If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Do you know much about (or understand) Artificial Intelligence (AI)? Does it worry or excite you? Hubby was just telling me about some of the AI stuff coming up and he also showed me some examples he's done with pictures in AI.  I think it's exciting on the surface, but it does worry me a bit too.

2. What was the last song you listened to? Your favorite movie soundtrack? What song always puts you in a good mood? The last song I listened to was me singing The Lord's Prayer while walking the dog this morning.  Favorite movie soundtrack would probably be "The Sound of Music" or "The Music Man."

3. What were you doing ten years ago? I went back to my blog history and it appears that:
  • Kelli had just finished her Junior year of college and was in Wyoming for an internship
  • Kerri had moved out, and was with her boyfriend
  • Traci and I were empty nesters, sort of:  Caroline and her baby, Carina were living with us.
  • I was still working although I attended a class about retirement.  I worked for another 9 years though.
4. Your favorite no-bake summer dessert? Ice Cream

5. Something you're looking forward to in June? Hopefully lots of beautiful weather and maybe a couple of day trips.

6. Insert your own random thought here. I just ordered a new Bible Study that I plan on doing by myself starting tomorrow.

If you would like to link up with Joyce, click the button at the top of this post.  Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day!

Tuesday 4 - Beddy Bye

Beddy Bye

It might be nice to talk about our homes and how we like our rooms to be ordered and used.  What about the bedroom.. a place of comfort and peace.

1. How do you make up your bedroom and bed... colors? blankets? Quilts? Bedspread? Comforter? Throws? Pillow? what goes into making your bed comfy for you?   Honestly, we do not sleep in our bedroom any more.  I sleep in a recliner in our living room and hubby sleeps in his chair.  I have not been able to sleep in a bed in comfort since I had my surgery in 2016.

2. What is in your dresser? Is it organized or messy? Right now it's rather messy.  I'm overdue to straighten it all out again.  The top drawer is where my jewelry is, 2nd is underclothes, 3rd is socks, 4th is sweats, shorts etc. and the last is a junk drawer of things I'm not quite ready to get rid of.  lol

3. What's in and on your night stand?  Do not use a night stand, but an end table since I sleep in a recliner.  At bedtime, I put my water glass, Kindle, iPad and my sleep apnea machine is on the bottom shelf and I always have a fan there also.

4. Do you read in bed or watch TV before going to sleep?  We do not sleep with the TV on ever.  We made the decision to not have a TV in our bedroom ever when we first married.  Sometimes I read or look at social media.  Although, social media is pretty distracting and I end up staying up later than I like.  Much better if I'm not quite ready to sleep to read instead.

Thank you Annie for these questions.  If you'd like to link up, you can click here.

Bits of This and That - Memorial Day 2023

It's a beautiful morning on this Memorial Day Monday.  It's 59 degrees and partly cloudy right now at 7:38am.  Hubby and I are trying to ease into the day and just enjoy being together.  No real plans for the day yet.  I know we're going to head into town in a bit and either watch the parade or head out to the church (which is on a hill at the edge of town) to try to catch the planes that fly over the parade.  He thinks we could maybe see them better from up there.  When you're right downtown some of the buildings block the view partially.  Here's a picture from last year.

Then we'll grab a bite of lunch and I need to run into the store and get a couple of things.  I've got eggs on to boil right now to make some deviled eggs and I think we'll have hamburgers or hotdogs and maybe some baked beans for dinner.  We missed the National Memorial Day show on PBS last night, but have found it on YouTube and we plan to watch it tonight.  We try to see it every year.  So that's our plans so far for the day.  What are you doing?

Below is yesterday's sermon from the current series hubby is preaching.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Click above if you'd like to link up with the Hodgepodge.

1. May 24th is National Brother's Day. Do you have a brother? Older or younger? Did you raise brothers? Tell us something about your brother or tell us something about your own children who are brothers. Yes, I have 2 brothers, 1 is the oldest sibling and 1 is the youngest sibling.  They are like the bookends to us 3 girls in the middle.  My older brother, Larry passed away in 2014.  He was a pretty awesome guy.  He traveled lots and he was adventurous.  He walked over half of the Appalachian Trail a couple years before he died.  My youngest brother, Jeff is pretty awesome too.  He is married and has 2 sons (the younger one is the groom in the photos from Monday's post).  They both have incredible talents for building and remodeling homes.  They both have really great voices too.  While my oldest brother did not sing publicly, the younger does and he's pretty amazing.  In case you can't tell, I really love my brothers!
Larry is in cap and gown in 1969, he was 17
and entered college that fall and Jeff in front of
mom entered 1st grade that year.  They were 12 years
 apart in age.

2. A great book you've read or movie you enjoy that features brothers?  How about the Sound of Music.  There were some brothers in the family.

3. Something you think is overrated? Target  Something you think is underrated?  Walmart

4. How much does your past shape you? I think it plays a big part in who I am.  What parts have shaped you the most? I think the fact that I was raised in a Christian home had a big impact on my life and my spiritual life.

5. What's your favorite simple pleasure? I know I say this all the time, but just being with my husband is the best to me.

6. Insert your own random thought here.  You know, I think if we would all do what this verse below says, we'd be so much better off.
This is from the story of Jesus' first earthly miracle.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day

Bits of This and That

Hubby and I went out to lunch at Texas Roadhouse on Friday.  Our oldest gave me a gift card for there and we had a wonderful lunch made all the more wonderful because she got it for us. I then ran a couple of errands and we were home for the rest of the day.  On Saturday we went out for maybe an hour or so and then we spent the rest of the day at home.

I did quite a bit of reading this weekend.  I finished a book Friday, started another and finished it on Saturday and I'm over halfway through another and hope to finish it today.  These 3 books are the last 3 in the Kennedy Stern series by Alana Terry.  I have enjoyed reading them and may check into reading another one of her series soon,

Sunday, we had a great morning service (I'll post the pre-recorded sermon below) and then we picked up some lunch and headed home.  Then later in the afternoon I headed over to my sister's and the 3 of us went to our nephew's wedding.  It was outside in a beautiful area and the weather was gorgeous.  However, out in the sun it was pretty hot.  However the reception was under cover and wasn't terribly hot.  It was a beautiful wedding and my nephew and his new wife looked so very happy.  My brother and sister-in-law looked happy too.  It is so good to see them, as they are so very busy and it's hard to get together sometimes.  Here are a couple of photos I took during the reception.

Here's Sunday's sermon which was #5 in the Big Promises for Big Problems series.  This one is God's Answer to Resentment.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great week.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Click above if you'd like to join in with Joyce for the Hodgepodge.

1. What surprises you the most about people? The entitlement feeling that so many people have.  They feel like they deserve to have the best of everything and to earn the big bucks immediately, when those before them had to climb that ladder slowly.

2. Would you rather have a chauffeur, nanny, gardener, maid, personal shopper or cook? Tell us why that one? At this moment, a gardener as I need a couple things planted and everything mulched.

3. May 18th is National Notebook Day. No idea what that means but let's run with it anyway. What's something you currently keep in a notebook? Not really a journal, but verses, sayings, thoughts are something I keep. Have you seen the movie The Notebook? Yes On a scale of 1-5 how does it rate? Probably more a 2.  I didn't dislike it, but it's nothing I want to watch over and over. (5=a favorite, can watch and re-watch and re-watch again)

4. Do you like mushrooms? Yes Last dish you made or ate that had mushrooms on the ingredient list? Stroganoff Your favorite dish that calls for mushrooms? Stroganoff, Pizza, Spaghetti.

5. What would you say is the most annoying thing people do in public? Talk too loudly on a cell phone.

6. Insert your own random thought here. I've posted these several times, but they still make me laugh.  So, here you go again!

Thanks for visiting.  Hope you have a great day!

Bits of This and That Including Tuesday 4

Hubby and I had a nice weekend.  On Saturday we went out for a quick lunch and then I took him back home and I headed out to meet with my sister, mother-in-law, and a cousin.  We went to the movies and saw Chonda Pierce's new movie called Roll With It.  All four of us loved it. There was lots of laughter and man, that girl can sing!  Here's a trailer of it.

Sunday we had a great service and then went and spent the afternoon with hubby's mom and his brother, sister-in-law and nephew.  I never even thought to take a picture.  After that we enjoyed the evening at home.  Below, I've posted hubby's pre-recorded sermon.  It's the 4th in his current series.  So just in case any of you have been listening in, I've posted it.

Yesterday, I went and had my annual mammogram and physical exam with the Nurse Practioner at my surgeon's office.  All appears well!  Thank you Jesus!  And this is my friendly public service announcement.  Don't forget your annual mammogram.  You don't want to have to go through what I had to in 2016.

And now onto Tuesday 4.

Reading

Welcome back to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4. We enjoy having you here and love reading your responses on your own blogs. I sure hope you enjoy the questions and seeing what others have to say.

Would you like to talk about books?

1.  If you had to flee this life and there was a posibility to actually live in a     place based on a story or book or movie, which would you choose and     why? Not to be boring, but I really can't think of a time that I would rather live in.  I think the last 60 years have brought so many major inventions and conveniences to our world, I can't imagine wanting to live without all that.  While there have been bad things also, there have always been bad things.  So I think I'll just stay right here.  Now, it you're talking our future, I can't wait to see heaven!

2.  What kind of story line do you just not like either in books or movies.I do not like horror stories or anything dealing with demons or the occult.

3   How many of the Great Classics have you read and/or popular book series? I really don't have any idea.  I've read Little Women, several times and the Little House Books.  I've read several of C S Lewis' books and most of the Mitford Series and also most of Karen Kingsbury's books.

4.  There are reading playlists available for various genres of literature. Do you play any music while reading? No, typically I do not listen to music when reading.

Thanks Annie for the Tuesday4 questions.  If anyone else would like to join in, click here.

Thanks for visiting.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Did you watch the coronation of King Charles III? Share some of your thoughts about that, or about the royal family in general.  No, I did not watch.  Although, I have since seen a few short videos and many pictures.  I really have not followed the royal family that much over the years.  I watched much about the death of Diana and her wedding also.  But as a whole, I've never had that much interest.  I did kind of like Queen Elizabeth, though.

2. What are you the uncrowned queen of? I've always claimed to be the Queen of our immediate family and dad is the King and our girls are the Princesses.

Our royal court.

3. In a box of chocolates which one do you usually go for? The turtles and/or the opera cream fillings.  Oh and also I love the chocolate covered cherries.

4. Something learned at your mother's knee? Maybe, the love of reading.  My mom always loved to read and in the summer she would often takes us to the library and we'd all take home many books.

5. 'Like mother, like daughter'...in what way is this saying true for you? I never used to think so, but more and more I have people tell me I look like my mom.  I take that as a compliment.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

One of my favorite pictures of my mom.

Thanks for visiting.

Bits of This and That

Good Monday Morning:

I hope all of you are doing well.  I wasn't feeling very good when I woke this morning, but I'm feeling much better now and I'm ready to get some things accomplished on this fine day.

It's really pretty out right now with sunshine and blue skies and it's currently 68 degrees here.  However, that's supposed to change around 1:00 and it looks like we may be getting some more rain and thunder and lightening.  It seems we have been having lots of rain lately; but, I must say, the grass is really green and beautiful.

When we were leaving the house this morning, hubby saw a bird peeking out from our bird house.  As soon as I tried to get a picture it flew away.  It came back and then flew away again and still no picture.  Hopefully I'll get it soon.  Also I put out our hummingbird feeders and so far I've seen 2 hummingbirds. But alas, no picture of them either. Man, I love watching those things!

On Friday, I met 2 of my cousins at a church in Middletown for a concert of Appalachian Blue Grass Music.  It was fun and we enjoyed it.  After that we went to lunch at Cracker Barrel and it was just so nice to be together and talk about everything under the sun.

Saturday night around 9:50 one of the Starlink Satellites was supposed to pass over in our area.  The sky was fairly clear, but I never did see it.  They are supposed to pass by a couple more times this week but they won't be as bright.  But if the skies are halfway clear, I'll probably be out there looking.  I have seen one before, but I wasn't prepared and didn't have my camera with me.  They are really cool to see.  It's like a string of lights in the sky and they only stay in sight for a very short time.

Sunday was nice.  We had 2 really good services.  Sunday morning hubby preached on God's Answer to Temptation.  Make sure your exit signs are still lit.  1Corinthians 10:13 says "No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it."  Below is the pre-recorded sermon.

Well, that's about it for today.  I hope you all have a really good day.

Currently

Today it's time for the May Currently Post. Actually, I'm running a little behind because I forgot about this post.  Anyway, I always say better late than never.  You can link up with Jennifer here, as she is the hostess.  This months topics are Things we are Currently loving, picturing, craving, wishing, and collecting.

Currently I am:

Loving: Having some free time coming up this week.  No appointments all week!  Yay!

Picturing:   A new baby blanket I've started crocheting.  Trying to decide if I like it the way I started or if I need to start over with a bit of a change.  However, I do love the yarn and the stitch I'm using.  I just need to decide if I need to change the size.  Picture to come in a future post when I make up my mind.

Craving:   We just finished lunch, so not too much of anything. Of course, there's always chocolate something. lol

Wishing:  I'm wishing for a small table for our front porch as I'm hoping to spend a little more time out there this year.  I've been out a couple of times already with the dog.  The hummingbird feeders are up and I love to sit on the porch and watch them come up so close to eat

Collecting:  Can't think of anything right now.  I'm trying not to do too much collecting as I'm trying to declutter instead.

That's it for today.  Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.

Bits of This and That

I've been on a bit of a break from blogging the last couple of weeks.  All is fine, but I just needed a break.  I have been reading several blog posts and even a comment here or there.  Still trying to decide what I want to do with my blog.

Latest photo of my grandson that I stole off his other grandma's FB page.  He was staying with her this past weekend.

Sure do love this young man,

Hubby and I had a nice weekend.  Saturday, we went to Walmart to pick up some needed items and then we picked up and on-line order at City Barbecue to take home for lunch.  We both got the chicken and we both got collard greens and then I got corn pudding and I can't remember what his other side item was. It was all very delicious.  After that we did some things around the house and then watched a Hallmark Mystery Movie.  We watched the 2nd movie in the Crossword Series which was pretty good.  After that we watched a couple of our shows we are binging and then tried to go to sleep early.  I don't think that worked too well for either of us.  lol

On Sunday, of course, we went to church both morning and evening and took a nice nap in the afternoon.  Again we watched a couple of shows after church and I finished reading the 4th book in the Kennedy Stern series by Alana Terry.  After that I checked out book 5 and started that in the middle of the night as again, I couldn't sleep very well.  I also read a little of Beth Moore's Memoir, All My Knotted Up Life.

Book 4 I finished

Book 5 I started

A couple chapters in.

Below is the video of the pre-recorded Sunday morning message, which is the 2nd in the series Big Promises for Big Problems...God's Answer to Fear.

Hope you all have a great day.
