If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

This or That

This or That

A little old school blogging fun today.  I copied this from Seaside Simplicity's post on Thursday and am answering them here.

1. Morning or Night - I used to be a night person as I worked 2nd shift for many years.  But for the last 15 years or so I've been on Dayshift and I am definitely more of a morning person.

2. Coffee or Tea - Neither.  I'll take a Diet Coke.

3. Text or Call - I prefer calling most of the time.  I'm not very good at texting.

4. Small town or Big city - Small town

5. Beer or Wine - Neither.  Again, I'll take a Diet Coke.

6. Messy or Tidy - Very tidy in my office at work, but messy in the privacy of my home.  Hoping that will change when I retire and have more time at home.

7. Introvert or Extrovert - I'm somewhere in between.

8. Cats or Dogs - Dogs

9. English or Math - English

10. Sweet or Savory - Sweet, then savory and then sweet and then savory.  lol

11. Beach or Mountains - Beach

12. Predictability or Excitement - Predictability, I think.  Although, I like excitement sometimes too.

13. Time machine or Magic wand - Magic wand, so I can take care of the messy at home.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great weekend!

Questions?????

Photo from Internet?
How do you respond to comments on your blog?  Do you respond to every comment?  Do you respond on your own blog?  Do you respond by e-mail?  Do you go to their blog and comment on one of their posts instead of responding to what they said on yours?

Personally, I do a bit of all those above.  Just curious to see how you all do what you do and wondering if I need to change how I do it.

Thanks for any answers.

New Things I Have Started

Photo from Internet

I bought this book for myself just before Christmas. In fact, I bought one for both girls too.  It's called Q & A a day and it's a five year journal. Each paged is divided into 5 parts and at the top there is a question. You answer the question in the first section and then go to the next page the next day and so on. Then the next year you do the same in the second spot. Below is a photo of the inside.

Photo from Internet

I'm really enjoying the questions so far and I think it will be really fun next year to see what I wrote this year and to see how things have changed in a year.  I don't know if the girls are using theirs or not, but I'm having fun.

Another fun thing I'm having fun with is something Rebecca at Knit by God's Hand has been doing and has talked about on her blog.  It's called a Sentence a Day. Each night before I go to bed I write down one sentence about my day. I've always wanted to keep a diary or journal but could never stick with it because I couldn't think of anything to say. So far a sentence seems pretty easy.

I really think this will help me remember my year better. I've never had a good memory and it seems it's getting even worse as I get older. Rebecca posts hers at the end of each month on her blog and I really enjoy reading about her life. I don't know if I'll post mine or not, but I know I'll enjoy reading it myself. And who knows maybe my husband or kids will want to read it someday.

Is there anything new you are doing this year?  Do tell.

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

I was nominated by the Rebecca Jo over at Knit by God's Hand for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award.
Thank you Rebecca, you are so sweet.  Hey and if you haven't visited her, click on the link above and stop by her blog.  I promise, you won't be sorry.  She's a great blogging buddy.

How this works is you give a shout out to the girls that nominated you, answer some questions, then nominate 5-10 other bloggers to do the same, make up your own questions to give to them...make sure you include the logo in your blog!

1. Android or iPhone user?
iPhone
2. Whose your celebrity best friend? The person you KNOW you'd be best friends with if you knew them personally?
Carol Burnett
3. What's your favorite workout?
Walking.  That's about the only workout I do any more.
4. How did you get the name for your blog?
Tales of the TCKK Family...my blog started as stories about my family.  The TCKK park is the first initial of each of us.  T for my husband, I'm C and both of my girls are K's.
5. If you could meet one blogger, who would it be?
I'd like to meet you all, but I'll choose Rebecca (and no I'm not trying to kiss up).  I just feel like we have so much in common.
6. Are you more a Halloween person or a Christmas person?
Christmas, definitely!!
7. Do you have any pets? Give me names, pics & details! Furbabies need attention too
A dog, Lucy who is half Lhasa Apso and half Yorkie.  If you've read my blog very much, then you've seen tons of pictures of her.  But here you go.

8. What do you think of Donald Trump running for President?
I don't know.  He says some interesting things, but I haven't decided yet.
9. What's your favorite Blog Link up you participate in?
I enjoy all of the ones I participate in, but my favorite is the Wednesday Hodgepodge.
10. What's your favorite Disney princess/character? (you don't get extra bonus points if you say Belle... we already know I AM Belle, so no playing favorites) ;)
Dory from Nemo.

I was also nominated by Stacy at I Carried a Watermelon.  Another fun blogger you need to check out. And here are Stacy's questions.

1.  Summer is coming to an end.  Are you a fan of Fall and all things pumpkin?  What are you looking forward to during the season of orange?
I do like fall and some things pumpkin, like pumpkin pie and pumpkin rolls.  Cooler temperatures and beautiful fall colors.
2.  What is your favorite type of music to listen to?  Do you have a favorite song?
Southern Gospel Music and I like so many that I don't really have a favorite.
3.  Everyone seems to be leaving the question about the name of your blog so, how did you decide on the name of your blog?
See above
4.  How did you come to blogging?  Tell us your blogging history….how long you’ve been at it? is this the only blog you’ve had?

I might change some of the things and choices I made in raising our girls.  But I'm so proud of who they are today, so we must have done something right.
8.  If money were no object, what is the first thing you would do?
Retire and travel.  See #6
9.  What inspires you?
Jesus Christ
10.  Do you have a celebrity crush….or at least think someone is pretty darn cute?
No crush, but I do think Nathan Fillion who plays Castle is really cute.

Picture from Internet

Thank you Rebecca and Stacy.  This has been fun!

I have a tendency not to play fair when it comes to things. I don't really like to pick someone in particular because some people do not like to play along.  So I nominate anyone who reads this post and would like to play along.  You know I love all of my followers and each one of them is worth checking out and reading. If you decide to play along, let me know and I'll list you below and make a link to your post.

Here are your questions.  I'll use some of Rebecca's and some of Stacy's and then maybe make a couple of my own.

1. Android or iPhone user?
2. Whose your celebrity best friend? The person you KNOW you'd be best friends with if you knew them personally?
3.  Summer is coming to an end.  Are you a fan of Fall and all things pumpkin?  What are you looking forward to during the season of orange?
4.  How did you get the name for your blog?
5. If you could meet one blogger, who would it be?
6. Are you more a Halloween person or a Christmas person?
7.  Looking back at your life is there anything you wish you could have done differently?
8.  If money were no object, what is the first thing you would do?
9.  What is your favorite all time movie:
10. If you could travel anywhere you wanted for a month long vacation, where would you go?

Please play if you'd like.  Have fun!!!!!

Anniversary Trip

Hubby and I have been planning a trip to Pigeon Forge, TN ever since our November trip to Myrtle Beach was cut short by 2 weeks.  We were never really sure if we'd be able to actually go in February or not, due to the continued health issues of both of my parents.  However about 2 or 3 weeks ago, we made reservations and hoped for the best.

On Sunday afternoon, the weather reports for Monday between Ohio and Tennessee were really bad.  It was supposed to start about 4am on Monday.  We couldn't drop Lucy off at the kennel until 8am Monday and we knew we'd be driving in some really horrible weather if we left then.  We had just about decided we would have to cancel.  Hubby called the kennel to cancel and while talking to them, they agreed to take Lucy on Sunday night (which they normally do not do).  So we quickly finished packing, dropped Lucy off at the kennel on the way to church.  After church, we took my dad back home and we left town around 7:15pm in perfect driving weather.

We arrived at our hotel around 12:15-12:30AM.  Now our reservation didn't start until Monday, but our room was ready and we were able to move right in and unpack and not have to change rooms on Monday.  It just felt like to us, that God was working everything out and we were totally thrilled to be there.

On Monday, we had breakfast at our hotel and then took a drive to check things out.  We did a little shopping and had lunch and then headed back to the hotel.  It was sleeting pretty bad and things were getting a little slippery.  Plus pretty much everything was closing down due to the weather predictions.  We took a nap and relaxed in the room for awhile then headed out to see if we could find anything open.  Parking lots were pretty bad, but the road stayed fairly clear.  We found a Subway connected to a gas station that was open, so we picked up sandwiches and headed back to our room for the night.

This is our Mickey antenna topper which will give you an idea of the ice situation we were in.  lol

Most stores and restaurants were closed from Monday afternoon until Friday after lunch.  We were always able to find some place to eat, but there wasn't much else to do.  We took a drive each day (as I said the roads stayed fairly good).  I think the main reason everything was closed was because the employees couldn't make it into work because the roads where they live weren't passable.

Here's a picture of the roads as it was sleeting in Pigeon Forge

And this is in Gatlinburg.  No one much driving, but a lot of people out walking.  Still not much of anything opened.
On Wednesday (which was our 26th Wedding Anniversary), hubby and I went to Dixie Stampede.  We had bought our tickets on Monday and were afraid they might not open.  I called in the afternoon and they said yes they would be having the show that evening.  I'm so glad, because we had gone here on our honeymoon and it was fun being able to celebrate our anniversary there.  We had such a great time and enjoyed the show.

We seldom ever buy the picture they always take when you walk in.

However, this time we did.  It's not too bad I guess.
However, I like the one we took in the show area ourselves better.  lol
So while we didn't get to do a lot of the things we thought we would, we really enjoyed our time together, with no pressure.  Hubby spent a lot of time reading and I spent a lot of time knitting and watching Gilmore Girls on my iPad.  We took some naps and did a lot of driving around and looking at what was around the area.  We never really got to go up into the mountains, but that's ok.  They'll be there the next time we go.

Below are some of the things I made while on this trip.  See I really did get a lot of knitting done.  lol
A headband/earwarmer for me

A child's hat that still needs the pompom

A girl child's hat
An adult hat, that I think I will probably add a pompom to,
We arrived back home on Friday and this is how Miss Lucy spent Friday night.  I think was was work out from a week at the kennel, plus she wanted to make sure we wouldn't leave here again.  haha

Laying in the recliner with mommy
Snow hit here on Saturday again and man is there a lot of it!  But I'm thankful, God allowed us this time together to rest, relax and enjoy being together.

Today's Fun - My Thoughts on the Movie Added

Kelli and I are at the theater early this morning.

We are here to see "Into the Woods."

Hope it will be good!  Let you know later.

Have a great day everyone.

I thought the movie was pretty good although it's a little darker than I really prefer. Overall I'd give it a B. I thought Meryl Streep was awesome as usual. And the music was good. That being said I would have preferred a different ending. I don't want to say how I wish it would have ended differently because I don't wish to ruin it for anyone else.

iPad vs Laptop for Blog Posting?

Which do you use for blog posting...a laptop or iPad?  I tried posting the Hodgepodge yesterday on my new iPad.  I finally got it posted, but it wasn't easy and I never could figure out how to link it to Joyce's page.  I finally did that this morning on the computer.

I was really hoping I could use the iPad and maybe get rid of my laptop.  But unless someone can help me out with the linking issue, I guess I'll have to keep the laptop.  Sorry Kelli, I know you'd like to have it.

For just a regular post, I think the iPad would be fine and I could really get to like it.  I guess I need to just play with it some more.  Maybe I'll get it figured out.  Anyway, I really do like my iPad and am enjoying not having to get the laptop out so much.

So, which do you use?  And do you have any hints for me on the iPad?

Summer Bucket List Check-Up

How's the Summer Bucket List coming along? I posted my list on May 29th and this is where I stand as of this past weekend.

1. I want to read several books.  I've read one book, started another and have listened to 2 audio books.  I think that's a pretty good start.
2. I want to finish re-doing our bathroom.
3. I want to wash all the windows in our house.
4. I want to clean the garage and get rid of a bunch of stuff.
5. I hope to find at least 25 more Geocache's. Searched for 2 on Saturday, but only found one.
6. I hope to go on several picnics.  That little restaurant I told about yesterday..we ate outside on picnic tables, so that counts and that makes 1 so far.
7. I hope to go stargazing at least once or twice this summer.
8. We're hoping to buy a new van.
9. I want to make reservations and plan a November vacation. Disney or Myrtle Beach...we'll find out. No reservations yet, but a decision has been made - 3 weeks at Myrtle Beach.  Dates picked, vacation time approved at work.  Good start.
10. I also want to start and complete the new Beth Moore Bible Study, Children of the Light. I have started this, but to be honest, I'm kinda behind.  But I'll get it, I hope.

So all in all, not a bad start.  At least for the fun things.  Now I need to get started on some of those chores.

How about you, how is your Summer Bucket List going?

Friday Fragments

Half-Past Kissin' Time
Click the Friday Fragments button above to join in the fun.

*Back in November while we were in South Carolina, I did something I have wanted to do for years.  I got a 2nd piercing in my ears.  I love dangly earrings and I love posts and this way I can wear both.  Most people haven't even noticed because normally, my hair covers my ears.  But I notice and I really like it and I'm so glad I did something just for me.

*Anyway, since having it done, I've purchased quite a few inexpensive post earrings and I needed a way to keep them organized and quickly and easily accessible.  So Saturday I went to Hobby Lobby and purchased a couple squares of foam in the material department.  They are about an inch thick and are 14" x 14" squares.  They fit almost perfectly in the top drawer of my chest.  I stick the posts into the foam and it keeps them in place and the dangles just lay on top.  The backs to the earrings are in a plastic dish which keeps them all together.  Talk about easy and convenient.  I love it!  :)

Survivor:  The new season of Survivor started Wednesday night. Survivor Cagayan:  Brains, Brawn, Beauty.  Is anyone else watching?

Have a great weekend, Everyone!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What's the biggest change since your childhood in the way people think or act?
I think people are more into "what's in it for me".

2. The Olympic Biathlon involves cross country skiing broken up with either two or four rounds of target shooting. Which part of that would stress you out more? Or would you love them both equally?
Both would stress me since I've never done either.  But I think I'd like target shooting more.

3. February is National Canned Food Month...what is your most often purchased canned food item? What was in the last can you opened?
Soup and I just had chicken noodle soup the last two days as I've been sick and that is a go to staple since I was a child and we were sick.

4. What river (anywhere in the world) would you most like to cruise?
The Mississippi

5. It's the middle of the night and you can't sleep...what do you do? Count sheep? Toss and turn? Watch television? Or do you get up and do something productive?
I read.
6. How important is keeping your cool?
I think it's very important, but I'm not necessarily very good at it.  It's something the Lord and I are working on.

7. I've got white stuff on the brain so why not run with it? White lie, wave the white flag, white knuckle it, white wash a situation, or white as a sheet...which phrase could most recently apply to your own life in some way?
Maybe wave the white flag...see #6.  Sometimes I need to do this to keep my cool.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I've been sick since Sunday night and Monday was a holiday off work.  No fair!  haha  Oh well, it's back to work today.  I'm not fully recovered, but getting there and now hubby has what I had. Let me tell you this.  That is no way to spend your 25th wedding anniversary.  Yep, yesterday, hubby and I were married 25 years.  It's been the best years of my life.  I love that man more and more every day.  So hopefully, by the weekend we'll both feel like going out and celebrating.  But sick or not, I'd rather spend my time with him than anyone I know.

Happy Anniversary Sweetheart!

Etsy - Questions

I'm considering opening an Etsy Shop. I'm doing a lot of crocheting and thinking about trying to sell some small items I'm making.

Do any of you shop on Etsy or do you have a shop? I'd really like to know your opinions of Etsy.

Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea
Click the above button to join in with the Friday Fragments Fun at Half-Past Kissin' Time.

Started a new afghan this week. I haven't done a granny square in a long, long time. So I got on Youtube and watched an instructional video for just a simple square. It's going to be a baby afghan. However, I'm just making one big square and will alternate colors as I go. I only have a light blue yarn on hand, so this will be the center. Hoping to get out this weekend and buy a couple other colors and really get going on this afghan. Planning to take it on our trip next week to work on when we're relaxing in the evening or whenever.

Speaking of trips, we leave for Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge next week. I am so looking forward to time away with my hubby to just relax and enjoy. No real special plans, just to be together like we were before kids. This will be our first trip for just the two of us in over 16 years.

Lily seems to be all recovered from her ailments. I haven't seen her limp all week and the other issues seem cleared up too.

Monday is our 24th anniversary. I cannot believe we've been married that long. It seems like forever, but then it also seems like just yesterday. I love the life I have with my man!

Photo Questions??

I wanted to do my Post-It Note blog post today, but they are added as photos. Blogger is telling me I have used all my space in Picasa and need to now purchase space in order to add any more photos.

My questions are:

1. Has this happened to you and what did you do?

2. Is there anyway around it, without having to pay monthly for space?

3. Is Picasa the only way to put photos on Blogger?

Thank you for your help in answering these questions for me.

Four Years

How long have you been blogging? I just celebrated my 4th blogoversary Thursday, September 13th. Who knew that 4 years ago when my friend talked me into starting a blog that I'd still be plugging away at it today. There have been times I've blogged a lot and there have been times when I haven't had much to say. But even in the slow times, I'm glad I've stuck it out. I've met so many interesting and wonderful people out here in the blogging world. So Lord willing, 4 years from now I'll still be here and celebrating 8 years of blogging!

Have a great day!

Is it Hot or What!!!

It seems a lot of you are posting your weather forecast for the weekend. Here is ours according to a local Cincinnati channel. It's going to be hotter than I thought, but it seems ours is not as bad as some of you are having. All I can say is WOW and thank you Lord for sweet air conditioning.

How's the weather where you are?

This and That Thursday

Just sharing some things that have occurred this last week that I actually got my camera out for.  I haven't been taking many pictures lately, but I'm trying to start to take some more now.  So anyway, here's some this and that.

The girls got free passes to go see the new 3D version of Beauty and the Beast and while they were there this is what we did.  Had breakfast in McDonald's and played on our Kindle Fires.  I think we all had fun.

This is the little theater they went to.  Isn't it cute?

I thought this building looked neat.  It was close to the theater.  You see we also had to wait in the car for a bit when we left McDonalds.

This is the town where we went.  It is such a neat looking city.

This is my new Vera Bradley.

It snowed today and I ran outside at work to get a picture.  This is my kind of snow.  Sticks to the trees and grass, but not the streets and sidewalks.

I took this picture through the windshield while driving.  I was at a red light.
And that is the end of my Thursday full of this and that.  Hope you enjoyed.
