Thankful Thursday

I love Thankful Thursday. I love praising my Lord and thanking Him for His love and mercy and grace He shows me everyday.

Right now I'm having my first chemotherapy treatment. And while I wish I didn't need to do this, I am so thankful that it exists, so I can get well and have something else to praise the Lord for. So far I'm doing fine. And I truly do know no matter what Jesus is here with me.

So is my wonderful hubby. He's right here beside me. I don't know if he truly knows how much that means to me. I wouldn't want to have to do this without him.

Today is our 27th anniversary. God has so richly blessed me with a man who daily shows me Jesus in his life. Thank you hubby for loving me all the time,no matter what.

See I have so much to be thankful for.

I'm also thankful for all the medical personnel who are taking care of me. Everyone has been so kind and encouraging.

So what are you thankful for? Write your own post and link up with Rebecca at Knit By God's Hand.

Battle Plan

We now have a Battle Plan. Several of you have asked and I don't mind sharing.

Here's the simplified version. We'll be starting with approximately 20 weeks of chemo and then surgery will be after that. Then a decision will be made about more chemo or radiation or whatever from that point. My oncologist says we are going for the cure, so the treatment will be very aggressive. He said he never wants me to have to go through this again. I agree with him 100%.

I still have a couple of tests on Monday, then I get the port put in on Tuesday, and chemo starts Thursday. And so we begin.

Again, I thank you for all your prayers to this point. I would also ask, as God brings it to your mind, we would love your continued prayers over the next months.  Also, please pray for my friend Kathy at Empty Nest but Full Heart who is fight her own battle.  I know we would both appreciate it very much.

Thank you!

Please click the button above to join in with Thankful Thursday.  It is a very good thing to be intentionally thankful.

This week I am thankful for:

** Good Doctors - I feel I have been blessed with the very best of doctors who are helping me through this cancer thing.  My surgeon is Harvard trained and my oncologist has spent the last 6 years working and teaching at the Mayo Clinic.  They are both the kindest and nicest people.  Very patient and very good at explaining everything.

** Wonderful Husband - I am so thankful for this man.  He has been with me every step so far and Lord willing, he will be with me throughout the whole thing.  I don't how I'd walk this path without him.

**  I am so thankful to have Jesus with me too and for each one of you who have been praying and sending kind words of encouragement.  You may never know how much each one of you means to me.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Create an acrostic using the word LOVE. If you're unsure what an acrostic is click here.
You are L ord, Jesus
            O ver
e V erything in my life
E ven (especially) the scary things.

2. Does love really conquer all? Why or why not?
If it's the right kind of love, yes.

3. Tell us about a time recently, where you really put your heart into something.
I can't think of anything specific right now.

4. What's your favorite fictional love story?
I've read some really good fiction love stories, but most would not be familiar with them.  So, I'll say Cinderella.  Because she got her prince even with all the odds against her and she stayed sweet through it all.

5. Do you generally wear your heart on your sleeve, or keep your cards close to the vest?
I think I'm somewhere in the middle.  It just depends on the situation.

6. What food says love to you? Why?
I'm not sure that I think any food does.  Maybe a good old fashioned cooked meal like chicken and dumplings because my mama made such good ones and I know she loved me.

7. When were you last 'tickled pink' over something? Explain.
Yesterday, when we got the word that my cancer has not spread to anywhere else in my body!!

8. Insert your own random thought here.
A friend posted this on FB yesterday and I agree 100%

Update

I think my husband said it best on FB, so I thought I'd share it here.

"UPDATE: We got the results back from the scans Cathy Sempsrott Stephens had done yesterday. Both scans came back clear - NO signs of metastasis!

The doctor says at this point, we are "going for the cure."

We want to express our deepest appreciation to the hundreds of prayers that have gone up on Cathy's behalf across many states. Your well wishes and encouraging words have sustained us through some rough days and nights over the last couple weeks. It is humbling to know how much folks care. We love all of you. Thank you for your prayers and your encouragement.

There are a couple more tests that are still going to be run. They are not really looking or expecting to find anything. Just wanting complete information before the "battle plan" is formulated. We know that the journey ahead will be difficult, but we know that "He who began a good work is faithful to complete it!"

Thank you again, and keep praying!"

Thankful Thursday

http://www.knitbygodshand.com/2016/02/thankful-thursday-link-up-57.html

This week I am so thankful for friends who are praying for me. Those prayers are helping us stand and trust. I'm thankful for the comments and encouragement we have received on FB and here from you all. We do not know what is going to happen yet, but I know who does and who has everything, including me, in His hands. A friend and former co-worker sent this to me on FB and I want to share it here. It is so good to know, I am not alone and neither are you!

He also shared these scriptures. Philippians 4:4-7
"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Dear Blog Friends - UPDATE

I had some medical tests last week and some things did not look right. I will be having some needle biopsies done in the morning. I don't know what is going to be found and quite frankly, I'm a little nervous about it. But I believe God is in control and that nothing will happen to me that hasn't passed through His hands first. I trust that He has my best interest in mind and will go with me each step of the way.

That being said, I would appreciate any prayers you would be willing to lift up. I believe in prayer and I know God answers. James 5:16 says "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Thank you so much.

UPDATE:
I just got word today that my tests are positive for cancer.  At this point I have no idea what is coming or what I'll be going through.  I just wanted to thank you for you prayers and ask you to continue praying.

Thank you again.
