1. How good are you at delaying gratification?
I'm not very good at waiting, unfortunately. Something I definitely need to work on.
2. Maybe a marshmallow wouldn't be too difficult a temptation for you. What food (or anything else) would be most tempting?
Yeah, a marshmallow wouldn't be bad, but now any kind of chocolate would be a real problem.
3. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being saintly) how patient are you?
On a good day, maybe an 8, but on every other day about a 4.
4. Have you ever waited for something in life only to be disappointed upon realization of the goal/object/etc.?
Yes
5. Are you a person who takes shortcuts?
Yes, sometimes.
6. Which line is hardest to wait in?
Checkout line
7. Did you wait to discover the gender of your unborn child until its birth?
8. Are you more patient with children or the elderly?
Elderly
9. Did you ever sneak a peek at a present?
I don't think so, because I don't want to ruin the surprise.
10. What is the longest you've ever waited for anything?
To get married. I was 31. Or to retire - I'm still waiting after 33 years of working.
11. Who has more patience, you or your significant other?
Dad (I asked Kelli and she said dad too. What in the world does that say about me.)
12. Which of the following songs about waiting is your pick for the best? (OK, you may substitute another, if you like.)
A) Anticipation by Carly Simon
B) The Waiting by Tom Petty
C) Right Here Waiting for You by Richard Marx
D) Wait for Me by Rebecca St. James
I'd say Anticipation, mainly cause I don't think I know the others. lol
Hi Cathy
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your random dozen. Sorry to hear about your daughter's car accident. I am so thankful she was not hurt badly and that you were near enough to go help her. Hope you have a more relaxing day today.

#10 It's nice to meet someone else who waited a long time (of course, I'm still waiting) to get married. It's an encouragement really.
ReplyDeleteAnd who can resist chocolate? They deserve saint or superhero status on that merit alone!
I enjoyed reading your answers today.
The retiring thing I totally get. I'm not at retirement age yet but I've been working full time since 18 which is 31 years. I would love to just go part time.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your answers today. I am like you on #12 Anticipation was the only one I knew, but then I thought of FFH. LOL
ReplyDeleteSorry to here about Kelli's accident. Glad she was OK. Bless her heart, I am sure she was scared. Things like that happen so quickly.
Hope you have a wonderful day.
until next time... nel
Loved your answers, and I picked the same song for #12. For the same reason!
ReplyDeleteWell...your kids would know best on that one...ha ha.

I think chocolate is a challenge for a few of us!
ReplyDeleteMany of us didn't know any of her song choices except for A. Wonder what that says about us?
See you next week.
Only those of us in the western world expect to retire -- it's a concept totally unheard of before the 20th century...I wonder what that says about us? Hmmmm. Good answers
ReplyDeleteYou made me laugh about the songs.
ReplyDeleteWylie
Loved reading these!
ReplyDeleteAnticipation is the only one of these songs that I know too!
Great Answers. Oooo checkout was a good one. I think my child would pick his Dad too ;)
