If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Tuesday 4

Moving

Welcome to Tuesday 4 kept up in memory of our friend Toni Taddeo who began it several years ago.  She would be so pleased to see people keeping up with it!

Let's talk about moving today.

1. How far away are you from where you grew up?  I am within 15 miles of where I grew up.

2. Families sometimes move all over the country. Do you feel that a family should try to stay close together?  I think it's up to the family.  I have always lived within probably a 15 mile radius of where I am now.  But as you all know my girls live in Florida and Texas and I'm okay with that too.

3. How many times have you moved in your life and would you like to share when and where you moved?  I have moved 12 times in my life.  Again, all have been in this general area.  We moved 5 times with my parents.  They loved to buy homes and remodel them and we'd live there for a few years and they'd do it again.  Also, my dad built some of the homes we lived in.  Because of this moving, I went to 3 elementary schools, 1 Junior High and 2 High Schools.  But again, they were all in this general area.  Then I lived in 3 different places with my sister and I've lived in 4 different places with my hubby.

4. What brought you to where you are living now and are you happy there?  My dad offered to build us a home about the time we were getting ready to adopt our girls.  There were reasons that we needed to leave where we were living at that time.  I love where we live (as my dad built it) and I'm content staying there.  But the day may come when we will decide to downsize and maybe move to a condo.  Currently I believe it will be in this general area too.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.  You can click on the first paragraph if you would like to link up and join in for the fun.

  2. Hi, Cathy. Thank you for visiting my blog. That is so special that your dad built your house! A special connection. You asked about playing the dulcimer. It is said to be one of the easiest instruments to learn and I tend to agree. I'm just such a perfectionist and impatient that I've found it quite a challenge. You will love the Smokies in April!

    1. I'm so looking forward to our trip. I play piano, but have never been able to play a stringed instrument (although, I guess a piano is considered a string instrument). I'd love to play the dulcimer or ukelele. They both have such a neat sound.

  3. Well, I learned some new things here today...and how wonderful that your dad built your home for you. That does make it extra special. And how special that your girls are adopted and are so blessed to have been chosen by you and your hubby (and God) to be your children. Also neat that you have lived in the same general area your whole life. For me it is hard to imagine, but I was thankful that my parents lived in the same town all my life (except my first 6 years), and so I always knew I had a home to go home to. Most importantly, now I know we have a heavenly home to go home to forever! That is my final home! I'm not sure I could do "condo living". I tend to need a little more "elbow room" around me as far as neighbors go. But, never say never. Who knows what the future may hold? Only Jesus!

    1. Someday, I need to share all the miracles that occurred and the things that worked together to bring us together as a family. Hubby and I are truly the blessed ones.

  5. How nice that your dad built your house. My added room additions to 3 of their homes. They added a family room to one of them. My dad drew up the plans. Several neighbors copied him. They they added a second level to another home that included 3 bedrooms, a bath and storage closet. They also brought in the laundry room from the garage. Finally they added a huge family room dining area to hometown home and a pool. I sure miss them but I will join then someday in their eternal home. Nice that you adopted your daughters.

  7. Gator and I lived in the house my dad built in OK until we moved to KS. The prior tenant tore it up so bad it became a safety issue, to get it back to code was going to be well over 150k we opted to let mom put it up for sale as we knew with the repairs and mold growing it was unhealthy for us. Hope you have a great week

  10. I have to say just reading the word 'moving' made my blood pressure rise. I truly hate to move. But that comes from years as a military wife. My in-laws live in a home built by my husband's grandfather. So special.
