If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Thankful Thursday

Things I'm thankful for:

***Church Christmas Lunch and Auction -- Sunday before last we had our Annual Christmas Lunch at Church.  We had a nice crowd and lots of good food.  Then we always have an auction afterward of white elephant items.  Everything is wrapped, so you have no idea what you're bidding on.  It could be something really good or it could be a can of soup.  Always lots of fun and laughter and the money goes to our Missions Funds to be able to help someone in need.

***Family Get Together -- Last Tuesday, my brother and sisters and our families all met together at my nephew's house for dinner and just being together.  My nephew just got married in September and he and his wife hosted in their new home.  They bought a fixer up and boy have they all fixed it up.  It's such a cute starter home and we all had so much fun being together.  With mom and dad and my oldest brother gone, we sometimes have trouble getting together.  I am so thankful that we took the time because I love my family so much.  Nobody gets me and understands me quite like they do.  lol   We laughed and talked and played games.  It was a really wonderful evening.

***Candlelight and Carols Services - Sunday evening we had a Candlelight and Carols Service at church.  We light candles and the Christmas Trees and other Christmas lights.  Hubby puts a burning, cracking fireplace video on the screens up front and then we sing Christmas Carols together.  They church is so beautiful lit up like that and we are a small group, but we have the best time together.

***Christmas Eve Day video chat with grandson - It was so fun to watch Colton open his gifts from us and see his excitement.  One of these day I hope we get to do it in person, but this works for us now.  He is such a doll and it's so fun watching and talking to him.

***Christmas Day Family Time with Hubby's Family - Christmas afternoon we went to hubby's family and had dinner and opened presents and just enjoyed being with each other.  Unfortunately, his dad did not feel like getting out of bed to participate, but hubby did go back and talk with him.  It's not easy seeing him going down as he is and if you'd want to lift him up in a prayer, we sure would appreciate it.  We're praying that God will bring peace and comfort and have mercy on him and his wife.

***Days off from work -- I've also enjoyed having the first part of this week off work.  I'm back at work today, but it's been a nice break.

So what are you thankful for?

Currently...

I am:

Reading…Merry Humbug Christmas by Sandra D. Bricker. There are two very funny Christmas books in this.  I’ve read the first and getting ready to start the second

Listening to…Christmas music on Pandora

Loving…watching all the Hallmark movies when we are relaxing

Thinking…I wish we could be with the girls in person sometime during the holidays…but alas we will have to do with live video chats

Feeling…blessed

Celebrating…being alive

Grateful…for Jesus coming to earth as a babe and then being willing to die for me.

Weather…gray overcast day and it’s cold, but at least the rain has stopped and it’s supposed to be sunny tomorrow.

Enjoying…all the Christmas lights and decorations everywhere.  Hubby and I have already been out twice looking at lights.  Once it was just the 2 of us and the other time was with his parents.

A Thought to Share…Jesus loves me, this I know!!!!!!

Thanks for visiting.

My Weekend

We had a pretty quiet weekend.  Just the kind I like.

On Friday, hubby left work early and went to his mom and dad's to sit with his dad while his mom went to an eye doctor's appointment.  His dad was having a good day, so they decided to go for a drive and look at some special Christmas Light displays in nearby neighborhoods.  So when I got off work I went home and took care of the dog and they picked me up and off we went.  First we grabbed a sandwich at McDonalds so no one had to get out of the car and then we went to three different magnificent light displays.  They were coordinated with music, which we could listen to on the van radio.  So beautiful and so fun.  I so thankful that his dad felt like going and I think we had all a really good time being together.

After we got home hubby and I watched White Christmas, which is our annual thing and I loom-knitted a little.  Making a new hat for the grandson.

On Saturday, we actually slept in and then headed out to lunch at Red Lobster and then did some shopping, including some Christmas gifts.  While we were in Walmart we bought a 32" fiber optic Christmas tree.  We had decided not to put up a tree, but this was so cute and easy and now it feels like Christmas in the house.

That afternoon I went with older sister to visit our younger sister who is in assisted living.  We had fun just talking and being together (as we are most Saturdays).  Then Bev and I left and went to Kohls because she had some coupons.  She ended up not buying anything, so I got to use her discounts.  I bought 2 tops and a cute Mickey Mouse hoodie for my grandson.  Win win for me!

Saturday evening Tracy and I relaxed at home and watched another premiere Hallmark movie.

Sunday we had church and then grabbed a sandwich to take home.  Then we actually took a little nap.  I so love taking a Sunday afternoon nap.  We went back to church that night and then home to watch A Dollywood Christmas on Hallmark.  Cute movie.

So how was your weekend?

Thanks for visiting.

Thankful Thursday

Things I'm thankful for today:

Beautiful sunshine this morning,

A cup of hot chocolate starting my day out at work,

Talks with my hubby while getting breakfast and riding to work together,

Fellow employees that are fun to work with,

A really good job (and knowing that retiring from this good job is less than two years away),

Listening to some really good southern gospel music videos before going to sleep last night...the music and words just calm my soul and make me happy,

Reading the book of Luke, 1 chapter each day in December and then sharing thoughts and ideas with Rebecca on her daily posts on Luke,

Another day of life.

So, there's my list for today.  What are you thankful for?

Thanks for visiting.

Tuesday 4 Meme - Shopping

1.   What do you think of discounts and sales?
I like sales, but not the crowds to fight to get them.  I prefer online shopping.

2.   What's the biggest bargain you've found?

I did not Black Friday shop.

3.   What do you think of shopping days like Black Friday?

I do not like them. However a couple of years ago I went with a friend and her girls in the middle of the night and had fun, because I was just there to go along and watch them.  If I'm not searching for specifics, it's fun to people watch.

4.   What are the good and bad things about shopping malls and shopping online?

Online is good because you don't have to fight the crowds, but bad because you can't actually see and touch the item.

Thanks for visiting.

Our New Nativity

We bought a new Nativity while on vacation and I'm so in love with it.  I love the glitter and the lights.  This video isn't the greatest, but hope you get the idea of it.  I know Thanksgiving isn't over yet, but I just had to show you.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone and thanks for visiting!!!

Tuesday 4 - About Thanksgiving

Click here to link-up with Toni

1.   What is your favorite Thanksgiving show/animated show?
I really don't have a favorite unless you consider the Macy's Day Parade.  I grew up watching it and still enjoy it when I get time to see it.  Like a child, the big character balloons are still my favorite part.

2.   What is there about Thanksgiving you like the best?
Family

3.   Favorite Thanksgiving/holiday song?
I don't necessarily know of a Thanksgiving song, so I would probably pick the hymn, "Count Your Many Blessings."  Isn't that what Thanksgiving is all about anyway...Counting your blessings and being thankful?

4.   If you have an all holiday music radio station when do you start listening to it?
I started listening at work the day after Halloween to my Christmas Pandora Station.

Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful day.

Tuesday 4 Meme - Ghostly Tell Tales

Ghostly Tell Tales

1.   Believe in ghosts, spirits, or the supernatural?

Ghosts - no.  Spirits as in angels or demons - yes.  Spirits as in we all have a spirit - yes.  Supernatural - as in ghosts and witches - no.

2.   Ever had a supernatural experience?

Again as in ghosts and witches - no.

3.   Favorite horror film?

I don't really like horror films.  Too much tension!  I remember watching the really old horror movies as a kid and I spent most of my time with my face hidden behind a pillow.  I'm basically a really big chicken when it comes to scary or very intense movies.  lol

4.   Finish this line: Silently I walk in the moonless night

every time my puppy needs to go pee in the middle of the night!

Thankful Thursday

Click here to link-up with Rebecca Jo.

I have taken up the challenge put our by my husband two weeks ago in his sermon.  The challenge was to start a Gratitude Journal.  So these things are coming from the journal, although there are more in the journal than I am putting here.

**I love this verse that came up in my Bible reading on Friday morning:  Romans 8:38-39 "And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.  No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord."
I'm so thankful that this is true.

**On Saturday I walked a 5K in our neighborhood.  I'm so thankful to be able to do this and I hope to do it more often.

**We saw a lot of hot air balloons this weekend.  It always makes me so happy to watch them.

**Lesson learned this Sunday:  "If you base your identity on what others think of you, you are worshiping them.  God's opinion is the only one that matters.  It only matters what God thinks about me."

**Lunch Sunday afternoon with hubby's parents and his brother's family.  I'm so thankful that his daddy is still able to go out with us each week.  His health isn't the best, but he keeps on going.

**Hubby and I had some goodies from Starbucks on Sunday also.  It was so good.

**I think I've said it before, but I'm so thankful for being able to get audio books from our Library.  I listed to "The Christmas Secret" by Donna VanLiere while at work.  Makes the day go so much faster.

**Enjoyed a video chat with Kerri and Colton (sometimes) Monday night.  Colton is so funny.  Sometimes he'll talk and others not so much.  But it's always good to get a look at him.

**So thankful Colton does not have to have surgery.  He has a small cyst on the back of his leg, but the surgeon said it will dissipate on it's own and if he was his grandson he would not do the surgery.  He said if they removed it, it would be very likely to come back, but if left alone it should go away.  His mommy just has to keep an eye on it and if it grows any just go back.  I'm believing God's going to take care of it.

So there are some of the things I'm thankful for.  I'm finding that the little things are sometimes the very best things.

Thanks for visiting.

My Weekend

We had a nice weekend.  Fairly quiet, but just the way I like it.  Early Saturday morning I went out for a walk and ended up doing a 5K in our neighborhood.  It's been awhile since I walked that far and it really felt pretty good.  Below are a couple pictures of some fall leaves.  I love being outside this time of the year.

After my walk, hubby and I went out for lunch and made a quick stop at the grocery.  When driving back through town on the way home, we passed our train station and the train was parked there.  This is a big tourist draw for our town.

That afternoon we visited my sister and took her to the store.  Below is a picture of a beautifully decorated fireplace they have there.

On the way back home, we passed several hot air balloons and then again saw them out Sunday morning and early Sunday evening.

So what did you do this weekend?
