And to me..they just don't SOUND right in any other version. I noticed it when my kid were learning verses for Awana, or in VBS, or even in GAs and Sunday school now. They just don't sound right to me. But I do love my NIV. I'd never heard of the Message until this past Wednesday night at Bible Study. My friend has a dual Bible..NIV one side of the page, the Message on the other, and we were comparing a verse, and OH MY..how newfangled it sounded to me.
That kinda bothered me.
I'm not one big on change anyway...so don't go messin with my scriptures! LOL
I'm glad it's there tho..for those that need it. People won't study the Bible these days the way we use to. Everything in life has to be made easier, so naturaly, I guess the Bible does, too. But if it gets them in the Word...then it is serving a good purpose!
:)Bits-n-Pieceshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15867627128328453440noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4870836041061571896.post-69184781684009044862010-04-27T23:29:59.796-04:002010-04-27T23:29:59.796-04:00MY Bible from so many years ago...the one with all...MY Bible from so many years ago...the one with all the writing and highlighting is the NKJV & I love it. When I teach, I usually use the Amplified because it provides an extended explanation of what is being expressed. I posted yesterday with Phillipians 1:21 as my Scripture foundation. Isn't God good like that?? :)christy rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04576305610780918375noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4870836041061571896.post-67812847777945002652010-04-27T09:16:36.342-04:002010-04-27T09:16:36.342-04:00I've used the NIV ever since it came out 30+ y...I've used the NIV ever since it came out 30+ years ago.

I like looking things up in The Message to see how it's worded, but for regular study and reading I prefer the NIV.Mocha with Lindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16387717261200678465noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4870836041061571896.post-46576859849986159722010-04-27T09:11:29.957-04:002010-04-27T09:11:29.957-04:00I've always used a NIV... but have found a lov...I've always used a NIV... but have found a love for the Message lately too... so got me a parallel version of NIV/Message that I LOVE!!! My hubby uses the NASB & NIV {& occasionally The Message} when preparing to lead our Lifegroup {Sunday school class}. The Message hasn't grabbed me yet. And, there are times when a word is just spoken so powerfully through the KJV. There are some verses that are so beautifully & poetically spoken through the King Jimmy! :) I guess the bottom line is that I just LOVE God's word that is speaks to me!!!
WylieWylie @ Shout A Joyful Noise!https://www.blogger.com/profile/00760385553417475647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4870836041061571896.post-72359969819616401122010-04-27T07:50:35.028-04:002010-04-27T07:50:35.028-04:00Cathy I read KJV :)Cathy I read KJV :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
