If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Tuesday 4

Memorials...

Welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.

We celebrated Memorial Day on Monday... let's talk about memorials and memories.

1. Do you find memories comforting or troubling?  I would suppose it depends on the memory.  I have many good ones and some not so good ones.

2.  Have you set up a memorial for a loved one or friend? Not really, unless you consider where my parents and brother are buried.  We decorate these several times a year.

3.  What songs bring back good memories for you? The children's song, "And the Green Grass Grows All Around" reminds me of when I was little and my dad used to sing it to us in the car and then Hubby and I sang it to our girls as they were growing up and I've even had the opportunity to sing it to my grandsons.  Actually, I even remember singing it in front of my girls friends when we were in the car.  It always brought fun and laughter and I love those memories.

4.  Have you visited Civil War or Revolutionary War sites? Yes, we took a trip to Gettysburg several years back with our girls and we loved it so much.

Thank you so much for visiting and if you'd like to participate, you can link up here.

Thankful Thursday

I'm very late writing this post, but I still want to do it.  I received an email about 5:30 tonight telling me to check my MyChart account.  I did and it was the pathology report I've been waiting for.  If we're interpreting it right, all is good.  No cancer.  I should get a call from the surgeon tomorrow and then I'll know for absolute sure.  I'm choosing to believe we're reading it right.

Thank you to everyone who prayed for me.  I love that I can post here and ask you, my friends, to pray for me and you are so willing to do so.  Thank you.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. It's National Wine Day (May 25)...do you like wine? I don't know as I've never tried it. Red or white? Another unknown Dry or sweet? Another unknown Do you have a favorite? Another unknown Have you ever been to California wine country? No, I haven't. Or any other wine region? No. What's a dish you make that calls for wine? Nada

2. What's something you've whined about lately? Now whining I can do.  lol  Actually, I've been whining a little while I'm waiting for a pathology report.  It's a little nerve wracking to say the least.

3. Last time you were 'wined and dined'? Tell us about it. I've never been wined and dined, but hubby and I have had some really nice dinners out.

4. Three cheers for my wonderful grandson.

He fell off the monkey bars
and fractured his arm in 3 places.

5. This will be the last Hodgepodge in the month of May. Somehow next Wednesday the calendar rolls into June. Before we go though, sum up your May in twelve words or less. May has been interesting with some medical tests  but many beautiful days.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Kelli and Rafael were in Ohio this past weekend for a wedding and we got to spend time with them too and so did some of the extended family.  It's been 2 years since they were in Ohio.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.

Tuesday 4

Time...

Hi! Welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.  Toni has moved on to higher ground  but we keep her memory alive.  Link here.
Let's consider time....

1. When you say "in a couple of days" what time period are you thinking?  Is your time exact or fluid?   To me it is 2-3 days and that's fairly fluid.

2.Does time get away from you? How do you handle time?  Yes, time does get away from me sometimes.  Since retiring I have a tendency to just go with the flow.  Of course, that doesn't mean appointments and get-to-gathers.  Those things I try to be on time to and even a bit early.

3. People say time is short.   Then why do you do so many things you don't like and so few of the things you do like? That is a good question.  I suppose it's because they are things that really need to be done even when you don't want to.

4. Do you have enough time to do the things you want to do or live as you would like to live? Yes, pretty much.

Update:  I had my surgery on Friday and all went according to plan.  I've had very little discomfort this weekend and am doing whatever I want.  However, I'm still waiting on the pathology report.  So I still don't know anything yet.  Thank you for all your prayers.  I really believe in the power of prayer.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.

Thankful Thursday

Click here or here to link up with Thankful Thursday.

I am so thankful for my chiropractor.  We just got back from there and he was working on my neck and shoulder and also my sciatica.  I think I'm already starting to feel better,  We go every 6 weeks and it really helps.

I saw my surgeon on Tuesday in reference to a lesion on my side,  They did a biopsy on it last week and it came back as having some atypical cells.  They feel that it's probably nothing, but it could be a sarcoma from radiation which is very rare, but definitely not a good thing.  So we're not taking any chances and I'll be in surgery tomorrow to remove it.  Prayers appreciated.

I'm thankful for each of you and know I can ask you for prayers.  That means so much to me.

I'm also thankful for the beautiful flowers I've seen in the last few days.  The first 3 are from church and the second 3 are from my house.

We'll be heading out soon to have lunch with Kelli and Rafael.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 463

From this Side of the Pond

1. What's something that makes you feel stressed?
Dealing with insurance and figuring out what I need to do next with Medicare. How do you cope? I put it off for a while and then I finally just dig in and get it done.

2. What's a food you eat that evokes a memory? Fruit Loops Cereal Explain. They always remind me of my dad's mom because it was at their home in Safety Harbor, FL that I ate Fruit Loops for the first time.

3. This week's Hodgepodge lands on National Visit Your Relatives Day. Will you celebrate by visiting a relative? No, I don't think so. (Actually Kelli and her husband are flying in today as she is in a wedding this weekend and we'll see them for a few minutes, but will really get to visit on Thursday and Sunday with them) However, some of my girl cousins and I had lunch together yesterday.   If so is travel involved? For them a flight from Florida, but not for us. Geographically, who is your nearest relative (not counting those living in your own house)? My sister only lives about a mile from our home.

4. What's your most frequently used emoji? 😂Do you make more phone calls, send more emails, or mainly text to communicate with friends and family? Mostly phone calls and some texts, rarely email.

5. Tell us the story behind a favorite piece of furniture. I have several favorites and all were made by my dad.  My Livingroom end tables, a wardrobe in our bedroom, etc.  Love them all.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.

A Variety of Questions for You

Welcome  to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 and thank you so much for joining in!  Click here to link up.

Let's do a variety of questions this week, okay?

1. Did you have a favorite cartoon program or character as a young person, or even today? As a kid I loved the Jetsons and also Johnny Quest.

2.  Can you whole heartedly give people a second chance or  do you find yourself still worried about trusting them?  It depends on what happened, I suppose.

3.  Are there things/activities you'd like to add to your life or do you feel you do enough to do, ,going on etc. to keep you satisfied?  Right now I think I'm pretty satisfied with what I have.

4.  Can you live without your phone, TV, social media?  I suppose I could but I don't want to.

Thanks for the questions again Annie.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.

Bits of This and That

A few tidbits from this weekend.

On Saturday hubby and I went to Applebee's for lunch.  I had been given a gift card for there from a friend for my retirement.  Lunch was delicious.

After lunch we went to Barnes and Noble as I had been given a gift card for there also.    I bought 2 new books which is something I rarely ever do since I got my Kindle.  It was so fun to go in and just browse for a bit.  Below are the 2 books I purchased,  One takes placed in a book shop and the other in a yarn shop, which are two of my favorite things:  books and yarn.  I'm looking forward to reading them.

That's mom & me as my screensaver on my laptop.
I think mom would have loved reading these books too.

My sister bought a new smart TV last week and then didn't like it (she decided she just wanted a regular TV not a smart one.  Anyway, after she got what she preferred she sold hubby and I the new one.  So far we love it.  Of course, I have to learn how to use it now.  But that being said, I seldom watch TV when he's not watching, so mostly he'll handle all that stuff.  lol

We had great services this weekend and a great nap Sunday afternoon.  Another perfect weekend just the way I like them.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day,

Cathy

Thankful Thursday

Enter here or here to link up with Thankful Thursday.

Here are a couple of things I am very thankful for this week.

**Yesterday was my annual mammogram day.  All is good.  Since 2016, I kind of hold my breath until I get the results.  I truly try not to worry, but it's still there in the back of my mind.  I just to a bit of praying and try to leave it all in God's hands.  But I am so thankful that again this year, I am all clear.  I did have a small bump on my side and she took a biopsy, but she didn't believe it had anything to do with breast cancer.  Waiting to hear back on that.  But again, I know God has got this!

Ugly hospital gown.  Of course, I had to wear
a mask, so if I have to do that, I figure you
might as well sparkle some. Even an old lady
likes to sparkle sometimes! lol

**I saw our new tenant today and I got a couple of pictures.  They are not real clear since I used my phone.  The tenant is so cute and tiny.  Hoping I will catch more glimpses in the future.

sitting in the tree getting ready to go in

coming out

I'm planning to set a chair out in the drive and hopefully see more of this bird and I'll try to use my Kodak or hubby's Cannon to get a little clearer view.  I'm trying to stay pretty far away because I don't want to scare it away.  I'm very excited about this and planning to maybe pick up another bird house and hang it in a place that I can see from inside the house.

**I'm also thankful for my family and friends and for all of you too.  Hope you have a wonderful day.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What do you never get tired of? Spending time with my husband

 2. My mother made the best everything.  Mom was a great cook and she did beautiful swedish weaving.  She really was very creative and I would love to be able to do even half of the things she coud do.

 3. What machine or appliance in your home aggravates you the most? The vacuum Why? Because it's heavy (which aggravates my sciatica) and the cord is a pain.  However, I just bought a new Dirt Devil Stick Vacuum and it's very light and cordless and I love it so far.

 4. What are three things that brighten up your day when they happen? Wake up to sunshine, Read my Bible, Being able to not have to get up until I want too.

 5. Thursday (May 12) is National Limerick Day...write a limerick about relating to spring weather, spring blooms, or a spring event (five lines, the first two lines rhyme with the fifth line, the third and fourth lines rhyme together)
Today is sunshiny and bright
I enjoyed being out in the early light
I saw a little birdy fly out
From the door of the new birdhouse.
I hope it comes back and I can get another sight.

Tuesday 4

Book Club Questions

Welcome to another Tuesday 4 . We keep Toni Taddeo's original idea alive here with 4 questions each week.
This week let's pretend we are in a book club but you choose your favorite book to talk about....

1. What book or novel did you like the most or which do you wish to discuss? If you've been around here very long, you've probably heard me say that Lori Wick is one of my most favorite author and I read her books over and over.  I think my favorite one is Pretense.

2 If you were making a movie of your favorite book who would you cast in the parts? I have no idea.

3. Did the author of you favorite book/story write anything else? Have you read them? Yes, I have read all of them I think and several of them 2-4 times

4. If you had to create a playlist of music for the book, which songs would you choose? Again I really don't know.  It would probably be a mix of Christian music, maybe praise and worship.

Friday Photos

Here are a few photos from our staycation.

Frank Butler married Annie Oakly and when she died on
November 3, 1926 he stopped eating and passed 18 days later.

Aniie Oakley's gravesite.  Both Annie and Frank are
buried in Brock Cemetery between Greenville and Versailles, OH

Indian Lake

Indian Lake

I can't even begin to tell you the number of times we've driven past the exit on I-71 for Fort Boonesborough but we've never stopped.  This time we did.  The pictures below are of a replica of the original fort.  Unfortunately, the original is no longer there.  Just a short distance from this site is where the original one was, but it was closed this day.  Hopefully we'll get to go back some day and see that.

Well, that's a few pictures from our travels this past week.  We've eater some really good food and have seen some beautiful country both in Ohio and Kentucky.  I didn't get too many pictures as I was the one driving.  But oh the good times hubby and I have had out driving on the roads.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day and Happy Mother's Day!

***Lunch Tuesday with hubby's mom was really nice.  She is so fun to be with.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

From this Side of the Pond  Click above to link up!
1. May Day! May Day!...last time you shouted for help? Or maybe just asked? The last time I asked for help was last week when I asked my sister to help me put together my hanging baskets for in front of the house.  Actually, she did them and I helped a little bit. lol  I think they are beautiful!

2. What's something you may do this month? Planning to have another get-together with the cousins.  Looking forward to that.

3. 'April showers bring May flowers'...is this true where you live? What's blooming? What's your favorite springtime blossom? Tulips, Magnolia bush and hopefully my lilacs soon will bloom soon.  Probably the lilacs because of their fragrance.

4. What's something you learned at your mother's knee? Probably most of what I know.  I did learn to sing alto by copying her in church.  I've always loved singing alto.

5. Share a thought about motherhood. The best and hardest thing I've ever done.  I wouldn't trade it for anything.

6. Insert your own random thought here. Happy Mother's Day in Heaven Mom!

Tuesday 4

By the Sea, By the Sea, By the Beautiful Sea..

Welcome back to Toni Taddeo';s Tuesday 4 where we give you 4 questions each week to stimulate thought and conversation on the net.   If you'd like to join in, click here.  Thanks Annie for another week of questions.

This week it might be nice to talk about the seashore,

1. If you lived by the sea would you like to own a boat and what would you name it?  No, I don't think I would like to own a boat.  Now I would like to take rides on someone else's boat though.  At this stage of the game I wouldn't have the courage to learn how to operate a boat on the ocean, a lake, maybe, but not the ocean.

2. Do you enjoy beach combing? What do you especially like to find...shells? sea glass? driftwood? Yes, I absolutely love beach combing.  Right now my favorite things to seek are sharks teeth!

3.  Do you have a favorite beach or seaside resort that you enjoy? Tell us a little about it please. If the beach isn't your thing what is and where do you like to go? We usually stay at Compass Cove when we go o Myrtle Beach in November most years,  It's a little older facility but it's kept up pretty well.  And in November we can get really good winter rates for a month and we always get oceanside with a balcony and if you've been here long, you will have seen many pictures from that balcony.

4.  You are out and about at the seaside and you are so hungry. What foods are you going to try? What  about a tropical cocktail? Have one in mind? Gumbo, Shrimp, Shrimp and Grits, Crab Legs, etc. etc.  My drink of choice is Diet Coke.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you will join up with Annie on this.  The link is above

Have a great day!
