Tuesday 4 - Soda Pop

Welcome to Tuesday 4 (Click to link up) which was started by our friend Toni Taddeo and kept up in memory of her.

Different sections of the USA have different words and customs they use. Let's talk about
them.

1. In New Jersey you put your groceries in a paper bag or plastic bag.  In Athens, Ohio where I went to university, you put them in a paper sack.
Is it bag , sack or something else where you live?
We call it a bag.

2. NJ says  Stockings.Athens,  Ohio used to call them "hose" and in Britain they are tights. What about where you live?
Hose but seldom do I see anyone wear them anymore. And I definitely do no wear them.  It's been years since I've even had a dress on.

3.Soda, Pop, Coke?
Pop

4. Shopping cart or trolley or? What do you call it?
Shopping cart.

So how about you, what do you call these things?

Today is my sweet husband’s birthday!  He is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I’d rather do this life with him than anyone I know. He just makes me happy.   Happy Birthday Dear!!!

  1. No dresses for me, either, unless it's summer and I don't need to wear pantyhose. Maybe it's just me being old and lumpy, but I think they are perfectly miserable to wear...not comfortable at all and getting them on is a workout! Have a great day, Cathy!

    1. Thank you. He’s asked for a quiet evening at home with hamburgers for dinner. So that’s what he’ll get.

  6. Happy Birthday to your sweet hubby! Hope you do something fun to celebrate. Oh, I see your comment above..."quiet evening at home with hamburgers for dinner." That sounds like something my hubby would want. He loves hamburgers, and seldom orders anything different when we go out to eat. Oh, I used to call soft drinks "Pop", as that is what my family always said (originally from PA.) But in the south everyone just calls it a "coke", regardless of what it really is! LOL. I occasionally wear a dress to church, and usually do wear pantyhose when I do...but if I wear dress slacks I wear knee-highs. And my shopping cart is called a "buggy". Have a blessed day!

  7. Happy Birthday to your sweetheart! I no longer drink carbonated beverages, but usually refer to everything as Dr. Pepper. :)

  8. I imagine they must still sell pantyhose in the stores. I can't remember the last time I wore a pair. Maybe Amber's wedding like 16 years ago. Happy Birthday to your husband!!!

  9. Happy birthday to your hubby! No dresses for me either... and even if I did wear one, I wouldn't put on pantyhose. Fun questions!
