Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. It was decided on Sunday the Denver Broncos will meet the Seattle Seahawks in this year's Superbowl. So when was the last time you bowled? Not where you thought this question was going is it? Do you like to bowl? Are you any good?
It's probably been 19-20 years, back when my husband was in youth ministry. I don't think we've ever taken the girls bowling. I can't believe that. I wonder why we never did that together.  I always loved to bowl, but I am definitely not any good. My mom and dad were on leagues when we were little kids.  I can slightly remember going with them sometimes.  They were both pretty good I think.  In fact, my mom's name was up in the bowling alley for a long time as the highest woman bowler.

2. Should sports stars be role models?
Maybe not should be, but nevertheless, they are considered as such by many kids.

3. January is National Oatmeal month...are you a fan? How do you like your oats?
Yes, I like oats. Just the regular kinds with sugar and milk.

4. What is one book on your reading list for 2014?
The Narnia Series by C.S.Lewis.

5. What would you like your future self to say to your present self?
Retirement is awesome!  Why did you wait so long?

6. When scrolling through the TV guide, what is one movie title that makes you want to stop, grab the popcorn, and watch for a while?
Blindside would be one.  Although we have it on DVD and I can watch it anytime.  Still, whenever I find it on TV I always stop and watch for a while.

7. What are two style trends you hope never come back into fashion?
Big shoulder pads and big hair.
Picture from Internet

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Looking out my office window at work.
Is anyone else as tired of this snow as I am?  I know it doesn't matter if I'm tired of it.  It's gonna do what God says.  However, I am very tired of it.

  1. We haven't had any snow here, Cathy, but I'm so tired of these COLD temps! Bring on spring! Yes, The Blindside gets me every time, too...especially when he leaves to go to college.

  2. Blindside is another one I should have put on my list. We own it too, but I still stop and watch. I'm not tired of the snow yet. The super icy temps could come up a few degrees though! We're at 1 this morning and they say the winds may be up to 40 mph-yikes! I'm staying in so will just enjoy the beauty of the snow from inside my warm house : )

  5. Who could forget the 'big hair' of the 80's ?! I usually ended up cutting those shoulder pads out of my clothing :)
No snow here, but if we had any, I'd be tired of it by now. Our cold temperatures are bad enough!

  7. I love Blindside too...such a good movie! And believe it or not I LOVED those shoulder pads, haha. It took me a while to get over when they went out of style. Don't know if I'd love them still, but sure did then! Enjoy your day!

  8. I am more tired of the freezing cold temperatures. I am wearing a coat I bought 3 years ago and everyone thinks it is new because I didn't wear it much last year or the year before.

  9. snow? That's why we retired to the far south. LOL
But, it's been darned cold here these past weeks off and on. I'm ready for Spring. SPRING...not summer. The heat is just as bad as the cold. I know, I know...never a happy medium in south Texas. #s 4 and 5 are great answers.

  10. I'm more sick of the cold than the snow. I also wish we could get rid of all the ice before getting more snow. It's become quite the chore to walk around because there's ice under the snow, or just on the sidewalks, and since my neighbors won't put out ice melt, it's really annoying. I'm so ready for spring.

  11. I agree with shoulder pads and big hair. We have lots of snow here today and it looks so beautiful. Too cold to stay out for long but hope to get out to enjoy it for a bit.

  12. Got a chuckle out of the big hair comment! Although my hair isn't big anymore, it still naturally tends to want to poof up and wave in that 80's way, Now I have to make it not do what I had to make it do 25+ years ago!
