Tuesday 4 - Interests and Hobbies

Interests and Hobbies

Welcome to Tuesday 4 kept up in honor of Toni Taddeo.  Let's talk today about your interests and hobbies.

1. What are your interests and hobbies? .. reading? writing? collecting?  I enjoy reading...mostly Christian fiction and sometimes biographies too.  I also enjoy playing piano (can't wait to spend more time doing this when I retire) and crocheting, loom-knitting and machine-knitting.  I used to collect Teapots, but not any more.  I still have several, but I don't actively search for them any more and I've given several away.

2 How much time a week/day/month do you devote to your interests?  Some weeks it's hours and some weeks, none at all.

3. Do you share your interests with anyone?  My sister loves to read the same kind of books as me and we will share sometimes (except mostly we read on Kindle and we haven't figured out the sharing part).  However, we are always telling each other about new authors we like.  My sister also plays piano and I gave some of the teapots to her.  So yeah, I guess we share some of the same interests.

4.Tell us why you enjoy your hobby, pastimes or interests.  No real reason, other than I just do.  My mom was an avid reader and I guess she taught us and mom loved collecting antiques of certain kinds and I then several of my teapots she found and gave to me when she found out I liked them.  Mom made us take piano and now I'm so glad she did.  It is just so fun to play when no one is around.  That's why I can't wait until I retire, as hubby will still be working and I'll have time in the house without anyone there to just play and sing to my heart's content.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you will join in.  There is a link near the top of this post.

  1. You have some wonderful hobbies. I wish I knew how to play the piano. I just Googled "how can you share reading books on kindle." Apparently you can loan them. Check it out. That was so nice of your mom. Neither of my parents read books.

    1. Thanks for suggesting Google. I did and was able to send my sister a book. I don't know why I didn't think of that. lol

  3. What do you knit on the looms, Cathy? My mom taught me to make hats to donate to her organization (they make and donate hats to chemo patients and preemies; blankets for the babies, too; scarves for soldiers; lap robes for nursing homes; and prayer shawls). That's all I've learned to do so far. I have a few pattern books and a few different sizes and shapes of looms. I guess I'm going to learn to make other things when I get "old." Ha!

  5. I love that you also collected teapots. I don't really collect new ones anymore either, except I found that apple one last week at the flea market and couldn't resist because it reminded me of my Grandma. But I have given some away too. Someday someone else will get all these things and hopefully enjoy them. I wish I could play the piano, but never learned. I hope you can play to your heart's content when you retire. That will be fun!!!

  6. A bunch of us are readers! I used to collect teapots, too, but only ones with cats decorating them in some fashion! I wish often that I had stuck with my piano lessons. Good for you! xo

  7. I use to collect teacups and probably have around 14 of them. I am hoping to have a tea party in the future once Covid is gone. I also have a few teapots, a few that have scripture on them. I like Christian fiction too!

  8. I am also an avid reader and like all kinds of books. I am afraid, books and china / dishware will be my "downfall" when it comes to packing to move. grin. Have a beautiful day friend.
