Carriage Parade

On the first Saturday in December every year our small town has a Christmas Festival with 2 Carriage Parades. It had been a couple of years since we have gone. So Saturday night the girls and I headed downtown. The night parade starts at 7p. So the girls and I got there around 5p and paid for parking and then walked up to the festival area. It was cold, probably around the high 20's to low 30's.
This guy was giving people rides.

This is the Golden Lamb which is Ohio's oldest inn. See the chairs already lined up out front. It's not even dark yet.

This is Gazebo Park next to the Golden Lamb.

This shop had live little models in the window. They were so adorable.

This is inside the shop where the bells were on display.

For about an hour we walked around and checked out the vendors and then went into some of the small shops. We checked on the shop with Kelli's bell (we still haven't heard who won the contest, but her bell had one of the highest bids going...at least at that time). As I said it was cold out, but so far so good. At 6p I decided we better find a spot to watch the parade. Below are a few pictures I took while standing in our spot for an hour before the parade started. It started getting really cold now while we were just standing and waiting.

Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus

This is how our streetlights are decorated.

And below are 3 short clips of the Carriage Parade. I couldn't seem to take good pictures, but the videos aren't bad. I hope you enjoy. After about 45 minutes of the parade we were so cold we headed to the car. Our feet were so frozen, or toes were stiff and it was really hard to walk. Note to self: next time wear thermal socks and bring a lawn chair and blanket and line it up on the street like everyone else so you don't have to stand forever. Really, other than being so cold it was fun and exciting being in the crowd with everyone else. I love my little town and I hope you enjoy sharing in our Christmas Carriage Parade.

  1. This is soo fun! I love it. Your family lives in the MOST WONDERFUL PLACE ON THE EARTH!!!!

  2. BEautiful...I wish we had a fun parade like that. The live models were so cute and the little girl in the red looked so much like Model when she was 4.

  3. That's awesome! What a great thing. Our town is having a Christmas celebration this Saturday morning. Should be fun. I'm look forward to it.

  4. I love the little horses...I always say "I think I can, I think I can" when they go past.

  5. Y'all's little town looks a lot like our little town. Your street lights are decorated the same, the little gazebo...

Heck, you even have snow falling on yours just like I do! ha ha ha

  6. How wonderful! Great pics! I LOVE that you have this parade to look forward to each year!
