Bits of This and That

I've done a bit of reading this weekend amongst all the activities.  First, I finished a novel "Will the Circle Be Unbroken? by Sean Dietrich (Sean of the South) that was very good.  If you enjoy his blog, then you'd probably like this book.  I love all his southern style comments, many of which I heard growing up, but I never lived in the south at all.  This book is about him and his life (especially his younger life with his dad, who committed suicide when Sean was 10 years old)  So, sometimes this was a little sad and hard to read, but I'm so glad I stuck with it.  It's worth it to see how he's grown and learned to cope with such hard times he had when growing up.  I would also suggest you to follow his blog (There's a link in my sidebar under blogs I read).  His posts are so uplifting and encouraging in some many ways.

I started another book and am about halfway through it.  It's called "Run Rose Run" and was written by James Patterson and Dolly Parton.  The more I read of it, the more I like it.  It's about a young girl all alone, trying to get into country music.  Obviously, something has happened in her past that she is running from, but the authors are very good about leaving you hanging and wanting to know more (a bit of a thriller, I think).  I can't hardly wait to see what's happened and what will happen and I guess that's what a good mystery book is supposed to do.  lol

Sunday morning, Tracy preached another great sermon from Hebrews.  I never got around to posting last week's sermon, which was a personal favorite of mine as I learned some things that I have misunderstood in the past.  Very enlightening.  I will post them both here, if you are interested.

  1. Small world! Based on the recommendation of another blogger, I started following Sean's column about 5 years ago. I was SO excited to meet him at this book signing a couple of years ago-- but when we walked in the door we were informed, just that morning his publisher put the kabosh on his tour b/c of the pandemic. Disappointed, but at least we got the book.

  3. I love Sean Dietrich and have followed his blog for quite a few years. I've never purchased one of his books, though, so may have to check into them. I quit reading James Patterson years ago because I just got tired of him. The book you are reading sounds interesting, though! Thanks for the review! xo

  6. Okay, now I need to be more earnest in following Sean D. I do read his blogs now and then, but not regularly. But I guess I am missing something so I need to check it out! The other book sounds interesting too. I hope to get back into more reading this winter when the nights are long. LOL. I've just kind of been on a reading hiatus for a while. Not sure why. I'm glad your husband continues to preach from Hebrews. That is such a good book in the Bible, full of so much good teaching and theology for our growth and life. Of course, the whole Bible is full of that, but I do love Hebrews. Thank you for sharing these with us. May God bless your week with His peace.

  7. I'm going to try to find that book to read that you're reading by James Patterson and Dolly Parton. I love James Patterson! I've liked him for a long time and borrowed a couple of his books after reading about you reading this one by him. I love that his chapters are short- it makes it easy to keep reading, thus finishing the book faster. Thanks for sharing!

    1. I really think you will enjoy. Actually, after writing this post, I spent most of the rest of the afternoon finishing the book. I usually never read that much in one day, but I just had to know. lol
