If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Is Halloween a big deal in your neighborhood? Not really.  We do have kids that trick or treat though, but not many. Was it something you celebrated as a child? Yes, I remember trick or treating as a child.  With your own children? My own kids did, but usually, we took them to my parents neighborhood because the houses were closer, plus they got to see their grandparents and show them their costumes.   Do you like candy corn? .   Yes, in small doses.

2. Are you a scaredy cat? Sometimes  About what? Trying new things, but always scared of spiders (at least the big black ones)!

3. Last time you were somewhere that should have been busy but felt like a 'ghost town'? At the Chick-fil-a Drive through at lunch today.  Usually this is a humongous line, but there were just a few of us there.  Strange.

4. Do you like chili and if so how do you like it?  Yes, I like it the way hubby makes it.  Beans or no beans? I prefer no beans, but hubby likes beans, so we compromise.  He only puts about half of what he would like in it.  Meat or no meat?  Meat  Beef or chicken?   Beef, unless I'm eating white chili.  Spice or no spice? I really prefer a milder chili like hubby makes.  Favorite toppings? Grated cheddar cheese.

5. Would you describe yourself as a night owl? No,  I used to be when I worked 2nd shift for years, but no more.  What time of night qualifies?  I would consider being up to around 3:00am as a night owl.  What are you doing while everyone else is asleep? I used to watch TV or read.  Do you then 'sleep in'? No, because I have to go to work.  Define 'sleeping in'. I used to sleep in until around 11:00-11:30, but I didn't go to bed until around 4:00am then.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Anybody else watching the Hallmark Christmas movies?

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Weekend

We had a very nice weekend.  Some busy and some really quiet.  Surely, there was no time to be bored though.  lol

Friday night we picked up some Chinese and we spent the evening watching TV, doing a load of laundry and then lots of crocheting on the baby afghan I was hoping to finish in time for the baby shower on Saturday afternoon.  I did not finish it Friday night.

The first official new Hallmark Christmas movie

Crocheting away

Saturday I woke up really early and after reading my Bible and relaxing a bit, I finished the last 8-10 rows of the baby afghan.  I was so happy I did get it finished in plenty of time.  I guess I work better under pressure.

Finished

Finished

After that hubby and I got cleaned up and went out for a late breakfast and ran a few errands and then I met my two sisters to go to the shower.  We had so much fun there and mama to be got lots of wonderful presents.  We got to see the baby room and it was gorgeous (sorry, never thought to take pictures.)

Then we went home and hubby ordered us a pizza and we snuggled in an watched another Hallmark Christmas movie and then off to bed.

Sunday we had 2 wonderful services at church and a nice long nap in the middle of the afternoon.  My perfect Sunday.

So how was your weekend?  Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Some things I'm thankful for:

**    3 Day Weekend:  I had Monday off and we had such a nice weekend.  We really didn't do much but 3 days off in a row and just being together was a really good thing.

**    2 Baby Showers and a Sprinkle coming up in the next 2 weeks:  My cousin's daughters are expecting.  One with a first baby and the other with her 2nd child.  Then my brother's son and his wife are expecting their first. I'm so happy for them all.

**    My Daughters:  I'm so thankful that they get to spend the next few days together.  I love how strong their bond as sisters is.  I'm also thankful that my youngest and my grandson had safe flights yesterday getting there.

Stole this from FB, they  were on the Tram from
the parking lot to the Terminal.

**  I'm thankful for each and every day and for each of you too, and for the 3 ladies who host Thankful Thursday every week.  Their links are at the top of this post.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What obligation do you believe you have to your country? To pray for our country and our leaders because the Bible tells us to.

2. October 12 is National Farmers Day. Do you know any farmers? Mom and Dad had a small farm when I was in high school and for many years thereafter.  What do they farm/grow/raise?  Hay and field corn and a huge garden, and cows, pigs, rabbits, horses, chickens, turkeys, and bees for honey.  Are there any farm stands where you live? Our town has a farmer's market in the summer and fall months every Thursday evening.  Do you shop there? Sometimes, but not often.

3. What's a skill you think everyone should have? Reading  Tell us why? Because I've always heard and believed, that if you can read, you can do most anything.

4. Favorite thing you've purchased this year? My van that I bought from my mother-in-law last month.

5. What's your favorite place to visit in the fall? Myrtle Beach since we go most every November.  But I really love the drive there and back through Virginia as the leaves are so beautiful.  I also love the Smoky Mountains in the fall.

6. Insert your own random thought here.  Here are hubby and I in our new Breast Cancer Awareness Shirts for October.  These were designed and sold by some people at our work.  Proceeds went to the Mary Jo Cropper Center where I was treated 5 years ago.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you all have a great day.

Tuesday 4 - Blogging

Blogging

 1.  How often do you blog? What helps you blog.. what hinders you?
Looking in my sidebar it appears that I average about 10 posts a month.  Hoping that will increase in 2022 when I'm retired. Sometimes reading other blogs gives me ideas and what hinders is probably just time or having nothing to say at that time.

2.  What benefits do you get from blogging? Are there any?  I love finding new blogs and making new friends and keeping up with the old friends I've already made.  I'm so glad my friend talked me into blogging back in 2008.

3.  Have you ever changed your blog theme? Not really.  It has always been on Blogger and it still has the same name.  The name came because at that time we were major Disney fans and took a trip to Disney World as often as we could.  Originally I had a picture of a castle and the Tales part came from all the Disney Fairy Tales.  The TCKK part is from the first initials of us.  (Tracy, Cathy, Kelli & Kerri).  I've thought of changing it since the girls aren't home any more, but it's still pretty much the tales of our family (of course a lot of it is centered on the grandson now).  I also like to share my faith and anything I can about Jesus.

4. Where do you get your ideas for blog posts?  Our life, memes, Bible Studies, Church, etc.

You can link up here.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day!

Thankful Thursday

Click here, here and/or here to link up.

Things I am thankful for today:

*  Elijah Bible Study:  So enjoying this Bible Study by Priscilla Shirer.  We are over halfway through and it just seems to be getting better as we go.  If you're looking for a video driven Bible Study I would definitely recommend this one.

*  Women of the Bible Study Group:  I think this is also the reason for enjoying the above Bible Study.  This group of women are so fun to be with and so want to learn all they can about living for the Lord.  They are all different ages and in all stages of life and from all different churches.  I learn so much during our discussions.  I just feel so blessed to get to do Bible Study with each one.

*  TV Time with hubby in the evenings:  This may seem silly, but I so enjoy this time with my husband in the evenings.  We just relax and watch TV and laugh and talk.  Again, I just feel so blessed that we have this time together.

*  Each one of you:  I so enjoy reading your blogs and feel honored that you read mine.  I love getting to "know" you all here in blogland.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you are blessed today.  Of course, the very fact that we are breathing and moving shows we have already been blessed today.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Click above to link up.

1. Do you think intuition is as valuable as rational thinking? Explain why or why not. I think both are important.

2. In the grand scheme of things it's more important to trust God and then rest than it is to worry about our problems.

3. Last place you went that felt like 'Grand Central Station'? Have you ever actually been to Grand Central Station (and by Grand Central Station I mean Grand Central Terminal)? Quite often my dead end street seems like Grand Central Station, especially when I'm out walking the dog right after work.  I guess everyone who lives on the street is coming home then too.  Man, it can sure be a madhouse!  No I have never been to Grand Central Terminal but I have been to the Cincinnati Union Terminal which is now a Museum but used to be a busy train terminal.  I posted these pictures from a trip there in December, 2011.  You can go here to check out that post.
Such a beautiful place.

Love these windows and humongous flag!

Beautiful mural inside (just part of it)

The girls looking at something.  Man I miss the days of doing stuff like this with them.

Model Train Exhibit for Christmas

4. October 6 is National Noodle Day. What's your favorite dish made with noodles and have you made/eaten this dish lately? Beef and noodles are my favorite.  We make it in a crock pot.  We cook a beef roast all day and then I make the noodles right before eating.  Sometimes we add sour cream to our servings before eating which makes them creamier or sometimes not.  Both ways are delicious.  We probably make this about once a month or so.

5. A time recently you had to really 'use your noodle'? Elaborate. Definitely right now while trying to get all the things done and ready for retirement.  So much to think about.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

So many times when I read the Bible, I think people like David and Elijah were superhero type people.  But honestly, they were just human like we are.  However, they truly listened to God and did what He said most of the time.  And that is exactly what I need to do.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.

Tuesday 4

Kitchen Dreams

Welcome to Tuesday 4 in memory of Toni Taddeo!

This week's questions were provided by Pamela Steiner who has the Closed Doors Open Windows blog.

1.  They say the kitchen is the heart of the home...tell us about YOUR kitchen. What is your favorite part of your kitchen?  Our kitchen has lots of cabinets and it's kind of long and narrow.  It is open on one end into the "dining room" but really for us it's a continuation of the kitchen and it's where our table is.  My favorite thing in my kitchen is that there is a window looking into our back yard over the sink.  So when I wash dishes I can see out there.

2. If money were no object, what would be your "dream kitchen"?  I would like a more square kitchen where I could have a big island in the middle and lots of room for people to be in there with me.

3.  Tell us about a favorite memory from your kitchen, or from a kitchen in your past, perhaps your mother's kitchen or your grandma's kitchen? All the get-togethers mom and dad had in their home and they always seemed to center around the kitchen.  Everyone loved to come to mom and dad's house because they made everyone right at home.  Mom was always willing to put people to work in the kitchen if they so desired.
Dad and Mom serving themselves in their last kitchen

Mom and all her brothers and sisters enjoying each other
just outside her last kitchen which was very small

Mom at one of our get-togethers.

 4.  If you could invite anyone in the world (either past or present) to come visit with you in your kitchen, who would it be, and why?  Mom and Dad because I miss them.  But I really would never want them to have to come back to his world.  I'd much rather go to them when it's time (but not too soon, because I hope to see my grandson grow up.

Thanks for visiting.  Why not link up here and tell us about your kitchen.
