If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Friday Fragments and SkyWatch Friday.

Half-Past Kissin' Time
It's time for Friday Fragments again.  You know, those things that aren't enough for a post on their own, but you'd like to share them anyway.  Click on the button to visit Mrs. 4444's website at Half-Past Kissin Time. to see other fragments and hopefully, to join in the fun with us.

Also, at the bottom of this post is my contribution to SkyWatch Friday.

I completed another hat this week.  I love the color and texture of this one.  I've been having a lot of fun making these on a round loom.  If you are interested in making one, go to YouTube and search making a toboggan on a round loom.  It is so easy and fun.  I've started a red one and plan to put either a white, blue or black stripe in the middle.  It will have a pom pom on top.  I'm hoping one of these days to open my Etsy Shop (I've started, but never had the courage to actually open it).  But in the mean time, I'm getting some stock made.  I'll let you know, if and when I ever open it.

Hubby and I watched the movie "Captain Phillips" last night.  I can't even imagine living through something like that.  So glad I finally got to see it.  Thanks Rick, for loaning me the DVD.

Still working on Lucy's potty-training.  Really, I should have my head examined for getting a new puppy in the middle of winter.  haha  But she's already got my heart wrapped around her little paw.  She just makes me laugh all the time.  It's hard to get upset with her.  I mean that little face is adorable.  But here she is (and of course, I'm on the other end of that leash) out in the snow and cold before work this morning. haha

SkyWatch Friday

And while I was out with Lucy this morning, I took these 2 photos of the sky in our area.  Love the strip of color peeking through the trees out on the horizon as the sun is coming up.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. It's been said that one small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day. Do you think that's true? Do you find that an easy exercise most mornings? What's something positive you told yourself today? If you missed that boat, what's something positive you could tell yourself tomorrow?

I saw this on FB Tuesday morning posted by Patsy Clairmont and then I shared it too and now I'm sharing it with you.  I think this would be a really good thing to aim for any day.

2. There will be karaoke at the next party you attend...are you in? Or will you be faking a sore throat?

Depends on who is present.  So far I've never done karaoke.  Even though I used to sing at church a lot and have sung in quite a few weddings, I don't do it much anymore and I'd probably try to avoid karaoke in most instances.

3. January 29th is National Puzzle Day...what's something you've found puzzling recently?

This puzzle I just completed, which I showed the other day.  Here it is again.

4. Jigsaw, crossword, acrostic, logic, sudoku, word search...what's your favorite kind of puzzle, and when did you last work one?

I love jigsaw, crossword, sudoku and word search.  But probably jigsaw the most.

5. Recently a writer by the name of Amy Glass ruffled feathers with a post she wrote saying she looks down on young women with husbands and kids and she's not sorry. Among other things, she says women will be equal with men when we stop saying house work and real work are equally important. You can read the whole piece by clicking here.

What say you? Do you think men and women are equal in the 21st century? Why or why not?

Equal in the sight of God for sure.  Jesus died for all of us.  Equal in anyone else's sight.  I don't know.

6. What's a product you've noticed in the grocery store that you'd like to try, but haven't yet?

Can't think of anything right now.

7. The author, Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (aka Lewis Carroll) was born this week in 1832 (January 27th). Which character from his celebrated novel, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, would you most like to meet, and why? Here's a link to a character list if you need help on this one.

Maybe Alice?  I have never read the book or seen a movie of it.  It has never interested me at all, even though I know it's a Disney movie.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

I sure wish I was back here right now!!

Baby, It's Cold Out There!!

No wonder Lucy doesn't want to go outside. Can you really blame her? She's scared to death she'll tinkle ice cubes! lol

So glad we have indoor plumbing.  Can you imagine living back in the day with outhouses?  Thank you Lord for setting me in the century that you did.  Seriously!

Weekend Wrap-Up

My sweet little Carina sleeping with the Minnie Mouse hubby and I got her for Easter last year.  Her mommy took this picture so I could see.  Her mommy made the quilt she is sleeping on too.

I completed this puzzle Friday night.  It was a really fun puzzle to work.

We went out for lunch on Saturday and to the pet store.  Lucy is teething and seems to need to chew a lot, so we got her some new chew toys.

Here she is with one of them.  I think she needs her face cleaned.

Chewing again.

Here she is with another one of them.

It's been a great weekend.  With lots of crafting, JAG watching and just spending time with my hubby.  How was your weekend?

Friday Fragments

Half-Past Kissin' Time

Click here to join in with Mrs 4444 for Friday Fragments.

I don't have too many fragments running around in my head right now. Well at least not any that are really blog-worthy.

Pretty much all I've done this week is go to work and come home for the evening.  Between the snow and cold temperatures, I haven't wanted to be out too much.  I've been doing quite a bit of crocheting in the evenings.  That and some reading and computer time and my evenings are pretty full.

Oh, the other thing we've done is doctor's appointments.  I had one on Tuesday - good report.  Hubby had one on Wednesday - good report and he even got taken off one of his meds!  And then we took my mom to an appointment on Wednesday afternoon.  Oh the joy of getting older.

A couple of other bloggers have been talking about working jigsaw puzzles.  Well, it got me in the mood and since we've been home so much, I started one Wednesday night.  I'll probably finish it tonight.  I love working puzzles, except I get so consumed, I can't do anything else until it's completed.  haha

I'm listening to the 3rd book in the Divergent series.  Very good series.  Have any of you read them?  I know the movie is coming out soon for the first one.  Looking forward to seeing that. Here's a trailer for it.

So yeah, that's my week.  Cold, snow, work, home, puzzles, crafting, reading and doctor's appointments. Sounds good to me.

It's really, really cold around here. But even though it's so cold (or maybe because of it?) the sunsets are beautiful. Here is from tonight. I stepped out the back door for just a second to snap this.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. It was decided on Sunday the Denver Broncos will meet the Seattle Seahawks in this year's Superbowl. So when was the last time you bowled? Not where you thought this question was going is it? Do you like to bowl? Are you any good?
It's probably been 19-20 years, back when my husband was in youth ministry. I don't think we've ever taken the girls bowling. I can't believe that. I wonder why we never did that together.  I always loved to bowl, but I am definitely not any good. My mom and dad were on leagues when we were little kids.  I can slightly remember going with them sometimes.  They were both pretty good I think.  In fact, my mom's name was up in the bowling alley for a long time as the highest woman bowler.

2. Should sports stars be role models?
Maybe not should be, but nevertheless, they are considered as such by many kids.

3. January is National Oatmeal month...are you a fan? How do you like your oats?
Yes, I like oats. Just the regular kinds with sugar and milk.

4. What is one book on your reading list for 2014?
The Narnia Series by C.S.Lewis.

5. What would you like your future self to say to your present self?
Retirement is awesome!  Why did you wait so long?

6. When scrolling through the TV guide, what is one movie title that makes you want to stop, grab the popcorn, and watch for a while?
Blindside would be one.  Although we have it on DVD and I can watch it anytime.  Still, whenever I find it on TV I always stop and watch for a while.

7. What are two style trends you hope never come back into fashion?
Big shoulder pads and big hair.
Picture from Internet

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Looking out my office window at work.
Is anyone else as tired of this snow as I am?  I know it doesn't matter if I'm tired of it.  It's gonna do what God says.  However, I am very tired of it.

Looking Good!

Had my 6 month check-up at the Doctor today.  Blood results were good and numbers are improving.  8 lbs less this time than in July.  Doctor very pleased and so am I.  Thank you God!

Now to just keep things heading in this direction!  Found this on the internet and thought it was rather fitting.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Thank goodness, my weekend isn't over yet. I love being surprised with a 3 day weekend. I didn't realize until late Friday that today was Martin Luther King day and that I was off. Total elation! :)

Since it was snowing so much on Friday, hubby and I stopped on the way home and got Chinese. We stayed in all evening and watched shows from Season 1 of Jag and Deep Space 9. He was on his computer some and I was doing some crafting. I finished these 2 headbands for my daughter and her boyfriend.

Also on Friday night, Miss Lucy got ahold of my hook that I use with the loom for making these hats and proceeded to tear up the handle.  She is definitely in the full-out puppy mode now.  Just running from one thing to the next to see what she can get into.

Saturday we relaxed around the house.  I did some reading and napping.  Then we went out to lunch at O'Charley's.  Yummy!  And then ran some errands and came home for the evening.  I made a pot of potato soup and started a new hat and we watched some more Season 1 shows from Jag and Deep Space 9.

Here's a picture of Lucy watching the snow out the back french doors.  See the scratched up wood on the bottom of the door.  That's from Lily scratching when she wanted to go out.  We'll give Lucy a little chance to grow up some and then hopefully we can get that fixed.

Sunday we got up and got ready for church.  We went over and found out the lot was really bad and decided to cancel services.  Sure missed seeing everyone and getting to worship together.  Since we were already out and the roads weren't too bad, we went to Bob Evans for breakfast and then came home and had another relaxing day.  Some napping happened, some watching TV and some crafting and 3 loads of laundry.  Here's the hat I finished.

And now it's Monday and I'm still off.  We slept in a little and now we'll be heading out to meet Charlie and Kerri for lunch.  Then most likely we'll be back home for the day.  We have some housework to do and then back to more crafting for me, I hope.

This may all sound boring to you, but I have so totally enjoyed the chance to be home and spend time with my hubby and my dog.  Hope you all had a terrific weekend.

Friday Fragments

Click here to join in with Mrs4444's and the Friday Fragments.

I've been working on making another hat and guess who decided she likes my yarn. Last night, while watching TV with hubby, I was working on it and had set the blue yarn aside and was working with the tan. When I went to get the blue yarn I couldn't find it anywhere around me. Finally I got up an found it stretch clear across my bedroom floor. Yep, Miss Lucy decided she likes to play with my yarn. Now mind you, she has tons of toys and socks to play with, but nooooo, she wants my yarn.

So I gathered it all up and in the picture below you will see that it is a tangled mess in my chair, along with the little culprit. She doesn't look like she feels the least bit guilty, does she.?

This is the hat I was working on.  It's almost completed.  I still need to put the pom pom on top.

I really don't have anything else to frag about.  Hope you all have a great weekend.  We're supposed to get a lot more snow around here...so stay safe and warm where ever you are.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Click the Hodgepodge button above to join in the fun.

1. Are you a force to be reckoned with? In what way?
Probably not.

2. What are two things you love about the wintertime? Or, if love feels like too strong a word, what are two things you 'like' about winter?
Hot Chocolate and sitting by a crackling fire with my hubby.  Although, we don't have a fireplace, but I'd love it if we could sit by one.  :)

3. Pomegranate, kumquat, persimmon, kiwi, and guava are all fruits said to have health benefits, particularly during the winter months. Do you have a favorite on the list? Are there any on the list you haven't tried?
Kiwi would be my favorite on this particular list.  I don't think I've ever tried guava or kumquat.
.
4. I passed a local church yesterday and noticed they had this on their outdoor sign- 'When all else fails, do the right thing.' Your thoughts?
Why wait until all else fails?  Why not do the right thing first?

5. Do you ski? According to one list I've seen, the top 5 ski destinations for 2014 are-St. Anton Austria, Whistler Canada, Cortina Italy, Tahoe USA, and Zermatt Switzerland. Of the five listed, which would you most like to visit? We can make skiing optional if that helps the non-skiers with their answer.
No, I don't ski. St. Anton Austria just to visit and sit by that cracking fire (see #2)

6. What's the last thing you looked for online? (Besides my blog!)
One of the last things was prices for a Disney trip.

7. What saying, slogan, quote, or motto have you seen lately that inspires you for the new year?
I like this from a recent sermon of my husbands.
T+HH+GE=SG
Time + Holy Habits + Godly Encouragement = Spiritual Growth

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I just saw "Saving Mr. Banks".  I totally loved it!  It wasn't exactly what I expected, but I loved it.  It was awesome!!!  Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson...Wow!

2nd Random - Lucy did awesome at home all day by herself.  We came home to no accidents and nothing torn up.  Hope she keeps it up. :)

Movies And Puppies

Well, today is the true test of how the puppy is going to do with 8 1/2 hours to herself at home.  We decided for this day to leave her roaming the main part of the house.  There are no carpet in this part, so hopefully nothing to ruin if she has an accident.  We left the TV on for comfort and she has plenty of food, water and toys.  We'll see what happens!  Good Luck Lucy!

Finally, tonight I get to go see "Saving Mr. Banks".  I absolutely can't wait!!

Weekend Wrap-Up

It's been a good weekend. Kelli's last weekend before heading back to school.

* Friday evening Kelli, Tracy and I all just stayed home. We ordered in for supper and just watched TV together and played with the puppy and had a nice quiet evening at home.

* Saturday morning Tracy and I took the puppy for 2 more shots. She's gained 1 1/2 pounds since she's been with us. She is doing really well and we love her alot.

* After we took the pup back home, Tracy and I went out and ran our usual Saturday errands (you know, groceries, etc.) and then he took me to lunch at Red Lobster. Yummy!

* Kelli went out Saturday evening with a girlfriend and Tracy and I and Lucy all went to my mom and dad's to visit with the family. Good time just visiting and being together.

* Sunday morning we went to church and then met Tracy's family at a local pizza place for lunch. Lots of pictures were taken. After all Kelli has a new camera that she is having a blast with.

Kelli and Kerri

Charlie and Kerri

Cousins - We have been blessed with a good-looking family, haven't we?
Me and Tracy (it was totally an accident that we dressed in the same color, but too good of a photo opportunity to pass up)
And that's about it for our weekend.  How was yours?

Friday Fragments

Go here to join in the fun of Friday Fragments.

It's been quiet around our house this week. Not a lot to post (even in fragments).

It has been really cold here - but it seems it's pretty cold most everywhere. haha

Kelli heads back to school on Monday. I know she can't wait! I love having her here but I know I will also enjoy getting to use that bathroom again all to myself.  Does that make me selfish?

I think there is a little puppy at our house that is really gonna miss her. Once Kelli leaves, that little girl will be by herself during the day when mommy and daddy are at work.

Me thinks mommy and daddy are going to get a really good work-out at night when we get home from work after that puppy has rested all day. At least I hope she rests. Hoping we don't come home to a torn up house.

We still haven't found a gate to lock her up in a room without her finding a way out. I hate to keep her locked in her cage all day, when she already sleeps all night in there. Anyone have any ideas. She is quite the climber!  Also, I really don't want to close her behind a door either because I'm afraid she'll scratch it up.
