Five Minute Friday and Friday Foto Friends

Five Minute Friday is where we are given a prompt and you write for five minutes on your blog and then go here to link up.  Why not join us this week?

FMF Prompt:  Collect

Go:

Thinking about the word collect and what comes to mind first is collecting memories.  I'm trying to collect memories.  In the last 2 1/2 years I've lost my oldest brother, my mom and my dad, along with several aunts and uncles.  Then with me having cancer last year and my younger sister having a stroke that has left her in an assisted living facility, it makes me want to collect lots of memories with the family and friends still here on earth.  The memories of my brother and parents help make it bearable that they are gone (just barely), plus knowing I will see them again helps alot.  We're being intentional to spend more time with my husband's parents and with other family, because no one knows just how much time we have left.

So while collecting things was something I did a lot in the past, now I am much more interested in collecting memories and new friends and new experiences.  I want to live life to the fullest each day.

Stop!

What do you think of when you see the word collect?

Come join in with Friday Foto Friends.  Just post some pictures from your week and tell us about them.  You can go here to link up and then see what some other bloggers week looked like.

Here are 3 of my favorites from this week that have not already shown up on my blog (at least I don't think they have.)  Of course, you know there always has to be a picture or two of my grandson.

That little Colton can flat move!

Here he is looking at me like "Come on Gigi, I want some more pudding."

We saw this plane swooping all over the place.  Turned out he's a crop-duster.  There was a helicopter doing it too, but unfortunately I didn't get a photo of that.

  1. First thing I thought of was "Dust". But the cleaning lady doesn't leave any in the house when she leaves. I always love to spend time with my family, and grandkids are a must.

  2. Cathy, I'm sorry for all the loss you've experienced in such a short amount of time. I'm the memory collector in our family although my brother seems to have a better memory of our childhood. I understand your passion for making this your primary collection. Thanks for sharing.

  3. So very sorry for all the loss and grief you've experienced. I can't imagine the loss of so many close family members in such a short amount of time. You are stronger than you think, sweet Lady. God gave you Colton at just the right time...."for such a time as this". Not that he can fill the void, but oh, what joy grandbabies bring! HOPE you have a great weekend....stay cool in this heat and humidity. Seems it's all over the country.

  5. I love a good plane pic on a clear blue sky - so beautiful. Amazing to me how the science of that keeps these massive steel monsters in the air.

  6. I love what you had to say about "collect." Mother used to always tell me, make memories so you'll have them in your old age. Simple treasures and precious memories, 2 of my favorite things!

  11. I like your thoughts about "collecting memories". Yes, I agree...we need to spend more time collecting memories rather than things. After losing our son to cancer 3 years ago, and my parents several years before that, I've come to realize that we need to spend more time with people, sharing laughter and fun and dreams and hopes and making memories. Life is short. We really don't know how long we will be here or have our loved ones near. So enjoy every moment we can. Love your pictures, btw.

  13. Like you I create memories as tomorrow isn't promised and after losing my mom and daughter I want to keep there memories alive for my son. As well as make memories for him as tomorrow isn't promised and being over 50 I might go at any time. God willing I won't but you just never know. Have a Blessed Saturday and your grandson is adorable.

    1. He is a real charmer. Actually he had just gotten a haircut about 2 weeks before these pictures. He was born with a head full. 😊
