Tuesday 4 - Marriage - Anniversary

Click (here) to link up with Tuesday 4.

                    Marriage...

1. How did you meet your husband/wife?  My husband and I met at church.  Hubby was the Minister of Music at a church that I started going to with my sister.  We wanted a change from the church we had grown up in and started there together.  We joined the choir and, of course, he was the director.  I was in the choir for a year before he ever actually talked to me.  But once we did start talking, we had a date within a couple weeks and then we started seeing each other almost every day.  And then we married a little over a year later.

2. How did you know he/she was “the one”?  I remember talking to my older sister and asking how you know if it's love and she said, "Cathy it's not like in the romance books.  When you care more about what he wants than what you want then you know.  From that point on I knew he was the one and here we are almost 32 years later and I still know without any doubt!

3. How did he propose? He really didn't.  We started talking about getting married and what we wanted and then we actually picked out a ring, but he wouldn't let me have it until a day he had planned.  We were going to a friends wedding (I was singing) and we stopped at a restaurant for some lunch and he gave me the ring then.  It was perfect to me.  I just wanted to marry the man.  I didn't care about a big production.

4. Do you have any favorite stories from your marriage or about your husband/wife?  I remember after the wedding we left and changed clothes and then we came back to the church because hubby had left his shoes in his office (remember he was on staff there).  When he went inside and left me in the car alone I had a sudden panic attack.  I remember thinking, "What in the world have I done.  I have to live with this man for the rest of my life."  It was like the first time I had any doubts.  I prayed and then calmed down and to this day, I have never regretted that decision.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. It's fall y'all. What's something you love about this season and also something you don't? I love all the colors and the cooler weather.  I don't particularly like raking leaves (which we really don't have to do anymore).

2. When you think of the colors of fall, which one is your favorite? Is there somewhere you could easily day trip to see the leaves in all their glory? Will you? My favorite color is probably the dark red.  We could easily see beautiful color on just about any back road trip in our area.  Will we do it, probably but it's still too early.  Plus when we head south for our November trip, the leaves are usually gorgeous in the hills of West Virginia.  Below are a couple of pictures in our area last fall.

In our neighborhood

I'm not exactly sure where this one was

3. What's one thing you've let 'fall' by the wayside during this season of staying home and staying away? We let our spring trip to Gatlinburg go, but otherwise we live about the same as always.  We don't eat out near as often either and the majority of the time we do take out, but we do eat in some also, just not quite as often as before.

4. If you're wearing a sweater is it most likely a cardigan, crew neck, v-neck, or zip up hoodie? Definitely a zip up hoodie.

5. What's your secret to dealing with change? No secret.  I just do a lot of praying.

6.  Insert your own random thought here.

Even Covid in 2020 will pass.

She Said Yes to the Dress!

I had a great 3 days with Kelli in Florida.  I flew in on Friday afternoon.  We went to her house and relaxed there for the evening.  We watched the new Mulan (which I liked better than she did) and had Chinese Take-Out for dinner (rather appropriate, don't you think?)

Friday morning we got up early and got ready and went and picked up her almost mother-in-law and headed to her appointment for a wedding dress.  This was such a cute little boutique and they had so many beautiful dresses.  It was so fun watching her trying them on and getting everyone's opinion.  1 bridesmaid, 2 friends and the mother-in-law and me were the only ones in the shop.  We laughed and talked and critiqued each dress.  The attendant did a wonderful job of listening and bringing out the most beautiful dresses.

It was about the 7th dress or so when she walked out of the dressing room and said, "This is it.  This is the one!!"  And she was right.  It was absolutely beautiful and just what she had been describing.  Nothing quite like seeing your daughter so happy and looking like a princess!  Of course, I won't show her in her dress, but I'll show a couple of pictures that were taken at the appointment.

This is the cute little viewing room.

Bridesmaid and Bride (the other bridesmaids are all out-of-state)

Friends and Bride

When we left we all went to lunch and this was our view.  St. Pete, FL

What a wonderful time we had and I'm so thankful I got to fly in for 3 days and be there for this!  Next stop, wedding in March.

Television

Hello and welcome to Tuesday 4 where we give you 4 questions to answer each week. Tuesday 4 was begun by our friend Toni Taddeo and kept up in honor of her memory.

1.Fall is usually the time that new series appear on TV. If you could make a show that you would really enjoy what kind and what subject would you like to see?  I would love to see an old fashioned entertainment show.  Something like the old Andy Williams, Carol Burnett, Donnie and Marie Shows.  With guest singing and acting artists performing.

2.  You have a rare opportunity this fall: you can step into a movie, TV program or book and live out a week there, which would it be and why?  NCIS because I would like to spend some time in Washington DC and I would also like to help solve a crime with them.

3.Are you decorating outside for autumn? What are you doing? Is it HGTV worthy?  I'll put out some pumpkins and I have a fall flag and may also put out a mum or too.  No definitely not HGTV worthy, but I'll enjoy it.

4.   What's on TV this week you really are going to enjoy?  I have not idea, but we are binging some old series that we like.  Just started Unforgettable last night and we are currently watching Star Trek, the Next Generation and also Star Trek, Voyager and we are also watching Rizoli and Isles and an Australian Navy show called Sea Patrol.  So I'm sure we will be watching a couple of these most nights.

Thanks for visiting.

Friday Photos

There are a few peacocks at a farm close to us.  This one was fairly close to the road so hubby stopped in the road and grabbed a picture.

Baby hat made this week

Found this child's hat in the closet.  It was all completed except closing up the top.  Did that this week and then started another hat last night.

My favorite little king!

Beautiful skies last night.

The neighbor's sunflowers.

These are a few pictures from my week.  Hope you enjoy.

Thankful Thursday

Click button above to link up.

I'm thankful for:

**Time to do some reading.  Just finished a romance book that took place in Sugarcreek, Ohio which is a place I've been to many times.  Really loved it!

**The beautiful skies we've had lately

**Lucy got groomed, which she really needed.  Plus look at those pretty skies in the window..

**Also hubby and I watched a very interesting documentary the other night on Antartica.  Talk about beautiful skies.  They have lights there like the Northern lights.  So beautiful.

**God has made such beautiful nature for us because He loves us.  Isn't that just awesome?

What are you thankful for?

Wednesday Hodgepodge

From this Side of the Pond

1. The Hodgepodge lands on the second day of a brand new month. Tell us one thing you're looking forward to in September.  Visiting my daughter in Florida and going wedding dress shopping.  Not so much the flight to get there as I haven't flown in about 15 years or so and never by myself.  lol

2. Do you enjoy browsing second-hand shops?  Yes, sometimes, although typically, I'm not much of a shopper at all.  . Last thing you bought or 'inherited' second hand?  Books, from the Used Book Store.  Plus most of my furniture was given to us and some was made by my dad (which I totally love).

3. Something you had second thoughts about after committing to, purchasing, or posting/commenting  online?  How about every time we buy a new vehicle.  For a day or so afterward I always wonder if we got a good deal.  But then I get over it and just enjoy it.

4. What's a product or service you use that you'd rate as second to none? My mechanic.  He is awesome and always works us in and takes care of us.  We've even been on vacation out of state and called him about a problem and he does his best to diagnose from what hubby tells him and he's almost always been right.  Gives us an idea of what to expect when we've had to use a mechanic from out of town.  If you live in my area, I would definitely give you his name and number.

5. Something you do so often or that comes so naturally to you it's second nature?  Play the old hymns on the piano.

6. Insert your own random thought here.My philosophy!
