Thankful Thursday

http://www.knitbygodshand.com/2015/04/thankful-thursday-link-up-17.html

Thing's I'm thankful for this week:

1.  While I'm not thankful that my dad has had 2 strokes in the past weekend, I am thankful that he seems to have recovered from both completely.

2.  Also, I'm not thankful that my mom fell on Sunday, but I am thankful that she seems to be fine now.

3.  I'm thankful that I still have both of my parents.

4.  I'm thankful that we got our riding mower and self-propelled mower into the shop to be worked on.  And although, it may take as much as 3 weeks, I'm thankful that Kerri is going to come and mow for us with our old push mower.  Don't think hubby or I could handle that!

5.  I'm so thankful for our church and all the people there.  I love them so much and they treat us so good.  Hubby and I are truly blessed.

So what are you thankful for?  Why not write you own Thankful Thursday post and then link up with "Knit by God's Hand"?  Then I will try to come by and read and comment on yours.

Thankful Thursday

http://www.knitbygodshand.com/2015/04/thankful-thursday-link-up-16.html

Things I am thankful for right now.  They are in no particular order, other than just the way they come to mind.

*Time spent with Kelli this past weekend
*Kerri's beautiful wedding
*Good friends
*Co-workers who totally get me (at least on some days)
*a husband who brings me to work and then goes and picks up some breakfast and brings it to me and then takes me to pick up some lunch later in the day (he takes such good care of me)
*my puppy who makes me smile all the time
*a really good and interesting Bible study at church last night
*beautiful sunny day with blue skies - even though it's a little cold, it's still beautiful
*the total chaos in our home last Thursday evening because Kelli and Kerri and Carolyn and Carina were all over eating Chinese, Pizza and watching the new Annie movie together...fun times

I think I'll stop here for now.  So what are you thankful for?  Tell me in the comments or write your own post and go over and link up with Rebecca Jo at Knit by God's Hand.

Wednesday Hodgepodge.

1. Have you ever had to wear a uniform? If yes, tell us more. Did you love it or hate it?
Yes, when I was a dispatcher for the police I had to wear a uniform.  I hated it.  Whenever I was out in public in it, I felt like a fish in a fishbowl.  Like everyone was watching me.  That being said, it was nice though to know what I was wearing everyday and it sure saved on my personal clothes budget.  haha
Man, I sure was young here.  Probably around 21-22.  Look, that's even a manual typewriter behind me.  Times sure have changed in this dispatch center over the past 39 years.

2. April 22nd is Earth Day. What is one thing you do personally to be a good steward of planet Earth?
I try to recycle (at least some).

3. Brown rice, quinoa, or couscous...your healthy grain of choice? How often are one of the three on your menu at home? Given a choice between white rice, brown rice, wild rice, and fried rice which would you go for?
I don't like couscous and I've never tried quinoa, so I guess brown rice.  However I prefer white rice and probably have it maybe once every couple of weeks when we eat Chinese.

4. In your opinion, who has the best job ever?
The Fairy Godmother at Walt Disney World.  I want to be her when I grow up some day.  :)

She just looks so sweet and she gets to be in the parades too!!

5. What's a situation in your life currently requiring patience?
Helping my parents adjust to being in the Senior Center.

6. Do you live your life around days of the week? Explain.
Probably.  Monday-Friday is all about work and taking care of the house.  Saturday is errand day and play day if there is time.  Sunday is all about church.

7. In a nod to the A to Z challenge happening around town this month, what 'R word' best describes your April?
Rainy

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I just love this picture from Kerri's wedding.  This is her little cousin (the flower girl)

Dreaming of being a bride someday!

We Had a Wedding This Weekend!

God blessed beyond measure this weekend. He gave us a glorious day for a wedding on Saturday. The weather was absolutely perfect and so was most everything else. My daughter planned a beautiful wedding and it came off with barely a hitch. She was so happy and that made this mama (and her daddy) very, very happy!

Thought I'd just share a few random photos that different ones took and shared on FB.

They were very nice to each other!  lol

I love you Kerri and Charlie and am praying God will continue to bless you on this new journey together!

Thankful Thursday

**  I'm thankful for Rebecca Jo at Knit by God's Hand for hosting this meme each Thursday.  It reminds me to be intentional about giving God thanks.

**  My oldest flew in last night for her sister's wedding.  Hubby and I picked her up at the airport and then dropped her off at Newport on the Levee for her sister's bachelorette party.

**  Both girls will be at our house tonight.

**  Sitting in an observation area of the airport last night and watching planes landing and taking off.  Time with my hubby doing what we love.

**  Finding a safe place for my parents to live and seeing that they are starting to get involved and participate in some of the activities.

**  So glad I still have my parents.

So what are you thankful for today.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Speaking of April 15th...what's the most 'taxing' thing you've done recently?
Moved my parents into a Senior Center/Nursing Home.

2. When did you last take a taxi somewhere and where was that somewhere?
I've never ridden in a Taxi that I can recall.

3. What's something you can do today that you couldn't do a year ago?
My mind is blank.

4. How often is chicken (in some form or fashion) on your menu at home? Which of the following would you most like to see on your table tonight...a chicken salad sandwich, your mom's fried chicken, a Chick-fil-A meal, Cracker Barrel's chicken n' dumplings, a roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings, or 'hold the chicken, I'm a vegetarian'...?
Cracker Barrel's chicken n' dumplings.  One of my most favorite meals at Cracker Barrel.  Of course, I'd prefer my mom's chicken n' dumplings, except she doesn't cook any more.

5. What was your favorite television program when you were a kid? What characters do you remember the most?

The Mod Squad with Pete, Linc and Julie

6. What was the last piece of 'art' you made?
If you want to call it "art" it would be one of the hats, or headbands/earwarmers I made this winter.

7. What frustrates you most about the Internet?
All the ads.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
My baby gets married Saturday.
