If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Friday Fragments

Half-Past Kissin' Time

*Back in November while we were in South Carolina, I did something I have wanted to do for years.  I got a 2nd piercing in my ears.  I love dangly earrings and I love posts and this way I can wear both.  Most people haven't even noticed because normally, my hair covers my ears.  But I notice and I really like it and I'm so glad I did something just for me.

*Anyway, since having it done, I've purchased quite a few inexpensive post earrings and I needed a way to keep them organized and quickly and easily accessible.  So Saturday I went to Hobby Lobby and purchased a couple squares of foam in the material department.  They are about an inch thick and are 14" x 14" squares.  They fit almost perfectly in the top drawer of my chest.  I stick the posts into the foam and it keeps them in place and the dangles just lay on top.  The backs to the earrings are in a plastic dish which keeps them all together.  Talk about easy and convenient.  I love it!  :)

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What is something you'll never forget about the age you are right now?
I don't know, I can't remember!

Pinterest!
 2. What's a household chore you've never done? How have you managed that???
I have no idea. And I really don't want to know, because if I found out I haven't done something I should, then that means I may have to start doing it and I definitely do not want any more household chores.  ha

3. Does nature shape our personalities more than nurture? Explain?
That's a debate that I don't really have an answer for.   Since our girls are adopted, that is something we have talked about off and on over the years.  I think both probably shape us equally. I see signs of us in their personalities and they have since met some of their biological family and they say they see similarities there too. So as I said, I think it's both.

4. Friday (February 28th) is 'Something on a Stick Day'...funny because Zoanna over at A Penchant for Pens recently sent me an idea for a question relating to this topic. What's your favorite food eaten on a stick?
A Mickey Bar eaten while at Disney World.

My first ever Mickey Bar eaten in 2008

5. Which of your five senses do you treasure most, and why?
Sight, I think.  Because my mother is losing her sight and I know how hard that has been for her.  Although she is absolutely amazing.

6. What's the best music, theatre, or sporting venue you've been to? What made it great?
That Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH.  Why? Because it was filled to almost capacity with women who had come for a weekend of "Women of Faith."  Awesome!  Nothing quite like an arena full of women praising the Lord.

7. It's the last week of the month...in five words or less bid adieu to your February.
You have been rather disappointing!

Have a great day!!

Weekend Wrap-Up

We still have not celebrated our anniversary.  Hubby is not quite up to par yet.  But hopefully, next weekend.

Friday, I left work to go to the ATM and pick-up some lunch to eat at my desk.  While out, I heard my car make a funny clunking sound.  Scared me to death.  It wasn't the engine, but something under the vehicle.  I called hubby and he came to where I was and he could hear it (although, it wasn't making as much noise then, of course).  Anyway, he followed me to our mechanic's garage.  He checked it later in the afternoon and found out the sway bar had broken.  Don't exactly know what that is, but he ordered it and it should be fixed today or tomorrow.  We went home that evening and ordered in and just relaxed and watched a couple JAG episodes.

Saturday, we took Lucy to the vet to get her stitches out.  Everything was good and she is done there for a year.  Yay!!  Here's Lucy sleeping for the first time in the bed her grandma and grandpa gave her.

Later that day, we did our Saturday errands and then went home and took a nap.  That evening we went to mom and dad's and visited with the family.  All of us were there except my little brother and his family.  My cousin and his wife came too!  A good time was had by all.  I love talking and laughing with my family.

Sunday, we had 2 good services.  Hubby continued on Sunday morning with his series on forgiveness.  Sometimes that forgiveness is hard to put into practice, but it is a very necessary thing.

Kerri and Charlie came to church Sunday night and then went to Frisch's with us for supper.  It's always a good thing to get to spend time with my daughter (and Charlie too) and catch up on their lives.

Well, that was my weekend in a nutshell!  Now tell me about yours.

Friday Fragments

Half-Past Kissin' Time

This is the only fragment I can even begin to put together right now. Saw this on FB and thought it was pretty funny, especially if you love the movie "Frozen" by Disney. This is one of our local weather guys. Hope you enjoy!

Be sure to click the Friday Fragment button above.  I'm sure there will be a lot of people with a lot more to say in their fragments.

Have a great weekend, Everyone!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What's the biggest change since your childhood in the way people think or act?
I think people are more into "what's in it for me".

2. The Olympic Biathlon involves cross country skiing broken up with either two or four rounds of target shooting. Which part of that would stress you out more? Or would you love them both equally?
Both would stress me since I've never done either.  But I think I'd like target shooting more.

3. February is National Canned Food Month...what is your most often purchased canned food item? What was in the last can you opened?
Soup and I just had chicken noodle soup the last two days as I've been sick and that is a go to staple since I was a child and we were sick.

4. What river (anywhere in the world) would you most like to cruise?
The Mississippi

5. It's the middle of the night and you can't sleep...what do you do? Count sheep? Toss and turn? Watch television? Or do you get up and do something productive?
I read.
6. How important is keeping your cool?
I think it's very important, but I'm not necessarily very good at it.  It's something the Lord and I are working on.

7. I've got white stuff on the brain so why not run with it? White lie, wave the white flag, white knuckle it, white wash a situation, or white as a sheet...which phrase could most recently apply to your own life in some way?
Maybe wave the white flag...see #6.  Sometimes I need to do this to keep my cool.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I've been sick since Sunday night and Monday was a holiday off work.  No fair!  haha  Oh well, it's back to work today.  I'm not fully recovered, but getting there and now hubby has what I had. Let me tell you this.  That is no way to spend your 25th wedding anniversary.  Yep, yesterday, hubby and I were married 25 years.  It's been the best years of my life.  I love that man more and more every day.  So hopefully, by the weekend we'll both feel like going out and celebrating.  But sick or not, I'd rather spend my time with him than anyone I know.

Happy Anniversary Sweetheart!

Friday Fragments

Half-Past Kissin' Time

Click the Friday Fragment button to join in with the rest of us.  Come on...you know you want to! :)

* Lucy is home and recovering very well from her surgery.  She's running and jumping some, but not too much (at least I hope).  I'm not sure who's happier that she's home...hubby, me or her.

* We're supposed to get more snow today.  Although, I think the worst of it is supposed to stay a little further south of us.  We're just getting around and inch or two.  They are also saying, we're supposed to be in the 50's next week.  I can't wait.  That's like a heat wave.  May have to get out my shorts and flip flops.  haha

* Hubby and I are having fun with our new iPhones.  I've bought a couple apps and gotten some free ones too.  So you people, that have had smartphones for a long time, what are some of the apps you just can't live without?  Inquiring minds want to know.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Click the button on the left to join in the Hodgepodge fun with us.

1.What makes love last?
If you're talking marriage love, then determine when you marry that it is forever.  Never think for one second that if I don't like it, I can just divorce. And a good rule for anyone you love (including spouse, children, friends, etc is, don't expect perfection from the one you love and don't try to change them.  Just keep on loving them.  And hopefully they'll do the same.

2. The Beatles made their US debut fifty years ago this week. Are you a fan? If so, what's your favorite Beatles tune?
No, I have never really been what I'd call a fan.  However, when I look at a list of their music, I really did like quite a few of their songs.  Let It Be and I Wanna Hold Your Hand are probably a couple of favorites.

3. Valentine's Day-your thoughts? Do you celebrate in any way? Do anything special for the people you love? Expect anything special from the people who love you?
Hubby and I typically go out to dinner to celebrate and I send my girls cards and sometimes little gifts and candies.

4. Steak or burger...you have to choose. Now that that's settled, how do you like it?
Steak - Prime Rib specifically and medium suits me.  In fact, that's what we had for dinner last night.  We did our Valentine Dinner early.

5. The Hodgepodge lands on the birthdate (February 12th) of Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of the United States of America. Lincoln is quoted as saying, 'Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test his character give him power.' Do you agree? Why or why not?
Yes, I agree.  I think power can mess us up if not handled right.

6. Honest Abe's image is featured on the US penny (1 cent coin) so I'm wondering...what do you do with your pennies (or your country's equivalent)? It's been suggested the US stop making the penny, and two bills have been introduced proposing just that, but neither were approved. What say you?
We put pennies in a glass jar, along with other change and use it for our Disney trips.  And yes, I am one of those people who will always bend over and pick up a penny!

7. Do you think pop culture deserves serious study?
Can't say I really have much of an opinion on this.  At least not right now.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Lucy comes home this afternoon after being spayed.  She's been gone since Monday morning.  Sure do miss her.  How in the world do you learn to love something so much so quickly? :)

Weekend Wrap-Up

Friday night was a good evening at home with hubby and the puppy.

Saturday, we met Kerri and Charlie for lunch at Qdoba's. This was my first time to eat at Qdoba's. I really enjoyed the food a lot. The company was even better. Then it was off to the grocery and back home for another quiet evening. We spent a lot of time while watching JAG playing with our new phones and adding some new apps. I'm really enjoying Instagram and Instacollage a lot.

Fun with Instacollage
On a side note:  We took Lucy to the vet this morning.  She's getting spayed tomorrow morning and then we can pick her up on Wednesday after work.  I think she looks so sad in this picture, almost like she knows what is going to happen.

Sunday, we got up and got ready for church. About 30 minutes or so before leaving for church, it started snowing really hard. We went ahead and went and then decided after we got there to cancel the service. The lot was just not good for our people to have to walk on. So afraid someone will slip and get hurt.

This is what it looked like driving into our subdivision
So after calling everyone and canceling the morning service, hubby and I went to breakfast at Bob Evans and then home. I took a nap and then just enjoyed the day at home. More and more, I love just spending time in my home. It's one of my most favorite places to be.

Later Sunday evening, Carolyn and Carina came to visit. Carina and Lucy had a ball running around the house playing together. They are just the perfect size for each other.

Now that is how my weekend went. How was yours?

Friday Fragments

Half-Past Kissin' Time

Even though I took Monday off (not feeling well) and 2 hours off early on Wednesday, this has still been the..longest..week..on..record!  Almost as long as that sentence I just typed.  haha

Too much snow on the ground and with that layer of ice on top of it, it's rather hard to walk in.  I crunch every step I take.  And Lucy is so funny.  She's so light, she just runs around on top of the snow.  Hysterical.  I took a video of her on it and a couple pics.  I'll have to post them later as I'm doing this at work and the pictures are on my PC at home.

Hubby and I have just moved up into the 21st century.  We got our first smartphone last night.  We chose to get the iPhone 5s.  I think I'm going to like it.  But right now I'm just trying to figure out how to use it.  haha

I'm on Instagram now.  There's a link in my sidebar, if you are interested.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Are we always responsible for our actions? Are there any exceptions?
If we are in our right mind, I believe we are responsible for our actions.  Are there any exceptions? Possibly, such as a medical condition or mental condition; but then those could fall under being in our right mind.

2. Has anyone from your home town become famous?
Woody Harrelson is from my hometown and so is Marty Roe from Diamond Rio.

Woody as Haymitch in the Hunger Games

Marty Roe of Diamond Rio

3. January was National Slow Cooker month. Do you own a slow cooker/crock pot? Did you use it last month? What's a favorite dish you make using a slow cooker or crock pot?
Yes, we have a slow cooker and in fact we used it last week.  Hubby made a beef roast. Yummy!

4. How do you feel about private companies collecting data about you?
I'm not real fond of it, but it does seems to be the way things are ow.

5. The Games of the 2014 Winter Olympics kick off with their opening ceremony this coming Friday....will you be watching? Which Winter Olympic event would you most like to see in person? Have you ever been to Russia? Any desire to go, Olympics or otherwise?
If we're home, we may watch (we did last winter Olympics).  I'd like to see women's ice skating.  No, I've never been to Russia.  Let me put it this way, I wouldn't turn down a free trip to Russia.  But there are a lot of other places I'd rather see first.

6. Share a good or bad sports related memory from your childhood or teen years.
I was never really involved in sports in my childhood.  I know I loved playing baseball or basketball in our yard, but that would've been about it.

7. What's a must have song for you on a work out play list? If you don't work out, run, swim, bike, walk, or anything else that could be construed as 'exercise', then what's a song that movtivates you to at least get up off the couch?
Here's a good one.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Miss Carina is getting so big.  Love this little girl.

We're listening to bluegrass music.  That little girl loves her some bluegrass!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Not a lot going on this weekend, but it was a good one.

Friday evening we came home from work, fixed supper and just relaxed.

Saturday we got up and went to Newport Aquarium. We got an annual pass this year for Christmas and this was the first time the weather's been decent enough to go. We had a good time.

Mighty Mike

Skin Diver

Jelly Fish

Jelly Fish

More Jelly Fish and people on the other side of the tank. :)

Saturday evening hubby and I stayed home and  relaxed.  Also, I cut his hair and trimmed his beard.  Here are a couple of cute pictures of Ms. Lucy in her favorite place on the couch.

Totally sacked out!
Sunday we went to church and then out to lunch with the in-laws.  Had some really good pizza at Marion's Piazza.

Hubby started a new sermon series last week on Forgiveness.  Here are a couple of statements from the first 2 sermons that have really stuck with me:

1. "Everyone thinks forgiveness is a great idea...until we have something to forgive."

2. "We will forgive to the extent we appreciate how much we have been forgiven."

3. "Having a resentment is like drinking poison and praying for the other guy to die."

I just keep thinking about this forgiveness thing.  It's not easy, but we must do it.  Matthew 6: 14-15 says: "For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins."  I don't know about you, but I think this forgiveness thing is very important and something I need to work on in my life.

I didn't go to work today as I wasn't feeling very well this morning.  I lay in bed and finished reading the book I've been reading.  It's called "Angels Watching Over Me" by Michael Phillips.  I got it free on Amazon for Kindle.  It takes place during the Civil War.  If you get a chance, you should give it a read.  Very good.

Well, that's all for my weekend.  Hope you had a good one and that your week is even better.
