Weekend Wrap-Up

I took a long weekend. I just couldn't make myself come in for one day on Friday, so I took a vacation day. I love long weekends. We really didn't do anything big, but it was so nice to be off. I'm not really sure how I'm going to make myself work 5 days in a row now. haha

Thursday we just stayed home all day. We watched some TV and we worked on our non-existent filing system. We now have a filing system and hopefully it will help make life a little easier. Hubby pays the bills and now I will be scanning what we need to keep for tax purposes and shredding them. Hopefully, we will end up with a lot less paper in boxes (our old filing system lol) in our house. I also spent some time updating my Etsy account. I had a bunch of stuff made that I had never put on Etsy (check the pics and link in my sidebar. I'm getting a lot of views, but no sales yet. Hopefully soon. Now, I need to get back to my knitting and crocheting.

Friday, we went to Red Lobster for lunch and ran some errands. We spent most of the rest of the day at home. This may sound boring to some, but I get so little time at home, so I really enjoy it.

Saturday, I spent most of the day at my brother's house with my other siblings. We have to start going through things and deciding what to do with everything. It's really a very strange experience to go through someone else's house. Not something I really enjoy. But you gotta do what you gotta do. One thing I came home with was one of his hats. It's a camo hat with 2 tiny lights on the brim so he could see in the dark. I wore it all afternoon and evening that day and now it is hanging in my home. It makes me happy to have that hat. A friend told me later that he wore that hat whenever he went on a motorcycle ride with them and really loved it.

Saturday evening we met Kerri and Charlie for dinner and enjoyed just sitting and talking together.  Sunday was church and then Kerri and Charlie met us at my brother's and helped us move a couple of chairs and then they took our big red sectional sofa home with them. My livingroom is almost empty now. But it's kind of nice for a change. We'll get a love seat or something sometime in the future, but in the meantime I'm going to enjoy it like it is.

So now it's Monday morning and back to a regular work week. Hope you all had a great beginning to 2015.

  1. Your Friday off sounds just about perfect to me. It's wonderful, sometimes, just to have time to spend doing "little things".
I feel your pain, about going through your brother's house, and deciding what to do with the stuff. We still haven't finished going through my MIL's house, and she's been gone well-over a year..

  3. Your week-end sounds WONDERFUL to me too. I love it when hubby gets long week-ends. He got his choice between a long one for Christmas week or New Years weeks and he chose the Christmas one so he did work on Friday however. I remember going through my mom's house after my step dad died and we moved her in here with me. What an ordeal! It took us weeks and weeks. We had a deadline too though which added to our pressure. Funny, it's just what my hubby said before he left for work this morning..."don't know if I can make it through 5 full days, lol" Enjoy your week!

  4. I always tried to take a vacation day rather than go back to work for one day after a holiday. And a day at home is always something to be relished ... at least in my world. Yes, I'm a homebody! Unless it involves the beach ... Or my grands. ;-)

  6. Wishing you all the best with your ETSY site, Cathy! I have no doubt that items will start selling soon! I know what you mean about going through someone else's stuff. I had to do that with my parents and my brother. I did find some treasures during the process...a few things I'll always cherish. You wear that hat well!

  9. My dad and I cleaned out my aunt & uncle home. It was difficult. I am so sorry you are going through that. The rest of your weekend sounded like it was very good.
