If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Tuesday 4 - Home Sweet Home

 Home Sweet Home

You can link here to join in with Tuesday 4.

1. What kind of home do you have and does it need repair or improvements this year? We live in a ranch style home built by my father in 1996 in a subdivision a mile or so outside our city.

2. How do you accessorize your home inside and out?    Plants, art, books, wall hangings, maybe music in the background?  We have a big book shelf in the livingroom, we have paintings by my sister and also my daughter, etc.

3. What objects reside on your coffee table? Night stand? Side tables? Kitchen/Dining table?   Tablet and Pen, usually some type of yarn project is nearby, iPad, Phone and Kindle too.

4.  Do you like your kitchen organized and with counters cleared off or do you prefer to have  the things you use often out on counters?     Do you mind  what some might see as clutter or do you hate having to dig out tools and appliances  when it comes time to use them? and prefer to have them within easy reach?  I dream of counters that are empty, but that will never happen in our home, because we have too many items we use often, and I don't want to always have to dig into cabinets to get them.  Easy Reach definitely works better for us.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you'll tell us about your home and click the link above to join in.

  1. How cool to be living in a home your father built! No worries about shoddy craftsmanship, or cutting corners! We're all about Easy Reach, too. If I sit on the floor to find something in a bottom cabinet, getting back up again's an exercise in the absurd!

  2. I love the fact that your Dad built your home. Did your parents live there first...did you live there before marriage? I have a hard time figuring the years...LOL. It is a lovely house from what I can see! I know it is special to you. Yes, at this stage in life it is more convenient to have things we use a lot within an easy reach. I know for me if we are having company I can clean off things and put them away if necessary, but on the other hand, our home is our "castle", and we need to keep it the way it works best for us. As long as it is reasonably clean and comfortable, that is all that matters. Have a blessed and wonderful rest of your week.

    1. No, he built it for us. We're the only ones who have lived in it. A couple weeks after we moved in our girls came to live with us as foster to adopt. Hubby also was formally installed as pastor of the church we are still at. It was a very active time. lol

  3. Lke the others I think it's special to live in the home your father created. It's a beautiful house.
I think we all should do in our kitchen what we want and how we want. I wish we had a bit more space to leave some things on the counter. Now Mr. J. has problems with dementia I sometimes have to search for something. Sometimes he just throws things away because he forgets where to put them.

    Have a good week!

    1. Thank you. We love it. It needs some work like paint and new flooring and hopefully we'll get to it this year.

  6. Hi Kathy, I like the porch and how cool that your dad built your home! Our is considered ranch too, but much older. I used to keep everything a certain way. But I realized that nothing is going anywhere. It is easy when everything has a place, but sometimes my ADD gets the best of me and things don't get done. Life is too short, so I don't sweat the small stuff. Now my husband is a different story and is a bit OCD! So, things do get done! :)

    1. At times, both of us are a little sloppy. I remember when raising the girls I didn't get to upset about their rooms and always thought that's what doors are for. If they wanted to have to walk over or around things, it was up to them. Of course, every so often I would go in and do a thorough cleaning.

  7. Yes to easy reach!! I am blessed to have a nice walk-in pantry so some of the small appliances are in there and easy to bring out but I still have a lot of things on the counters. It's what makes a house a home to my way of thinking, anyway!! A fun post!! xo

  8. How wonderful to have your home built for you. I agree that for some of us (me included) it is important to be able to get at your kitchen tools and appliances with ease rather than to have to dig into cabinets and pantries when you want to use them.
