Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Howdy Hodgepodgers. It's kind of fun to be back, isn't it?  Last time we met was September, 2018. Tell me something big-important-happy-or sad that's happened in your life since that date. Just one thing. We don't know how long this current isolation situation is going to last and we might need to dole out our news bit by bit.
Since September 2018, I guess the one big thing is my grandson is now living in Texas!  Thankfully they've been home several times and we've been there once.  So thankful for Video Chat ability.

2. Might as well get this out of the way early on...COVID-19. On a scale of 1-5 how serious are you about keeping your distance? Explain. fyi-I didn't create the scale but have seen it several places online. Also fyi-we won't only have virus related questions each week, but for this first one it feels right.
1-Not at all, living normally
2-Cautious but still going out
3-Going out as needed, mostly home or working from home, still seeing friends/family
4-Extremely limited, only going out when unavoidable, minimal contact with people
5-Full lockdown, no one in or out
I'd say I'm in the #2 but only because we're both still working and we go out to a drive-thru or to a grocery when needed.  Taking lots of precautions at work to not get to close to people and sanitizing everything every day.

3. Raise your hand if you think you might run out of steam in the cooking department before it's all said and done? What's something delcious you've cooked or eaten in your own kitchen in the past week?
We made sweet and sour meat balls over rice and it was delicious.

4. What's a television show or movie you've seen recently (it could be an oldie) that you really liked?
We're binging several different shows right now NCIS being my favorite.  We decided to go back to the very beginning and watch the whole series again.  Favorite movies at the theater this year that I've seen are Little Women, Mr. Roger's Neighborhood (I know that's not the correct name) and Call of the Wild.  All are excellent!

5. Share something funny you've seen or heard this week.
I posted yesterday one of the funniest videos I've seen this week.  Go here.

6. Insert your own random thought here.
Joyce, thank you so much for reviving the Wednesday Hodgepodge.  It is always so fun and I've missed it.

Thank you for visiting everyone.  Have a great day and stay safe!

  2. Oh, now I know what to watch. NCIS. I didn't start watching it early on and then decided not to watch because it was so far along. I kind of forgot the Netflix option. I'm so glad you get to video chat with Colton. It would just about kill me if my kiddos moved far away, I think. Have a good day, Cathy, and stay healthy!

  3. I saw those very same movies (except the Mr. Rogers). Completely forgot that I had. Happy for you about your grandson and hope you will be able to see him in person soon. I am missing ours.

    1. It’ll probably be a while, but as long as we keep up the chats we’re doing okay.

  5. Oh, so sorry that your grandson is living far away. But, yes, thankful for the technology that keeps us close to our faraway loved ones.

We recently watched the Mr. Rogers movie. So touching. Mr. Rogers was such an amazing man. If he was still alive, I have no doubt he would be bringing calmness to children in the midst of this global anxiety.

    Blessings,
    Patti

  8. Hello Cathy. It really is hard to have grandkids move far away. So good that technology lets us see them face to face. NCIS is one of our favorites. They even filmed a couple of their episodes at our nieces rental home property so our grandnephew got a picture with Mark Harmon. You are in an essential industry so I understand you having to still go into work. Glad you are taking precautions. Stay safe!

  9. Your recent movies are the same we've seen. I got a little confused at times in Little Women as to when they were in the present and when they were remembering the past, but once I got that figured out, it was all good.

    1. I agree it was confusing from time to time, but I’m pretty familiar with the story so it didn’t bother me too much.

  11. It's fun to be back to Hodgepodge! I enjoyed your answers. I liked Little Women and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood too! Haven't seen Call of the Wild yet but I hear that they will be putting the movies OnDemand since the theaters are closed. Your dinner sounds yummy. Yes your prayer was so cute!!!

  13. Hello again, Kathy! It's good to touch base with you again! I've been wanting to watch the movie about Mr. Rogers, but haven't taken time to watch, yet. Now might be a good time, huh?
    Stay well! (Kathy from Reflections)
