If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Currently I am...eating lunch at work

ReadingMiss Mabel's School for Girls (I have just barely started it)

Listening toCold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns

Loving: The new security camera hubby bought and installed last night.  I keep checking online and watching the dog.  I talked to her this morning and I think she must hear every time I log in because she's up looking around all the time.

Thinking: I think I am jealous of my sister as today is her last full-time day.  She's retiring and then she's going to just work part-time until the end of the year.

FeelingI'm really very happy for my sister.  She so deserves to retire.

Celebrating: Not really celebrating anything, but I will be this weekend.  Both my birthday and my nephew's wedding.

Grateful for This little fella'

Weather: It's a gray, rainy day.

Enjoying: My Diet Coke.

A quote I want to shareAnd boy-howdy, is this ever true!!

I hope you are currently having  great day and thanks for visiting.

Friday Foto Friends and SkyWatch Friday

This week I am joining in with Friday Foto Friends and SkyWatch Friday.  Here are a few photographs I took this week in my neck of the woods.  Click here to check out Friday Foto Friends and here to check out SkyWatch Friday.

Horses I see most mornings on my way to work.  Finally grabbed a picture

Bunny and Birds out on our morning walk

That little bright light is the moon out before it was dark

This is a library box in the neighborhood near our post office.  People leave books and anyone can take them and read them and then bring them back for someone else.  Such a neat idea.  There are at least 2 of these in our town.

Love this sky...the wires, not so much
I hope you all have had a really great week.  Thanks for visiting.

My Weekend

Hubby and I had a fairly quiet weekend as usual. Friday after work we came home and ordered dinner in. We had a salad and pizza.  Yummy!  Then we relaxed with some TV, etc.

I decided to participate in a Readathon that started at Midnight Friday night and ran through to midnight on Sunday night. It’s called 24in48. And the goal is to read for a total of 24 hours in the 48 hour period. Now I knew I would not read the whole 24 hours, but I did want to try to read more than I normally ever would in that time period. Well, I ended up reading just a little over 12 hours. I really didn’t think I’d make it that long. I read one whole book and then part of 2 other books. Plus when walking the dog I listened to a big chunk of another book. I enjoyed participating and the next one they have will be in January. You can check them out here, if you are interested.

My official time.

This is from one of my many walks with the dog this weekend

In between all the reading we did laundry and a few things around the house and went out for breakfast and dinner on Saturday, so no cooking for me. Yay!

Sunday we had great church services and met the family for lunch and then took a Sunday nap (one of my favorite things). Then back to church and afterwards to Kroger’s to pick up our grocery order. Can I just say I love the Kroger Clicklist. Makes my life so much easier. Now I’m ready for this next week of work with stuff for lunches and food to cook for dinner.

Reading while waiting on our groceries

So, while my weekend was quiet, it was just the way I like it. I hope you had a good weekend too.

Thanks for visiting.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for my home and all the wonderful times we have shared there.  My daddy was the contractor when we had it built 22 years ago.  He actually did a lot of the interior work himself.  I didn't think I'd ever get a house that dad built, but God provided and I'm so thankful for that.  We moved in about 2 weeks before the girls came to live with us and it's the only home they ever lived in until they went out on their own.  So we definitely have memories galore and sometimes I think of selling because the yard work is more than hubby and I want to (or probably even can) handle any more.  Thankfully, we have a guy who is doing it for us (for the 2nd year) and he trims the bushes and everything.  We are truly blessed to have him.  So with all the years of raising kids and loving them and each other, hubby and I are very thankful for our home.  Thank you God for always being there with us.

This is the view as we were coming back from our early morning walk.

What are you thankful for?  Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. I feel most energized when I _______________________.
finish my morning walk and then rest for a few minutes and read my Bible.  I just feel so accomplished when I get my walk in first thing in the morning.

2. Where were you ten years ago?

The same place I am right now.  I work at the same place, I live in the same house and I go to the same church and I am very happy with that.  Here is a picture of the girls and I from July 2008 trying on our new T-shirts for an upcoming trip to Disney World.

3. July 17th is World Emoji Day. Do you use emojis? Which one's your favorite? Your most used?
😊😂😜❤️🎈👍

4. What song would you put on a wedding DO NOT PLAY list?
Your Cheatin' Heart by Hank Williams probably should not be on a wedding play list.  lol

5. What deserves less of your attention? More of your attention?
The TV deserves probably deserves less of my attention and my husband probably deserves more (although I think I do a pretty good job of paying attention to him).

6.  Insert your own random thought here.
This is not such a great picture, but I sure do love our video chat times.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you are having a great day.

Books I'm Reading

What I am currently reading, listening to or have just recently finished:

Christy by Catherine Marshall

picture from Amazon
I love this book.  I read it many years ago as a teenager and possibly another time too.  Somebody mentioned it on a blog post the other day and I decided I wanted to read it again.  I checked my library and found they had the audio version available.  So that is what I'm listening to at work right now.

In This Mountain (Mitford Years #7) by Jan Karon

picture from Amazon
I started this series earlier this year and am totally loving it.  It's about Father Tim and the town of Mitford near the Blue Ridge Parkway.  I'm getting close to getting this one finished and I have the next waiting from my Library.

Talking as Fast as I can:  From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls by Lauren Graham

picture from Amazon
This is another book I just finished listening to.  It was fun and light-hearted and interesting to learn a little more about the Gilmore Series and movies.

My Story, My Song by Lucimarian Roberts

picture from Amazon
I finished listening to this book earlier in the month.  Totally loved the stories and also the music in it.  Lucimarian Roberts, who is Robin Roberts' mother seems to be quite a woman.

I've linked up with Quick Lit for this post.  So, tell me what you are reading.  I'm always on the lookout for good books, old or new.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for:

**Good friends that I can share hard times with and I know they will pray for me and/or my family and they know that I will do the same for them.  Sisters in Christ are a wonderful thing.

**Another day on this side of the dirt.  I am always happy to wake up to a new day.  Having survived cancer makes me very glad to wake up each day and feel mostly good (being almost 61 isn't easy either and makes my joints ache! lol).  Thank you Jesus.

**I'm thankful for each one of you I've met in the blogging world.  I'm so glad I joined up almost 10 years ago.  In fact, I'll be celebrating my 10th blogaversary in September.  Who knew I'd stick around this long.  My friend started blogging and talked me into trying it out.  Guess who is still the one here 10 years later.  lol

**My hubby, who just brought me breakfast to work.  He is such a good and giving man.  He takes good care of me.

Well, I've finished eating, so I better get to work.  Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Click the button above if you'd like to participate in the Hodgepodge.

1. What's something in your house you'd like to get rid of but can't?
One of  the bedroom suites we have.  I don't care which one, but we just have too many dressers and chests.  One belonged to my in-laws and hubby wants to keep it and other other belongs to my daughter and she doesn't want us to get rid of it.  I have a feeling she's going to lose as she's living in Florida and I don't see her moving it there and I don't see her moving back here anytime soon.  Sorry Kelli.

2. When is the last time you experienced a sense of nostalgia? Elaborate.
Lately, it's been any time I see pictures of my mom and dad.  I remember the good times we had and how I'd love to have another Saturday Family Night again.

3. You're only allowed three apps on your smart phone or tablet...which three do you keep?
YouVersion Bible App, Instagram and The Weather Channel.

4. July 11th is National Blueberry Muffin Day. Who knew? Do you like blueberry muffins? If you were going to have a muffin would blueberry be your choice? What's the last thing you baked?
Yes, I like blueberry muffins.  I'd prefer banana nut.  I think the last thing I baked was a chocolate cake and that would have been months and months ago.  I don't bake too often, because I would eat it all and I don't need it especially since I'm trying to eat very low carb.

5. What's the biggest way you've changed since you were a child? In what way are you still the same?
I guess the biggest way I've changed is I grew up!  lol   The way I am still the same is:  I still love Jesus, playing piano, singing and reading, just like I did when I was little.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Hope you all have a great day.

Thankful Thursday

Things I am thankful for this week:

**Lunch out yesterday with both of my sisters, my brother-in-law and my husband.  It was so good to be together for the 4th.  Most of us had delicious burgers and there was no clean-up as there would have been had we grilled out.  It was too hot in our area to be out that much anyway.  So I am thankful for the nice air-conditioned restaurant and time with my family.

**A quiet evening at home with my hubby and my dog, watching some TV (the July 4th celebration from Washington DC, among other things) and working a jigsaw puzzle.  It's been awhile since I've done one.  I think it should be completed tonight.

I'm sure there is much more to be thankful for, but this is all I'm listing right now.  I just feel so blessed by God in my life.

So what are you thankful for?  If you'd like to participate, write a post on your blog, and then you can go here to link-up with Rebecca Jo.

Thanks for visiting and commenting.  Hope you have a great day.

Currently I am...waiting for supper to finish cooking

Reading100 Days to Brave by Annie F. Downs (daily devotion) and Jan Karon's book, In This Mountain.

Listening toMy husband watching IOS Today on TWIT TV.

LovingReading a real book from the library.  It's been a long time since I've done that (other than using their online services for ebooks).

Thinking: I wish supper would hurry, I'm kinda hungry.

Feeling: blessed to be an American citizen during this Independence Holiday week.

Celebrating: That I'll be getting a day off in the middle of the week this week.

Grateful forWe found a roofer to put a new roof on our house (hopefully next week) and his estimate was a lot less than we expected.  Actually, we had no idea what it would be.  But I'm so glad for what it is.

Weatherhot-hot-hot and scattered rain showers.

EnjoyingA quiet evening at home with my husband and my dog.

A quote I want to share:
