This is my first time to participate in the Winter Reading Challenge. I really haven't read too many books, but I thought I'd join in anyway. Here are the few I've either read or listened to the audio version of.
House, by Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker. I am currently listening to this book at work. I love to read these guys books, but they scare me while I'm reading them. I'm not a real fan of horror stuff, but their books are more than that. They are both christian authors and usually their books deal with spiritual things. Although, sometimes it takes awhile before you figure that out. House is really intense and I can't wait to see how it all turns out in the end. Depending on how work goes, I'll probably finish it tomorrow.
The Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis. I just finished reading this book on my Kindle. I got it from the Library. I tried to read this once before and got bored with it. When I read this time, I really enjoyed it. I'm not sure why I thought it was boring before. If you've ever watched the movies, The Chronicles of Narnia, this books is the first in the series. I love the things this books reveals about what I saw in the movies. For instance, where the light post came from, and where the wardrobe came from, and where the witch came from and who the professor in the first movie is. If you love the movies, you really should read this book. Very good!! I'm hoping to start book 2 next.
The Tattered Quilt by Wanda E. Brunstetter. This is another one that I listened to while at work. It's #2 in a series of the Half-Stitched Quilting Club. This book is very humorous and fun to read. But the characters all seem to deal with some serious things too. It's a fun read, but you also learn some about the Amish lifestyle. I recommend both of the books in this series.

I really need to read the Narnia series.... I hear amazing things
With the grandson here almost everyday I don't find a lot of time to read. I never thought bout getting books to listen to. Will have to check that out at the library. But I plan on doing a lot of reading while vacation!

ReplyDeleteI want to listen to more audio books - a perfect way to combine reading and quilting. I signed up for audible through amazon.com, but after my trial period, their prices for audio books are considerably more than what I'd like to pay. I haven't read any Frank Peretti in a long time ... what else has he written that you'd recommend (with or without Ted Dekker). And are there any Ted Dekker books that you'd recommend. Perhaps I can "buy" a few before my free trial period ends. Thanks!!
