If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Wednesday Hodgepodge

The link is above.

1. Something you've waited for recently?  I waited for hubby to come out from his doctor's appointment.  Speaking of doctor's, I'm waiting to see the cardiologist on Thursday, to see what he's sees from the echocardiogram I had last month.

2. What's something you loved to do as a child? I loved playing on the swing set and swimming and bike riding and the hula hoop, and reading.

3. Something you learned from a grandparent?  I can't think of anything specific.  But my mom's dad was a singer and I think I learned my love of singing and hymns and southern gospel music from him and my mom and dad too.  My dad's dad also sang and he was a preacher and I know all of my grandparents showed me Jesus in their lives.

4. The most visited cities in the world last year (according to this site) were-Bangkok, Paris, London, Dubai, and Singapore. Have you been to any of the cities mentioned? Which would you most like to see? How do you feel about international travel in general these days? I have not been to any of these cities.  I really no longer have any desire to travel outside the states.  There are still so many places here I'd love to see.

5. February is the perfect month to celebrate 35 years of marriage, which for us is February 18

6. Insert your own random thought here.

The above quote is something hubby often reminds us of.  It really helps when God doesn't answer my prayers the way I want or when we have problems and sickness, etc.  I just remember this and it helps me to let go of what I think things should be and just step down and let God be God and do it His way.  Life is so much better that way.  Hubby also reminds us along with this that we should strip that big red "S" off our chest, because we are not Superman and just trust God!

Thanks for visiting.

Friday Photos

Here are several photographs I've taken this week on our trip.

This morning prior to sunrise. See the moon at the top of the photo.  This photo does not do it justice.  It's just so beautiful and I feel so blessed that I woke up in time to see it.

Another pre-sunrise photo

The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
His mercies never cease.
Great is his faithfulness;
His mercies begin afresh each morning.

Lamentations 3:22-23 NLT

I hope you enjoyed some of my pictures and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Bits of This and That

Good morning!  I'm getting ready to head out to the beach in a few minutes, but thought I'd stop in here first and say hello.  Hubby and I have had a great weekend here in Myrtle Beach.  We've mostly been very laid back which pleases both of us.  We actually intend to spend our whole time here at a really slow place.  I've been crocheting some (finally finished my lap blanket)  I've been down to the beach all but one day.  It was pretty cold that day and besides I was trying to recuperate from our drive down.  We're watching Christmas movies in the evening and sitting out on the balcony during the day and evenings enjoying the beach and skies.  Also, taking short naps whenever we want.  I'd say that is about a perfect vacation.  Here are a few pictures...WARNING lots of pictures!  lol

Beautiful evening skies in these 2 pictures.  Couldn't resist
taking the one above with a plane coming in.

Here's the completed lap blanket

Someone setting off fireworks

American Heart Association annual horse ride on the beach

These are both the same bird at a marsh nature
park not too far away.

Love this butterfly...this bush had many
butterflies around it

Saw these 2 flying over the beach the other day

Love this beach

Well, now I'm heading out to the beach.  Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day!

Thankful Thursday

This week I am thankful for a day trip we took last Friday.  Hubby, his Mom and I went top Holmes County, Ohio where there are several communities of Amish.  We had so much fun just sightseeing and we had a really good lunch, lots of good conversation, and we did some shopping too.  It was a beautiful day and we just love to be together.  As I was driving, hubby took my camera and got some photos for me.  Below are a few.

We saw some of the most beautiful horse in fields and pulling buggies

Gorgeous rolling hills

Quaint towns

Love seeing the laundry.  I love how they did
this laundry line with a pulley system.

Here's the same one from a different angle.

God is so good and He kept us safe driving around all day.  This is probably 3-4 hours away from us.

Link up here or here if you'd like to participate.

Wednesday Medley

Click here to join Terri and friends for the Wednesday Medley.

1.  I'm sure many kids today have no idea what V-J Day is all about.  Did you have a loved one who fought in WWII?
I believe 2 of my uncles were in the service during the war, but I’ve never heard any of their stories.  I wish now I had asked them.

2.  The iconic sculpture from the famous photograph of  "The Unconditional Surrender" has been defaced recently because of the #metoo movement. I know we can get very political about this subject, but just keeping it in the spirit for which it was created, what are your thoughts?
I think that statue is so cool and I really hate to see that it’s been defaced.  I have no comment I wish to make here about this movement.

3.  Terri's grandson, Tristan, loved playing a game called "Axis & Allies".  It was quite complicated, took up the entire dining room table, and was not something Terri wanted to play (Grandpa understood it and played though).  Can you name three Axis countries and five of the many Allies (okay to look it up!)?
Never heard of that game and I don’t know the answer right off the top of my head, I had to look it up.  Here’s the answer I found “World War II (1939–1945) Axis powers (Germany, Italy, Japan, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria) versus Allies (U.S., Britain, France, USSR, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, Greece, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, South Africa, Yugoslavia).

4.  Terri was surprised to learn that most historians agree that WWII began when Germany invaded Poland on September 1, 1939. Others say it started when Japan invaded Manchuria on September 18, 1931. And some scholars suggest WWII is actually a continuation of WWI, with a break in between.  Have you ever visited Pearl Harbor in Hawaii or any other WWII memorials around the world?
I was privileged to visit the World War II Memorial in Washington DC as a chaperone on a school trip with my oldest daughter.

5.  Calvin Graham was only 12 years old during WWII when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He won a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart before the Navy found out how old he was.  (God bless him.) Terri doesn't know any 12-year olds today who could qualify or get away with something like that.  Times are so very different now but (in the US) we do have ROTC in high schools.  Do you know anyone who started in ROTC and went on to enlist in one of the services?
Yes, the daughter of  one of my friends is currently in boot camp after being involved in ROTC in high school.

6.  Please tell us something about your week so far.
It’s been a good week.  Church Sunday, and work on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday too.  It’s been really nice to have time at home to relax in the evening (even in the midst of doing laundry).  I’m enjoying working on a crochet blanket I’m making for my hubby.  Plans are for it to be approximately 8’x8” when completed.  Currently it’s about 8’x1'.  Obviously, I’ve got a long way to go!  lol

NATIONAL ROAD TRIP DAY – Friday Before Memorial Day

National Road Trip Day - Friday Before Memorial Day

1.  Have you ever done a spur-of-the-moment road trip?  Yes  Where did it take you? We take spur of the moment day trips quite often.  We've gone to Amish Country in Ohio and many other places in Ohio, Indiana, KY.  We love road trips.  In fact, hopefully we'll do one on Monday.
2.  If time and money wasn't an issue, what roads would you choose to travel and how long would you be gone?  I would love to take a month and travel out west and see as much as I could.
3.  When you go on a long road trip, what snacks and beverages do you take?Typically, we don't pack snacks and beverages.  We'd rather stop along the way and get something to snack on or drink.  We enjoy the stops.    Do you pack a picnic?  No Does the back seat turn into a nest? Well, if you mean does it get messy, yes.  But we do try to straighten it up each day.  I usually have craft stuff to work on and hubby has pillows.  So yes, I guess you could say we turn it into a nest.
4.  Please tell us about something interesting or strange you have seen on the side of the road. One of the funniest things we saw was the "World's Largest Peanut" just off I-75 in southern Georgia.  My husband planned for us to stop with the girls and kept telling us about it and then when we got there, it was just so funny.  Not at all what I expected.  But the girls still talk about it today!
5.  Who does the driving when you head out in the car? Hubby does most of the driving, but I take the wheel some too.  Do you stop in the rest areas along our Interstate highways when you have to use the facilities, or do you choose a fast-food restaurant or gas station instead?  Not TMI... inquiring minds want to know!    Yes, we do stop in rest areas, especially love to stop in the Welcome Centers.   We also use restaurants and gas stations for the facilities too.  Just depends if we need gas or it's meal time, where and when we stop.
6.  Please share something with us about your week so far.  Hubby and I went to our nephew's jazz band concert last night.  It's been a long time since we've been to a school concert.  Loved it.

Thankful Thursday

Things I am thankful for today and not in any particular order:

**time to crochet and knit.  I finished this hat the other night for my youngest daughter.  No she wants me to make a new hat for my grandson.  Of course Gigi is always happy for an excuse to buy some new yarn.

**I'm happy to be back home with this little pup.  I sure do miss her when we travel, but she does not travel well and is better off at the kennel.  She seems really happy and content to be home too.

This is right after her bath.  She's not necessarily happy here.  lol

Sacked out with her Santa blanket.
**My daughters and grandson.  I love my family so much and feel so blessed by God to have them.
I love this photo of them
**Hallmark Christmas Movies - I'm glad to have something to watch that I know will be clean and just plain fun.  Hokey...yes, but I still love them.

See I've got the tree up, it's just not decorated yet.

**McDonald's Hot Chocolate.  Sometimes a girl just needs something hot and chocolate on these cold mornings.

**Vacation.  I feel so blessed to have had 2 1/2 weeks of this view and time with family and my hubby where we were relaxed and could do what we wanted when we wanted or do nothing at all.

Sunset

Another sunset
**I'm also thankful for my church family and being back with them to worship together.

Life is good and God is even better.  So what are you thankful for?  If you'd like you can click here to link up with Thankful Thursday.

Thanks for visiting.
