Seeking Some Input

Hubby and I made reservations for 5 days/4 nights in Pigeon Forge next month. Have you ever been there? It's been a couple years since we've been there, but we totally love Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg & the Smoky Mountains. In fact, 24 years ago, this is where we spent our Honeymoon. We've gone multiple times since then as just a couple, but for the past 17 years, we've gone as a family and this will be just the 2 of us. I am so excited and can't wait.

Anyway, I'm looking for some ideas from any of you who have been there, of new or different things to do while we are there. Maybe places you like to eat, or entertainment you've enjoyed, or walks in the mountains you've enjoyed (notice I say walks and not hikes-we are too out of shape for hikes! haha), etc. Is there a particular dinner show or just a show that you recommend?

Sometimes planning a trip can be almost as much fun as taking a trip. And that's where I am right now. I just want to have fun over the next several weeks planning and preparing and looking forward to our time together.

Thank you for any ideas you may share.

  1. Cathy, I love going to the Smoky Mountains! It's been a few years, but I'm dying to go back. We used to live in Knoxville. I would definitely plan a visit to Cades Cove...absolutely beautiful! We've never really been to any dinner shows and such. We just enjoy being in the outdoors and taking in the breathtaking scenery. You must go to the Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant in Pigeon Forge...best apple fritters you'll ever put in your mouth!

  2. We like breakfast and/or dinner at The Back Porch in Townsend TN...not much in Townsend, especially in the winter time, but we always take a drive down to the 'Y' where the road forks and the creek gets wide. We always do the Cades Cove Loop. We will be in that area in Feb too, visiting my in-laws. I'll look for you : )

  3. We always loved the little back road with all the local artists on it - its like behind Pigeon Forge... it has a name... I'm blank! DANG IT... but its a fun ride & cool stops all along the road. I'm sure the locals would know the name.

I've never done the Dixie Stampede, but always heard its fun

Of course, the Apple Barn & Pancake Pantry is a MUST

We always have a tradition of stopping at the Happy Days Cafe for lunch on the day we leave. Its nothing but junk - Happy Days style :)

If its warm - do the Hillbilly Mini Golf - its a Gatlinburg MUST :)
