Geese and babies on the shoreline

Love all the beautiful flowering trees I've seen this week

This is in our neighborhood and is extremely pretty,  I've been watching the buds getting bigger for weeks now and finally they have opened.
Thanks for visiting my blog and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Thankful Thursday

It's Thursday, which means it's time to be thankful.  Click here to join in with Rebecca Jo and let's be thankful together.

I'm so thankful for the beautiful weather expected today.  The sun is shining and it's going to get warmer as the day goes.  Loving this so much.

I'm so thankful that hubby and I have a trip planned for next week.  This morning he told me he wished we could stay a night longer than we planned.  So I called them and the room was available.  Thank you Lord that now we have an extra day to enjoy your beautiful creation next week.  And I know I don't have to be traveling to enjoy His creation.  I try to do it most every day.  But with vacation, there is no rushing and pressure.  Thank you Lord so much for this blessing.

I'm so thankful for my family heritage too.  I was blessed to come from two wonderful christian families.  Below is a picture of both sets of my grandparents.  This was actually two pictures and my sister put them together to make one.  I had forgotten all about this until I ran across it on FB the other day.

Mom's parents                                                                                      Dad's parents
I may be writing more about this stuff in the future, as hubby and I just had our DNA done and I'm contemplating working on our family tree again.

Anyway, these are some of the things I am thankful for today.  How about you?  What are you thankful for?

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. They say you learn something new every day. What did you learn yesterday?
I learned that there is a typo on the Lincoln Memorial. Trying to engrave the word future, they put euture. Check here:  https://www.rd.com/culture/typo-lincoln-memorial/

2. Have you ever had a now or never moment? Elaborate.
I'm sure I have, but I can't think of anything at the moment.  Maybe when I decided to switch from a PC to a MAC a couple of weeks ago.  I've been considering it for awhile and hubby did some research and found a good deal on Amazon and I debated for a bit and then said let's do it.  So far, I'm pretty happy with it.

3.  April 25th is National Telephone Day. Do you still have a land line or have you gone mobile only?  No, we do not have a land line, we are only mobile.  When you receive a text message do you respond immediately? Usually I respond immediately to a text, unless I need to think on the answer for a bit.  Last time you turned your phone off? I seldom turn my phone off, only just to reset it if needed.  However, I do turn the ringer off when in church, doctor's offices, etc. In two or three sentences share with us a story/memory/incident from your childhood (or something current if that's too hard) where the telephone is featured.
Do you remember party lines?  We used to have one and I remember mom and dad talking about at night when they wanted to make a call, they'd lay the phone between them in the bed and listen to whoever was talking and have a good laugh.  I don't have anything myself, because growing up, we kids seldom used the phone for anything.

4. Close call, at someone's beck and call, call the shots, call a meeting, call it quits, call in sick, call on the carpet, wake up call...which call have you 'heard' recently? Explain.
I've not really had any of them recently.  However, maybe close call would fit.  It seems so many times when out on the road there are close calls.  For example, the other night someone passed us on a country road and there was someone coming towards us in the other lane.  It didn't seem to bother them at all, but they were really way to close to pass.  I also hate it when someone cuts over in front of you on the interstate way before they should.  That seems to happen way more than I wish it would.

5. What subject do you wish you'd paid more attention to in school?
World Geography and World History...I have so much trouble knowing where a lot of countries are located and which stories go with which country.

6. Insert your own random thought here.
This little one seems to be settling in to Texas life.

He got a boo-boo

Barefoot and happy!

Loving eating outside

He's so adorable in his hats!

My Weekend

It's been a good weekend.  On Saturday I slept in until almost 9:00am.  I can't even tell you the last time that happened, but it was so very nice.  Hubby and I then got cleaned up and headed out.  We went to Cowan Lake and just enjoyed the water and geese and ducks and just some quiet time together.  It is one of our favorite things to do, to go anywhere where there is water.

Then we ran some errands and came home and enjoyed a quiet evening catching up on some of our shows.

Sunday we had 2 really good church services and met his mom and dad for lunch.  Then I got a really good Sunday afternoon nap.  I love those the most and think maybe God even intended for us to nap on a Sunday.  It is the day of rest, after all.  lol

But before my nap, I took the dog out for a mile walk and Kerri called and I got to video-chat with her and Colton for a bit.  Of course, Colton didn't talk much because he was playing outside with bubbles at the time, but I got to see his smiling face and hear his little drawn out Hiiieeee!  I think he's going to make a really great Texan, as he already has the accent down pretty well.

That's about all I have to share, so how was your weekend?

Thankful Thursday

Today I am so thankful for this little fellow.

He looks so happy!

He and his mommy just moved to Texas, they arrived last night.  I'm going to miss seeing him in person, but I am so thankful for him and for video chatting.  One of these days hubby and I will take a trip to see them.  I've always wanted to go to Texas for a visit.  Now I definitely have a very good reason.

So what are you thankful for.  You can click the button at the top to join in with Rebecca Jo.

Have a great day and thanks for visiting.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Three things on your spring bucket list? If you don't have an actual list that's fine, pretend you do.

I do not have a bucket list, but for your question here goes:
Finish the Bible Study we are currently doing (next Tuesday)
Take a trip to the Smoky's with hubby (in May)
Increase the speed, distance and frequency of my walking as I am signed up for a 5K later this year and I hope to sign up for a few more

2. Where do you find rest? What restores your soul? When was the last time you did whatever it was you answered here?
I find rest at the ocean.  Jesus restores my soul, especially at the ocean.  The last time I was at the ocean was for almost 4 weeks in November.

Sitting right here on the balcony, in daylight & dark and thanking God for His creation
3. April is National Celery Month. Who knew? Do you like celery? What's your favorite dish made with celery? On a veggie and dip platter which would you reach for first-carrot sticks, celery sticks, cucumbers or cherry tomatoes?
I can eat celery if it's got dip or peanut butter on it, but no it's not something I particularly like.  I can eat it in dressing or maybe soup, but I'd really prefer it not be there.  I'd reach for tomatoes or carrots.

4. I read here eight things to do before 8 am to make your day less hectic-Start one load of laundry, drink water, empty the dishwasher, read your Bible, know what you're having for dinner, get dressed, brain dump (two lists-one what you're thankful for and one what's weighing on your mind), and after the brain dump make your to-list for the day

How many of these are you currently doing? Which one do you think would help the most if you added it to your early morning routine?
I currently read my Bible and/or do my Bible Study and get dressed (except on Saturdays).  I think adding the brain dump (Thankful list) would help a lot.

5. Describe the view from your window.
Right now I am at work eating lunch and I can see a corner of the firehouse and a corner of a big new bank building across the street.

6. Insert your own random thought here.
If you think about it my father-in-law could use some prayer.  He is having some physical issues.  Thank you.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.''

Thankful Thursday

I know I'm really late, but I still want to be thankful today.  So here goes:

**As I've said before, but it warrants being said again, I am so thankful for Rebecca Jo and her continuing doing Thankful Thursday each week.  She is so faithful and I for one really appreciate it.  If you've never met her, click the button above and go and visit her.  I promise you won't regret it.  She's definitely worth getting to know.

**Got a new computer.  It's a Mac and I'm learning to use it.  It's stretching my mind and so I think it will be good for me.

**I'm so thankful that I got to FaceTime with Kelli last night and video-chatted with Kerri tonight.  Love my girls.

**I'm really thankful for the beautiful day today.  So warm and blue skies and sunshine.  I know it's going to rain this weekend but I have enjoyed today.

Since it's so late, I'm going to keep this short and sweet, but I wanted to at least thank God for a few of the many things He's done for me.

So what are you thankful for?

Thanks for visiting.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. April is National Jazz Appreciation Month. Are you a fan? If so what's a favorite you'd recommend to someone new to jazz listening?
I certainly don't hate it, but I wouldn't consider myself a big fan.  I do like a small dose of it from time to time though.

2. Mandolin, ukulele, harp, accordion or banjo...which would you be most interested in learning to play? Or do you already play one of the instruments listed?
I've wanted to play the ukulele for the last several years.  One of these days (maybe when I retire), I'll actually try to learn.

3. Do you judge a book by it's cover? Elaborate. You may answer in either/both the literal or figurative sense of the word.
Literally, yes I do sometimes.  If the cover does not appeal to me, I probably won't read it.  I try very hard not to judge people by their cover.  Unfortunately, I don't always succeed, if I'm honest about it.

4. According to a recent study the ten most nutritious foods are-almonds, cherimoya (supposed to taste like a cross between a pineapple/banana), ocean perch, flatfish (such as flounder and halibut), chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, swiss chard, pork fat (shocking! but I don't think they mean bacon), beet greens, and red snapper. Are any of these foods a regular part of your diet? Any you've never ever tasted? Which would you be most inclined to add to your diet?
I wouldn't say any of them are a regular part of my diet, however, I do eat almonds quite often.  I've never had cherimoya, ocean perch, beet greens or red snapper.  I would be most inclined to add ocean perch I think.

5. Besides a major holiday what is the most recent thing you've celebrated with your people? Tell us how.
Can't think of any celebrations recently except holidays recently.

6. Insert your own random thought here.
Hubby ordered me a Mac Desktop Computer.  I should get it today (Wednesday).  Looking forward to learning how to use it.  I have an iPhone and an iPad, but have never used a Mac Computer.  This should be fun!  lol  But, honestly, I think it will be good for me to learn something new and stretch my brain some.
