list.

6. Anne Bradstreet is credited with the following quote~

"If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome."

Agree or Disagree? Why?
I agree.  I just think we sometimes become immune to the good things around us and when we don't have them for awhile, we appreciate them more when they come back.

7. When did you last 'spring for something'? What was it?
Our trip to the Smoky's.

8. Insert your own random thought here?
I so loved seeing the daffodils in the Smoky's a couple weeks ago.  I can't wait to see them around here.

Weekend Wrap-Up

I've enjoyed the past weekend, even though it was pretty uneventful. Or maybe that's why I enjoyed it. lol  I have no pictures of anything, although Saturday morning I did try to video the birds singing.  However, they didn't cooperate.  They were singing beautifully when I went out with Lily, then I ran in an got the camera and they quieted down.  Really?  They know what a camera is?  haha

Anyway, Carolyn and I watched 2 movies and played with Carina.  I did some crocheting.  I completed week 2 of the Bible Study homework.  Tracy and I went to Red Lobster for lunch on Saturday and shopping at Walmart to get some of the weekly accessories.

We visited with my family on Saturday night at my mom and dad's.  That is always a fun time.  We never know who all will be there, but you can count on lots of talking and laughing and usually some good food is offered.  This week all the brothers and sisters and spouses were there except my baby brother and his wife.  And I believe a good time was had by all.  :)

Sunday, we had church and it was good because God is good.  We went to lunch with Tracy's parents at Buffalo Wild Wings.  Good food and good company plus TV screens all over the place.  Can't ask for a whole lot more.

Sunday night after church we Skyped with Kelli.  Found out she may get to come home for 2-3 weeks at the end of the semester.  We didn't think we'd get to see her til Christmas, so that was good news.

We got a text from Kerri this weekend and she thinks she is going to get to buy her first car.  She is so excited and I'm so happy for her.  I hope it all works out ok.  Of course, that means my baby really is growing up!  :(

So you see, it really wasn't a big eventful weekend, but it sure was a good one.  Hope you had a good weekend too.  What did you do?

A Wintery Day

Here are some pictures from last Wednesday. I believe this is the biggest snow we've had all season. It was very beautiful but I do hope that this is the last of it until next winter.

How are things in your neck of the woods?

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Clock the Hodgepodge Button to join in the fun.

1. Do you play games of luck/chance for money? Have you ever played bingo for money? Visited a casino? Placed a bet on a horse? Bought a lottery ticket?
No I do not play for money.  No I have never played bingo for money. Yes, I have visited a casino on a cruise ship one time.  No I have not bet on a horse, nor have I bought a lottery ticket.

2. Will you be preparing and/or dining on the traditional Corned Beef and Cabbage meal this St. Patrick's Day? Mashed-baked-hash browned-french fried...your favorite way to have potatoes?
I have no plans to prepare or dine on the traditional Corned Beef and Cabbage meal.  My favorite way to have potatoes is mashed.  Second favorite is a baked potato with butter and sour cream.

3. What's the last thing you felt 'green with envy' over?
Everyone and their brother has a smart phone, but I still just have the basic phone.  Some days I think I want a smart phone and then other days I wonder why.  Anyway, I can't think of anything else other than when someone is going to Disney World and I'm not.  haha

4. What's at the end of your rainbow?
Retirement and hopefully some travel with hubby.  But my guess is that this rainbow's end is still a little time away, but hopefully no more than 4 years or so.

5. March 12th marks the anniversary of the death of Anne Frank (June 12, 1929-March, 1945). Anne's diary detailing her time spent hiding from the Nazi's during the war ranks as one of the best selling books of all time. Besides your blog, do you keep any sort of diary or journal? Was this a habit you developed as a child or is journaling something new for you?
No, I don't keep a diary. I've started a few times, but have never stuck with it for very long.

6. What's an item in your home or closet that contains every color of the rainbow?
My yarn collection and my scrapbooking cabinet with all the cardstock and papers.

7. Write a limerick with you as the subject. You can do it!! Just remember this is a family friendly blog...don't make me get out my wooden spoon.
There once was a lady name Cathy
Who lately has been rather crafty
She loves to read and write blogs
And take pictures of her lovely pet dog
But to try to write this limerick just proves that she's daffy.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
This sweet little girl just turned 8 months old Tuesday!

Can you tell she loves having her picture taken?

Smoky Mountain National Park Trip In Photos

Here is a photo journey of our trip to the Smoky Mountain National Park last week.  We saw some beautiful sights, ate some great food, did a little geocaching and took lots of pictures.  We relaxed and rested and did some shopping too.  Hope you enjoy our pictures.

Mount LeConte

Overlooking Gatlinburg

Another overlook of Gatlinburg

Usually we don't take our picture, but I wanted to be able to prove that we both were really there.

We visited the place where Bush's Baked Beans are made.  There was a museum and this little cafe.  We had a nice lunch there and the museum was very interesting.  Unfortunately we couldn't actually go in the factory.

But here's a picture of the factory

Here is the Bush family home

This is an old mill we found on a little side road not far from the town where the Bush Factory was.  We actually stopped here looking for a geocache and we found it!!

We took a drive around Cades Cove and there were deer everywhere it seemed.

More Deer

There were 2 or 3 out in this woods

This is a Primitive Baptist Church in Cades Cove
The inside of the church

Another picture from outside.  I thought the sky was so pretty that day.

Now we're at a Missionary Baptist Church

I loved this shot with the sun shining down.

Here you can see the whole front of the church.  Notice the cemetery to the right.

Here's the inside.
Looking out the window of the church into the cemetery

The mountains and skies were so beautiful that day.  We took probably almost 3 hours just to do the Cades Cove Circle.

Another deer

These deer were close to the little village in Cades Cove.  Someone told me usually there is a buck that's with them, but he wasn't on this day.

The daffodils were blooming
Here's a short 1 minute video of a rushing stream.

I hope you enjoyed the photos of my trip.  We had a great time.  Although, it was a little strange without either of the girls with us.
