A few tidbits from this weekend.
On Saturday hubby and I went to Applebee's for lunch. I had been given a gift card for there from a friend for my retirement. Lunch was delicious.
After lunch we went to Barnes and Noble as I had been given a gift card for there also. I bought 2 new books which is something I rarely ever do since I got my Kindle. It was so fun to go in and just browse for a bit. Below are the 2 books I purchased, One takes placed in a book shop and the other in a yarn shop, which are two of my favorite things: books and yarn. I'm looking forward to reading them.
That's mom & me as my screensaver on my laptop. I think mom would have loved reading these books too. |
My sister bought a new smart TV last week and then didn't like it (she decided she just wanted a regular TV not a smart one. Anyway, after she got what she preferred she sold hubby and I the new one. So far we love it. Of course, I have to learn how to use it now. But that being said, I seldom watch TV when he's not watching, so mostly he'll handle all that stuff. lol
Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day,
Cathy
Oh, I love Applebees, but we haven't been in ages as there isn't one near us here. I do miss having good restaurants within a reasonable distance. I think the nearest Applebees is probably an hour away. Oh, and to go to a real bookstore! Wow! You really did have a good time! And those books look interesting! You must tell us about them when done. We enjoy our Smart TV. Although I really don't know much about the whole operation of it either...I don't really watch a LOT of tv. Hubby sure enjoys it, however. I'm glad you have your hubby's sermons on video. That is really special. I have boxes full of cassette tapes of my husband's sermons...but who can use them now? Not too many people still use cassette tape players. They would be too expensive to convert to digital. We used to send them to my MIL and she loved listening to her son preach. We also had a ministry to shutins back in the day. Now everything is on the computer for our church like yours. That's a wonderful tool to be used. Thank you for sharing with us. I hope you have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteWe're blessed to have most chain restaurants within 20-40 minutes of us. Hubby and I usually watch TV together, so as long as he gets it we'll be okay. However, I do intend to learn it too...mainly because I need to make myself stay up with technology. Yes, I'm so glad he has made a YouTube channel for the church and now most everything is going on there. There are a lot from the past we don't have, but at least we have these now. Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.
DeleteLunch and Barnes & Noble sounds like a nice time. I think you will enjoy your new TV. We continually have to learn new things which can often frustrate me the older I get.
ReplyDeleteHoping I'll catch on pretty quick. Time will tell.
DeleteHooray for gift cards - what a treat!! Those books look like good finds. Let us know if you like them!!
ReplyDeleteOkay I'll try to,
DeleteI used to love visiting Barnes & Noble -- everything feels so welcome and cozy! Were it not for Tom, I'd love to kick our Smart TV to the curb. The other day I turned it on and saw where the DVD was recording and couldn't make it stop. Yes, I'm easily intimidated. Ha.
ReplyDeleteWell that's exactly what my sister did and she is very happy she did. lol Actually so am I as I got the new one. lol
DeleteI can't imagine not having a smart TV! We gave up our cable a couple of years ago and use streaming apps now. I wouldn't go back! Hope you love it as much as I do! I enjoyed your post! Have a great week! xo
ReplyDeleteThanks Terri. I hope we do too.
