Thankful Thursday


Today is Thankful Thursday and I'm joining up with "Knit by God's Hand".  I'm so glad Rebecca Jo does this every week.  It helps remind me to remember to be thankful.  Sometimes I really need that reminder.  Why don't you join in with us.  Make your list on your blog and then link up here.

Here's a couple of the things I'm thankful for (not in any particular order).

**We have our mowers back.  I cannot tell you how thankful I am about that.  They've been in the shop for about 5-6 weeks.  Kerri came and mowed the first couple of weeks, but our grass was getting so long.  Up until last night it had been almost 3 weeks since the grass had been mowed.  I did it last night and while it still looks a bit rough, it does look better.  I mowed it really high, hoping I won't have to rake.  I'll mow it again, just as soon as I get the time in the next few days (I hope!).

**My dad's wallet was found.  Last Friday mom and dad found out that dad's wallet was missing.  They didn't know if he had misplaced it or if someone at the senior center had taken it.  Well, yesterday they called and said dad's wallet had been found in the laundry room.  I guess he forgot to take it out of his pants when he put them in the laundry.  Thank you Jesus.  Everything was still in the wallet.

**Netflix - I love Netflix.  We've been watching some old TV series and I've really been enjoying it.

**I'm thankful for this little monster too.  Just because she makes me smile all the time.

Wednesday Hodgepodge



1.  Did you do anything 'memorable' this past weekend?
Hubby and I took a drive along the Ohio River. We went from home in Ohio, crossed the river into Kentucky, then drove a scenic route beside the river to Madison, Indiana. We are lunch and then drove back to Ohio and home. Unfortunately it rained most of the time, so I don't have pictures. But it was so nice to get away alone for a few hours.
 

2. Ronald Reagan is quoted as saying-

"Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same."  

Your thoughts? Do you somehow acknowledge and appreciate the freedoms you enjoy? Did your upbringing contribute to that sense of appreciation? If you're a parent, are there specific things you do to pass on this sense of responsibility and appreciation to your own children in regard to the freedoms they enjoy?
I agree.  We have always taught our children to appreciate our country and also the men and women who have insured our continued freedom.

3. Loudest noise you've ever heard?
I have no idea. But probably my big mouth! lol

4. What was the last thing you ate that might be considered 'junk food'? Did you enjoy it?
A cupcake from the grocery's bakery. Yes, I did.

5. When was the last time you were somewhere the crowd felt 'packed in like sardines'?
In February when we went to Dixie Stampede. It was pretty crowded waiting in line to get in.

6. Are you organized when it comes to packing for a trip? Do you make a list weeks in advance or toss items in last minute? Are you a carry-on only sort of packer or do you need an entire suitcase for your shoes?
Sometimes I am. Hubby makes lists and we do kinda follow them. But mostly I am a last minute packer. However I do make sure I have everything on the list. It depends on where we're going as to how much I pack.

7. What was the last sporting event you attended in person? Did your team win? Did you care?
Probably a basketball or volleyball game of my girls. I don't remember who won.

Life is rather rough right now, but we are surviving. I just haven't had a lot of inclination to blog. I have been reading a lot of your blogs, but not commenting a whole lot. Maybe after this weekend I'll have more time and desire to blog more regularly. Thank you to those who have shown concern and I appreciate all your prayers.

Thankful Thursday

Things I'm thankful for this week, in no particular order:

**Beautiful weather--so much sunshine makes me happy.

**My rotten little Lucy--she makes me smile all the time.

How could I not love this little face?

**Mom and Dad--they called and wanted to go to church with us last night.  So glad they were feeling pretty good.

**Kerri and Charlie--we get to have lunch with them today and then she's going to go mow our lawn (we're still waiting to get our mowers back from the shop).

**Mothers--hubby and I are both blessed to still have our mothers with us.

**Fathers--hubby and I are blessed to both have our fathers too.

**Date night--hubby and I had dinner out Monday and also got to listen to some great, live bluegrass music...so much fun.
