If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Thankful Thursday

On Tuesday, Jennifer at Overflowing With Thankfulness wrote a post about the Library in her town and I so loved it, as I am a big fan of Libraries. You  can see her post here. So, today for my Thankful Thursday post, I'd like to show you a couple pictures from my local Library as I am so thankful for it.  I love to read and have loved to read since I was a little girl.  I remember getting to go to this Library when I was little and I remember one in a nearby town that we used to live in and mom taking us kids in the summer.  I would get all these Junior Biographies of historical characters such as:  Molly Pitcher, Clara Barton, Abraham Lincoln, etc.  I just loved reading.  Also, of course, the Little House Books and Trixie Beldon, just so many.

I believe my mom instilled the love of reading for me and also some teachers who read to us out loud in class and then I'd get the books and read them myself.  And still today, I love to read good, clean fiction and some biographies, too.  Once in awhile I'll even read a mystery, but usually I get to antsy and can hardly wait until the end. I haven't been inside recently due to the you know what, but I'm always getting ebooks from there for my Kindle and also through the Libby app which is connected to my Library card.  I also get audio books to download to my computer and listen to while I'm working.

I went to the Library's website and checked on the history.  In 1903 Andrew Carnegie offered $10,000.00 to Lebanon for a public Library.  And the rest is history that you can read right here.

I got this picture from the internet at LebanonLibrary.org

So here are a few of my pictures from my library.

The Library Gazebo Park (this picture and the next 2 also)

This is the fiction section where I spend most of my time (next picture also)

Front entrance (and the next picture)

I am so thankful God gave me a mom who passed on to me her love of reading.

So what are you thankful for today.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.

Friday Photos

I have just a few pictures this week I thought I would share.

First of all, our mailbox was hit sometime in the night on Tuesday and completely destroyed.  I just hope whoever hit it was not hurt nor their car too damaged.  They completely split the mailbox post in half and the mailbox itself was in pieces too.

This part was in the ditch

You can see how far it flew and how totally destroyed it was.

We bought a new post and mailbox on Wednesday but it was raining so we decided to put it up last night.  Hubby and I are not very good at this kind of stuff, but we have done it before and thought we could.  Our neighbor man across the street came over to help and we told him we thought we could do it as we planned to use the same hole.  Well, we found out we really needed to dig the hole deeper and we don't have a post hole digger.  Our neighbor came home from work and asked if he could help.  He had a post hole digger so he went and got it and he actually ended up doing the work with a little help from us.  We are so blessed to have such wonderful neighbors.  I love where we live and who lives nearby.

Lucy is checking out the new mailbox.  I'm so pleased with it.

The sky was so beautiful later when I took Lucy out for a walk.

I couldn't resist taking several pictures.

Another one

And one last one.

I hope you have a wonderful day and thanks for taking a few minutes to visit here.

Things I am thankful for today:

**My youngest and her boyfriend are finally over Covid and he's back to work and they both are feeling better, not quite perfect yet, but getting there.

**Hubby made chili last night and I get to have leftovers for lunch today.

**Our mailbox was struck during the night sometime on Tuesday night.  As far as we know, nobody was hurt.  But the mail box and post were destroyed.  The post was split in half  and laying flat on the ground and the mailbox is in pieces.  It was old and looking pretty bad, so we really needed to replace it and had just been putting it off.  I ordered a new one from Lowes on the way into work and then we picked it up after work last night.  It's still in the back of the van as it rained all day yesterday.  Hoping we may be able to put it up tonight depending on the weather.

**Loving the cooler weather and today the rain has stopped.  But I really think fall is here.

**Made reservations over the weekend for our November trip and I'm so looking forward to it.

So what are you thankful for today?  Why not write a post and link up with us?  It's always good to be thankful.

Thanks for visiting and have a blessed day!

Leaves aren't changing colors much yet, but they are starting to fall some.   What is your favorite fall color?  All of them, but especially beautiful red leaves. Scent?  Cinnamon  Flavor? Chocolate and I don't care what season it is.  lol

About Thanksgiving

1.   What is your favorite Thanksgiving show/animated show?:
Of the movies Rotten Tomatoes listed for Thanksgiving, my favorite would be Blindside.  Though I never really thought of this as a Thanksgiving movie.

2.   What is there about Thanksgiving you like the best:
Family

3.   Favorite Thanksgiving/holiday song?:
The Old Hymn, "Count Your Many Blessings" is a good one.  Funny...while I'm answering this question I'm listening to one of my Pandora channels and  The Martins are singing a different song called "Count Your Blessings".  Funny how that works.

4.   If you have an all holiday music radio station when do you start listening to it?:
As soon as they start playing it, I start listening to it.

Hope you all have a great day and thanks for visiting.

Thankful Thursday

Today I thankful for my grandson.  He is 5 years old today and he is such a treasure.  He's funny, sassy, smart and loves to talk (when he wants to, not necessarily when you want him to.)  He is definitely his mommy made over.  Hubby and I love him and are so proud of him.  So, thank you God for giving us such a wonderful little boy to love and spoil.  I'm posting a few pictures of him over the past five years for my memories and I hope your enjoyment.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. How would you define 'old'?  If you're talking about a thing, I'd probably say 100 years.  I would imagine that would be considered an antique.  At what age is someone old? This I believe depends on the person.

2. A place you've been that's old? The house we moved to when I was a freshman was over 100 years old at that time and I loved that house.  It would be over 150 years old now, I suppose.  Tell us something about your visit there. It was an old white farmhouse and then my dad added a new family room and a bedroom above that onto the back of the house.  I have a lot of happy memories there at the farmhouse.  We called it Dream Acres (you know, a play on the TV show Green Acres) because my dad dreamed for years about owning that farm.
I found this old picture of the farmhouse on my sister's FB page.  I'm not home, so this is the best I can do.

3. Something you miss about the 'good old days'? My parents and my brother.  And what I wouldn't give to spend another Saturday evening with them.  For years, mom and dad basically had open house on Saturday nights for our family.  If we were able, we'd all meet there at some point in the evening and just sit in the living room and visit.  There was seldom ever a Saturday that at least a couple of us would show up and there were lots of Saturdays when we were all there.  I don't know that it was necessarily the good old days, but they were definitely good and I'd give anything to be able to do it one more time with all of us there. When were they anyway? My brother passed in 2014, so it was just shortly before that for the last time we ever got to do it with all of us.

4. In what way are you a 'chip off the old block'?  Or if you'd rather, in what way is your child a 'chip off the old block'? People tell me I look like my mom.  I'm not sure I think so (we are built very similar though.) My mom and dad were wonderful people and were friends with everyone they met.  They were always trying to help people in anyway they needed.  I wish I were more like them in that way.  I try, but I don't think I come anywhere close.

5. Old fashioned, Old Testament, old timer, same old same old, old glory, good old boy, old wives tale...choose an 'old' phrase that relates to something in your life or the wider world currently and explain.  Same old same old.  After 45 years, I'm feeling that way about work and can't wait to retire in a few months.  It's time.  I'm finally ready to start a new phase of life.

6. Insert your own random thought here.  Someone at work  posted this a few years back of me and a co-worker.  She has since retired.  I wonder what in the world they all think of me now.  lol
Thanks for visiting.

Thankful Thursday

Link up is here, here, or here.

This week I am thankful for time spent with my husband.  Other than work, we are mostly always together.  This past weekend on Saturday we went out for Italian for lunch and then drove to the Cincinnati Airport Observation area and watched all the planes coming and going.  It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed ourselves so much.  We do this quite often in the spring and fall of the year as the weather is cooler, but not too cold.  Here are a few pictures from the day.  It was cloudy, but still a gorgeous day.

So what are you thankful for today?  Do tell!

Thanks for visiting.
