Good Morning: Welcome to the August edition of Currently! Here are the prompts for August. loving, looking forward to, scheduling, buying, and gearing up for. Click on the blue Currently above to link up with Jennifer.
Loving: watching reruns with hubby in the evening and crocheting...still working on that pink blanket.
Looking forward to: the first week of September as hubby is taking a vacation and we plan to do some day trips and hopefully his mom with come with us.
Scheduling: I need to schedule Lucy a Vet appointment as it's time to get her shots that are due and then I need to schedule her a grooming appointment.
Buying: I bought 2 skeins of yarn yesterday to make a lap blanket to donate. I love the yarn and I'm excited to get it started (but I have to finish the pink one first...lol)
Gearing up for: Ladies Fall Bible Study - we're going to do Lisa Harper's "Luke, Gut Level Compassion". Has anyone done this study? What are your thoughts.
1. What's a task you do on a regular (or semi-regular basis) that feels like it should be an Olympic event? Sweeping the floors. It feels never-ending!
2. What's in the trunk of your car right now? I don't have a trunk as I drive a van. But right now, There is an umbrella, an extra cane for hubby, a storage box that has a blanket and re-useable bags for shopping. I also have a trolley cart as hubby purchased a table for use here at church and I used the trolley to get it inside.
3. Summer foods vs. fall foods...which do you prefer?
Would you rather:
watermelon or caramel apple? watermelon
iced coffee or pumpkin spiced latte? Neither
potato salad or sweet potato casserole? both please
barbecued ribs or roast turkey? ribs
ice cream sandwich or apple pie? Ice cream sandwich, especially since I found a lower sugar one that's really good.
corn on the cob or candy corn? Corn on the cob
4. August 7th is National Lighthouse Day. Have you visited any lighthouses? I've visited several, but I don't remember ever going inside one. Do you have a favorite? Nope, no favorites, if it's a lighthouse I like it! Is a lighthouse something you seek out if you're visiting an area known for theirs? Sure, if I know we're fairly close.
5. Light at the end of the tunnel, out like a light, give the green light, a lightbulb moment, in a new light, in the limelight...of the 'light' idioms listed which applies in some way to your life lately? Explain. Out like a light as I didn't get enough sleep last night...I'm sure there will be a nap time declared and observed today! lol
6. Insert your own random thought here. I love this photo Kelli sent me of her and Colton.
Aren't they just the cutest!
Thanks for visiting and I hope you'll link in to both, Currently and the Hodgepodge.
We had a nice weekend. Mostly it's been quiet, with a few fun things interspersed throughout.
On Friday, I met two of my cousins at a concert in nearby Middletown. The Methodist Church there has free concerts by various artists on the first Friday of every month. This one was Jimmy Rogers who is a pianist and singer of honky tonk and blues. His piano playing was awesome and he had a nice voice too. After that we went to lunch at Cracker Barrel and just had a fun time talking and being together. After that, I met hubby at church and finished up some things there. Then we came home that evening and watched some TV (getting back into some of the shows we've been binging in the past year). I also finished the blanket I was making for Lucy.
Look at all those plugs (most will be going away soon when I take down the Christmas stuff) We're not quite ready to turn off the lights. lol
I think it's safe to say, she likes the blanket. A couple times when I was still working on it and had laid it aside to do something else, I caught her laying on it.
On Saturday, we woke up to some snow, which was pretty much all gone by evening. But Lucy and I went out and took about 20 minute walk in spite of the snow. Enjoyed every minute of it too.
That afternoon, we grabbed a bite from Freddy's and then spent the rest of the day at home doing laundry, reading and watching TV. Oh and I also made a pot of potato soup and I've been enjoying that the last couple days.
Sunday we had 2 great services and we had Skyline Chili for lunch and took a nap in the afternoon because neither one of us slept well Saturday night. I'll post the pre-recorded sermon below. He started a new series called "Outrageous Grace - Travelling with Jonah".
I received a picture from my daughter of Colton on his first ride on the monorail at Disney World.
I think he likes it!
I finished my 2nd book (this is the first book in the second series I mentioned in my last post) of the year this morning and I have the next downloaded from Libby and onto my Kindle ready for me to start this evening,
So that's pretty much my weekend. Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.
Hello Friends. It's time for me to be intentionally thankful again. Being thankful and remembering, acknowledging, and sharing what God has done and is doing in my life is very important for me. I also hope that it will encourage others. Here is a short list of things that come to mind this morning that I am thankful for:
Exercise - Continuing in to this 2nd week of exercising 5 times a week for 30 minutes. I think already I am feeling better at the end of 30 minutes. I've been praying some, listening to some of my daily scriptures and even singing a little bit (very quietly) while out walking around my neighborhood. Mostly, I take Lucy with me and we get some time together and plus it wears her out and she's pretty quiet for a while after because she's sleeping.
Crochet Circle - Still enjoy meeting with these ladies to crochet together and have lots of good conversation. I'm still working on the baby blanket. It's slow but it's coming along.
The Gospels - I'm still enjoying Reading the Gospels along with Annie F. Downs each day.
Prayer - I've been working on a slide-show to display on the screens at the front of the church. On the first Tuesday in July, hubby (the pastor) is starting a new Prayer Open House Program. He will be opening the church sanctuary for 2 hours on Tuesday mornings and anyone that would like to come and pray, may come. They can come for 2 hours, or 5 minutes and pray, that's all. The slide shows have some scriptures and will help us get our focus in the right place. Then in August he will be having a 31 Days of Prayer for us as a church. He will give prompts for each day so we can pray separately but as a group focused on the things the church needs to pray for. I'm so excited for these prayer times and to see what God will do in my life and the life of each one in our church.
Dentist Appointment - This morning and it's over and I'm so glad. lol
Doctor's Appointments - I think they are all done for this go around and all is good...working on a couple numbers from the lab work, thus the walking I talked about earlier. lol
New Glasses - I got my new glasses on Tuesday and I'm still adjusting some to the new stronger prescription. But their doing better.
Haircut - Finally went and got a good trim.
That's it for now...it's no longer morning, but better late than never. Link up with with Jennifer at Overflowing with Thankfulness, if you'd like to. Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.
**Another anniversary - 34 years together with my husband. I feel God blessed me so much by giving me this man. I think hubby would say the same about me. Thank you God for letting us meet each other and love each other. Again, what a blessing.
**Scripture - I am enjoying reading the 4 Gospels along with Annie F, Downs. In January we read from the NIV version and this month we are reading from the ESV version. I'm noticing things that I don't remember seeing before. I just want to know more about Jesus and where better to learn than in the Gospels.
**Ruth Series of Unexpected Grace in our Sunday morning sermons at Church. Ruth is such a short book, but it is stuffed full of good stuff.
**Reading - I have read about 11 books so far this year and I'm currently reading another good one and I have several in the wings waiting.
**Crocheting - I'm really liking crocheting again and I am so thankful for the ladies that started a group and invited me too. First of all, I'm loving getting to know them. I'm so thankful for new friends.
**Journaling/Coloring Bible - I am still enjoying this so much. This is the one I'm currently working on. I am so thankful for the grace of Jesus and I can't imagine surviving in this world without His grace.
**New Garage Door Opener - Our old opener was having problems. It only worked intermittently. Hubby called a company we have used once before. The guy came out Monday and several options were give and hubby decided we'd be better to get a new one. We've had this one for a long time and trying to fix it would have cost almost as much as just putting in a new one. You don't realize how much you use something until it isn't working any more. So thankful to have it working again and it's much quieter too.
**Revival - I'm so thankful for the revival at Asbury and the outpouring of the Spirit. It's so encouraging and I hope lives will be changed for everyone there and then that they will testify and share to all they know and that the Spirit will change many more lives through them.
That is all for today and I hope you have a great day and thanks for visiting!

Took hubby into work and I stopped in for a bit and used the computer to finish a blog post and then went to the grocery (I really didn't have anything else I needed to do) and stood in line for approximately 50 minutes to check out...Snow or ice coming later this week...but everyone seemed to take it in stride and it was rather fun standing and talking to people and watching their faces when they realized we were almost in the back of the store but we were in the checkout line. lol

** This morning about 6:30 or so I got a message from my daughter that my grandson wanted to see his Gigi on video chat. So what's a Gigi to do, but give him a call, of course. Even at 6:30am this Gigi can't miss out on seeing that face when he actually wants to talk. lol I can't believe I didn't even take a picture because he was so cute. His was wearing his Baby Yoda PJ's and had to show me it with the hood up and the sleep mask covering his eyes. So cute. I mean, you really can't start a day much better than that!

1. What are some memories you associate with spring?
Easter always brings fun memories...new dresses for us girls and also for our girls. Beautiful flowers blooming, warmer weather, spring break and knowing school would soon be out for the summer.
2. April showers bring May flowers...was that saying proven true where you live? Snapdragons, anemones, carnations, lilacs, sweet peas, tulips, lily of the valley, orchids, roses, gardenias...which one on that list is your favorite May bloom?
Yes, it's true and I have see some beautiful blooms, especially the trees and the magnolias, plus I also like the yellow dandelions. Here are some photos I've taken this spring.
3. What are your top three distractions and how do you deal with them?
FB, Instagram are probably my biggest time users, but I enjoy them and I just try not to be ridiculous about them.
4. Do you eat beef? Yummy! Yes!! In the course of a week, how often is beef on the menu? Probably at least 3-4 times in some form or other. A hamburger, steak, prime rib, or a roast beef dinner...which beef entree would you choose and yes you have to choose. Unless you're a vegan, and then you may pass. I like them all, but prime rib is probably my favorite, although I don't eat it often.
5. In what way were you creative during the month of April? Making hats and now making scrunchies (ponytail holders).
6. Insert your own random thought here. If you're wondering why I am making all of these things, my sister and I have signed up to have a table at a craft show in the fall. Also, I'm hoping this fall to re-open my Etsy shop. Plus I'm sure we'll donate hats again for Christmas.
