If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Click above if you'd like to link up with the Hodgepodge.

1. May 24th is National Brother's Day. Do you have a brother? Older or younger? Did you raise brothers? Tell us something about your brother or tell us something about your own children who are brothers. Yes, I have 2 brothers, 1 is the oldest sibling and 1 is the youngest sibling.  They are like the bookends to us 3 girls in the middle.  My older brother, Larry passed away in 2014.  He was a pretty awesome guy.  He traveled lots and he was adventurous.  He walked over half of the Appalachian Trail a couple years before he died.  My youngest brother, Jeff is pretty awesome too.  He is married and has 2 sons (the younger one is the groom in the photos from Monday's post).  They both have incredible talents for building and remodeling homes.  They both have really great voices too.  While my oldest brother did not sing publicly, the younger does and he's pretty amazing.  In case you can't tell, I really love my brothers!
Larry is in cap and gown in 1969, he was 17
and entered college that fall and Jeff in front of
mom entered 1st grade that year.  They were 12 years
 apart in age.

2. A great book you've read or movie you enjoy that features brothers?  How about the Sound of Music.  There were some brothers in the family.

3. Something you think is overrated? Target  Something you think is underrated?  Walmart

4. How much does your past shape you? I think it plays a big part in who I am.  What parts have shaped you the most? I think the fact that I was raised in a Christian home had a big impact on my life and my spiritual life.

5. What's your favorite simple pleasure? I know I say this all the time, but just being with my husband is the best to me.

6. Insert your own random thought here.  You know, I think if we would all do what this verse below says, we'd be so much better off.
This is from the story of Jesus' first earthly miracle.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day

  1. What a beautiful family! Your brothers sound pretty amazing. I am sorry your oldest brother had to leave this earth so soon. So has my oldest brother passed on in 2019. I still have another older brother, and he's pretty amazing too. My only concern is that I'm not 100% sure he knows the Lord. He grew up in church just like I did, but he seems to be leaning on his good works as opposed to faith in Christ...so that is a concern to me. I just pray that God knows his heart and that he will do whatever it takes to wake him up before it's too late. I pray that our whole family will be in heaven one day. I love the quote you posted from John 2:5. Yes, if we would just "do whatever He (Jesus) tells us to do", we would live a much better and happier life. Blessings to you today.

    1. Hi Pam. My older brother lived a long time before he gave his life to Christ but I know as sure as I'm sitting here he is with Jesus right now. Praying your brother will give his life to Jesus too.

    1. I don't know why it popped into my head, but that's about the only one I could think of.

  5. I haven't watched The Sound of Music in a long time but do have the DVD. I need to get it out and queued up. Such a nice picture of your family. I lost my only brother 20 years ago. Miss him still. xo

  6. Y'know I think I need a recording of Mary's voice reminding me to do whatever Jesus tells me to. Good thought! Have a great week!

  7. Not sure if you are following the 'issue' with Target currently, but I read today Target is removing some of the merchandise people were up in arms about, or at least moving it to the back of the store in some cities so that's good news. I just scratch my head wondering at the person who decided to go the route they did. I don't shop at Target since there isn't one in our area anyway.

    1. I didn't know about the issues that are going on until after I had written and posted this. So this didn't have anything to do with that. I've just never really cared for Target. I much prefer shopping at Walmart. But that's just me. As for the issues, I'm glad to hear they are making some attempts at least to change some of what they've done.

  8. I enjoyed reading about your brothers and your relationship with them. Since we moved to the country and since Wal-Mart is our one option for a department style store, I've really bonded with it. Sound of Music is a fun choice for a brother movie! I didn't think of that. Hope the rest of your week is good!

  9. I had a brother named Jeff too! He was older than me by 9 years and I loved him so much, he was like a second dad. Sadly, cancer took him 20 years ago, he knew the Lord, so I know where he is, and I look forward to seeing him again someday. I love your answer to #5, I feel the same way about Mr D.

  11. Lovely answer on your brothers. Sorry your older brother is gone. How wonderful that he walked over half of the Appalachian Trail. ((Hugs)) Your younger brother sounds wonderful too. Sounds of music is a good pick. Yes, being raised a Christian definitely impacted how you are today. Have a lovely weekend.
