If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Mammograms

Well, today is the day for my annual mammogram. I have to be honest, I was not good about having my mammograms before. But after this past year, I can guarantee I'll never do that again. So here I am in the waiting room waiting to see the doctor. The test is done and I should be getting the results soon. I'll be back after that.

I'm back. All is good!  Praise you Lord. She is happy with my healing progress and I'm praising God and giving Him all the glory.

I made my appointment for next year's mammogram. Not going to miss them anymore.

Now, what about you?  If it's been a year or more, don't wait. Make your appointment right now!  I know they can be uncomfortable. But trust me. It is much less so than all the treatments and surgery I've been through in the last year. Please learn from my mistake and don't do what I did. I really care about all of you who might read this. So take care of yourself and get your mammogram!!

Thankful Thursday

http://www.knitbygodshand.com/2017/02/launching-car-stuff-little-faces-to.html

Things I am thankful for this week.

1.  A three day weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed this past weekend and being off for 3 days. I'm thankful for the extra time to read and relax and be with my husband.

2.  Lunch on Sunday with family and friends.  There were 12 of us that met and had lunch together. So much fun and good food too.

3.  Lucy being groomed. I'm so glad Lucy is being groomed this morning. She needs it bad. I can barely see her eyes.

4.  Audio books. I just listened to a good book by Lori Wick from my library while at work the last couple of days. Makes the day go so much faster.

5.  Springlike weather. I've enjoyed being able to get out and walk a lot in the last week or so.  The puppy and I have both enjoyed it. Plus it wears her out some and helps her to be less hyperactive. Well, at least sometimes it does.

While these may not seem like big things, I'm still grateful for each one. They have certainly made for a very pleasant week.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

http://www.fromthissideofthepond.com/2017/02/gone-fishin-in-hodgepodge.html

1. Have you ever been fishing? Yes, as a child.  Did you catch a fish? Sometimes If so did you keep it or throw it back? What I caught was usually blue gill and yes we threw them back.  If you haven't been fishing is that something you'd like to try?

Fish out of water, big fish in a small pond, living in a fishbowl, packed in like sardines, this is a fine kettle of fish, plenty of fish in the sea, fish or cut bait...which fishy phrase most recently applies to some area of your life?
This is a fine kettle of fish...we're trying to go through all the stuff in our house and thin it all out.  Not a fun thing.  But I like the results every time we unload some more. I just feel like our house keeps sighing in relief every time another heavy bag leaves.  haha

2. What's something you're always fishing for in your purse, wallet, desk, or kitchen junk drawer?
My keys.

3. Your favorite fish tale or movie?
The Incredible Mr. Limpet with Don Knotts and I'm not even a big Don Knotts' fan and I haven't seen it in years.  But I always did enjoy it.
Picture from Internet
Another would be Finding Nemo because I love Dory.
Picture from Internet

4. Are you sunrise, daylight, twilight or night? Explain why you chose your answer.
I'd say sunrise because I think it is so beautiful.
Sunrise at Myrtle Beach
But then so is Daytime at Myrtle Beach

And so is Sunset at Myrtle Beach

And so is Night time at Myrtle Beach
So I guess anytime of day is good when you're at the beach. ;)

5. What's the oldest piece of clothing you own and still wear?
Something I wear regularly is a Myrtle Beach Sweatshirt that is probably at least 3 years old and then I have a Disney hoodie that is probably 7-8 years old that I still sometimes wear.

6. We've got one more month of (officially) winter here in the Northern hemisphere. Are you feeling the need for a getaway? What's been the best and worst part of your winter so far?
Yes and we have plans to go to Pigeon Forge in a couple weeks. The best part has been finishing my radiation treatments and getting back to work and most regular activities.

7.  The Wednesday Hodgepodge lands on National Margarita Day...will you be celebrating? No Frozen or on the rocks? Neither. I've never tasted a margarita.    Are you a Jimmy Buffet fan? I do enjoy some of his music because it reminds me of the beach.  If so, what's your favorite JB tune? Probably Margaritaville just because its the one I'm most familiar with.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.
I just want to say thanks to Joyce for doing the Hodgepodge every week.  If you want to play along, answer the questions on your blog and then link up at Joyce's blog.  You can click the button at the top of my post to go to her blog.

Thankful Thursday

http://www.knitbygodshand.com/2017/02/falling-apart-airing-out-best.html

A year ago today I had my port put in for chemo. While I was in surgery my father passed away.  So this day one year ago was not such a great day.  But that being said, I guess it wasn't the worst of days either. Without the port, chemo treatments would have been even worse. At least with the port I didn't have to be stuck with a needle every time.

As for my dad's passing, that was the day my dad got to see Jesus face to face. Just think about it. That must have been so awesome. Plus he got to see my mom again and my brother.  He also got to see his parents and his brothers and sisters that passed before him. What a day that must have been. I miss my parents but I wouldn't wish them back for anything. I'm so glad they are no longer suffering and they're in the place I'm striving to get to some day.

I am so thankful to have had the parents that God gave me. I am so blessed. They taught me about Jesus and His saving grace. They showed me how to love and care for others. They truly showed me what it means to be a Christian and to help and be an encouragement to others. I love you mom and dad and miss you both.

I am also thankful for the cancer treatments I've received this last year.  And for all the doctors and nurses and technicians and aids who took care of me. I'm thankful that my treatments are finished and that I'm recovering well.

I'm thankful for my husband who has been with me each and every day of this journey. I'm not sure I would have been strong enough to endure this without him. Thank you God for my husband.

I'm thankful too for each one of you who prayed for me or said an encouraging word. Or maybe you sent me a card or a text or email. Each contact meant so much to me and kept me encouraged. I am so  grateful to each one of you.

Also, I'm thankful for what I've learned about God during all this. How He's shown me how much He loves me and how faithful He is. There have been some really scary times, but God was always there to comfort and love me. I don't know about my future (none of us do). I don't know for sure that the cancer won't come back, but I do know that God is with me no matter what happens. I'm learning to trust Him more and more.  I know I'm in God's hands and that is the best place to be.  And that is where I intend to stay. I hope you know my Jesus too.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for the Hodgepodge.  Click the button to the left if yo want to play along.

1. What do/did you call your grandparents? If it's something unusual tell us the story behind the name. If you're a grandparent what do your grands call you? Who chose your moniker?
I called my grandparents, grandma and grandpa. I have one grandson and he's too little to call me anything but my daughter wants him to call me Gigi and hubby is papaw. I let my daughter choose the name. I'm happy with anything just as long as I get to be with him. 😍 Our honorary granddaughter calls us nana and papa. Again this was the mommy's choice.

2. Ever taken a road trip along the California Coast? If so what was the highlight of your trek? If not, any desire to do so? If you were to take a trip along the California Coast what's one attraction you'd have on your must-see list?
I've never been but would love to take a trip there. I'd like to see as much as I could.

3. What are three things you don't know how to do?
Play guitar, fly a plane, perform surgery.

4. Tom Peters is quoted as saying, 'Celebrate what you want to see more of.' If that's true what will you celebrate and more importantly, how will you celebrate?
I want to see more time with the one I love and I will celebrate that by spending as much time with him as possible. I love my husband and there is no one on this earth I want to be with more than him. Our quiet evenings at home  are some if my favorite times.

5. Thursday (February 16) is National Almond Day. Do you like almonds? Which would you prefer-an Almond Joy or a macaron? What's something you make that calls for almonds?
Yes, I like almonds. I prefer an Almond Joy. Can't think of anything. I just eat them plain.

6. What does Saturday morning look like at your house?
It changes all the time. I prefer to sleep in or at least just relax by reading or whatever. Then go to an early lunch.

7. Share with us a favorite book you've read this winter.
Haven't done much reading this winter yet. Planning to read The Shack again though.  Plus I have plans to go see the movie when it comes out in a couple of weeks.

This week I am so thankful for my friend.  She made me a quilt and it is absolutely gorgeous.  It has the pink breast cancer ribbon on it.  She said she made it for me because I have beat cancer's butt.  She also made one for my puppy because she stayed by my side through it all.  I love it!  Here are a couple pictures of it.  And let me tell you, the pictures do not do it justice.

Isn't it gorgeous?

Here's a close-up of  the material

And here is Lucy sitting on her quilt.
Thank you so much Brenda.  You are such a wonderful friend and I am thankful for you.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What's the last thing you did that someone else thought was super?
Nothing comes readily to mind.

2. The last thing you ate that tasted superb?
Soup beans and cornbread on Monday night.  They were made by a lady at church.

3. Supersensitive, superstitious, superwoman, superambitious, supercilious, supervisor, superficial...pick a super word from the list and tell us how it relates to your life in some way recently or currently.
I asked my husband this and he said to tell you he things I'm super all the way around.  And as long as he and God thinks I'm super that's all that matters.

4. Do you love easily? If you're comfortable doing so, explain why you think that is.
Sometimes yes, sometimes not so much.

5. Valentine's Day lands on a Tuesday this year. Will you mark the day in some way?
I'll probably get a card for hubby.   We may go out to dinner too.  We really haven't talked about it yet. If you're celebrating with a dinner out somewhere will it be on Tuesday or will you celebrate over the weekend? We'll probably do more of a celebration over the weekend as our anniversary is Saturday, the 18th.  It'll be a combo thing.

6. What's something you are loving right now?
Hubby and I are watching the old TV series "Crossing Jordan" and we are both enjoying it.  I don't know why, but we never watched it when it was actually on.

7 Write a three word (or less) phrase you'd like to see on a Valentine candy heart.
"Colton loves Gigi"...That little boy just has me wrapped around his little finger.

The Simple Woman's Daybook February Edition

For Today: Tuesday, February 7, 2017

Click this button to go to the Simple Woman's Daybook blog, if you'd like to join in.

Looking out my window:  it's a rather grey day outside, but it's 57 degrees out,  I love it!

I am thinking:  I am enjoying my lunch of grilled chicken and cauliflower with cheese

I am thankful:  for christian co-workers to talk with.  So nice to share with fellow christians.  I love the other co-workers too.

One of my favorite things:  the sky.  I love looking at the sky, whether day or night and trying to take pictures of it too.  To me it's like God's easel and I love the paintings He makes.  Below are some sky photos I have taken in the past.

I am creating:  I'm crocheting a black scarf for my hubby.  Although, to be honest, it's been a couple of weeks since I've worked on it.  Must get back to it tonight.

I am wearing:  dark blue pants and a lighter blue sweater with hood.

I am reading:  Actually, I'm waiting on my library to get the next book to read. I'm waiting on "The Magnolia Story" by Chip and Joanna Gaines (I keep hearing good things about this) and also "The Calling" by Rachelle Dekker.  This is the 3rd in a series and I enjoyed the other two.

I am hoping:  we get to go to Pigeon Forge next month (reservations are made).

I am learning:  more about the love Jesus has for me. Can't figure out why, but I'm glad He does.

In my kitchen:  had a delicious dinner last night.  A sweet lady in our church made us some soup beans and cornbread and brought it to us Sunday.  We ate it last night and it was absolutely delicious.  Thank you Veronica!

Shared Quote:

I am learning to live this.  I've tried to do the Holy Spirit's job before and believe me it doesn't work.
A moment from my day:

a recent picture of me and my puppy.

Closing Notes:  This has been fun and I hope to participate more.  Thank you Peggy.  Again, click the button at the top to go to her website and learn how to play along.

My Weekend

Hubby and I had a really nice weekend.  Saturday we picked up Colton at 7:00am (and by the way, that is just too early to be up on a Saturday morning...haha).  His mommy was worked and she needed a babysitter.  After we picked him up we decided to go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast.  He slept through the whole meal.

Just look at that face!
We took him to our house for awhile and then later we went and visited with my sister so she could spend some time with him.  He loved all the attention he was getting.

His mommy took him to the zoo that evening and she said he was mesmerized by all the lights and dancers and things going on.,  Isn't that just the cutest tiger face you've ever  seen.

That evening hubby and I stayed home and watched another Harry Potter movie.  We've only got 2 more to go and then we'll have to find another movie marathon for our Saturday nights.

Sunday we had 2 great services at church and we went to lunch with Tracy's family.  We went to Moe's.  Hubby and I had never been there before, but it was pretty good.  I'm sure we'll be back again.

So that was my weekend.  What did you do?
