Thankful Thursday

Today, I am so thankful that I get to see this little guy for a few minutes tonight and hopefully again over the weekend sometime.  I wish it could be longer, but I'll take any time I can get with this face.

I also thankful for the time I got to spend with my brother and both sisters and their spouses and even one nephew on Monday.  My sister hosted us and it was so fun being together.  My family seems to have gotten so small when it was always so large before.  With mom and dad and my brother in heaven and my two girls and one nephew living in other states, it just a small group of us now.  But I love them and thankful for them.

I'm also thankful for the devotion I started on Monday with an Instagram group.  We're doing "100 Days to Brave", by Annie F. Downs.  It started on Memorial Day and I believe it ends around Labor Day.  I would like to be a braver person and hope this will give me some encouragement to step out more.  If you'd like to do it to, the hashtag on Instagram is #100daystobravesummer

So what are you thankful for this week?

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day!

Thankful Thursday

This week I am thankful for:

**Our Wednesday night Bible Study group. My husband is doing a thing called “Ask the Pastor” where anyone can write down a question and present it to him ahead of time. Then he will study and come back with an answer. We have some of the best times during these sessions sharing and learning together. There have been some really great questions too.  And sometimes there is a question he really doesn’t know the answer to, but the discussions are still good.

**I'm thankful for our home and our neighborhood and our neighbors. I so love living here.

**We have our flag flying in the above picture and I just want to say I'm thankful for all who have served and have helped us to live in a free country.  We are so very blessed.

**I'm thankful that God loves me and takes care of me and most of all that He forgives me when I fall. He picks me up and puts me back on the right path. He is so loving and patient and I'm sure I really try his patience from time to time.

I’m thankful for the beautiful skies last evening and all of God’s creation.

So, what are you thankful for?

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

From this Side of the Pond

1. The last place you visited/patronized where you felt like you were given 'the royal treatment'?
I feel I usually get pretty good treatment anywhere, but royal...not sure I'd go that far.

2. The last task you completed that was a 'royal pain'?
Sweeping and mopping the floors are a royal pain to me.

3. How have your strengths helped you succeed? How have your faults hindered you?
I feel I'm a fairly positive person most of the time and I think that's good.  But that being said, I'm also rather sarcastic and I'm not sure that helps much.

4. If you found a remote that could rewind, fast forward, stop and start time, what would you do with it?
I don't think I'd do anything with it.  Although I'd love to talk to mom and dad and my brother again, I wouldn't want them to come back here for anything.  I think I'll just wait until I can go meet them in heaven.

5. Any special plans for the Memorial Day weekend? Will you in some way honor or recognize the meaning of this day (remembering people who died in service to their country)? Have you ever been to Arlington National Cemetery? Does your town do anything special to mark the day?
I'm off work and that's about as special as it gets.  We may go to a parade in the town my hubby grew up in.  I think our nephew is in one of the marching bands.  Yes, I have been to Arlington and I loved it.  Our town has a parade also.  My flag and red, white and blue wreath are already up and mom and dad's and my brother's graves have red, white and blue flowers on them.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

It's Wednesday and time for the Hodgepodge.  Click the button above if you'd like to join in with us.  Thanks Joyce for another week of great questions.

1. What would you say is your biggest day to day challenge?
Making myself take the time to walk each day and take care of myself.

2. May 16th is National Biographers Day. What's a biography you really enjoyed reading? Is this a genre you read regularly?
I've been reading biographies since I was a kid.  When mom took us to the library, I almost always got biographies on historical characters that were written for kids.  Loved them then and still do.  I'm not sure I could pick a favorite though.  Right now, I'm on a waiting list at my library for one on Dolly Parton.  I read one on Laura Bush that I really liked and I read one that George W. Bush wrote that I really liked.

3. How important is keeping a clean house?
I think it's important to an extent, but I'm not always that good at it.  I remember hearing that when I die, I'll never wish I dusted more, but will wish I spent more time with the ones I love. Do you need to de-clutter your life? I am in the process of de-cluttering even now.  I've got bags of stuff to give away.  I'm getting there, but it's a process and then I'll probably have to start over when I'm done.  lol

4. You're the 8th dwarf. What's your name?
Fluffy (because I'm not fat, I'm fluffy).

5. What's surprised you the most about your life or life in general?
Life is going so fast.  I can't believe I'm 60 and that things can change so very fast.  One day all is good and the next, life is falling apart.  (we're good now, but the past couple of years, so much happened and changed so drastically so fast).

6. Insert your own random thought here.
Here's the weekly photo.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for:

**My chiropractor - I just went this morning for my regular adjustment.  I totally needed it after all the riding in the car we did last week on our trip.  At the moment I certainly feel better. Now I just have to be careful not to sit too much, which is hard since I work at a desk.  lol

**I'm thankful for our trip last week to the Smokies.  We had such a wonderful time relaxing and just enjoying being together with no schedule of any kind.

I feel so blessed.  How about you?  Click here to join in with Rebecca Jo.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What are your ingredients for a perfect Saturday?
Slow easy morning, reading and cleaning up and then lunch out with hubby and maybe  go watch planes at the airport or head to a lake or the river and enjoy from the banks and then relaxing in the evening, watching TV or a movie.

2. What skill do you wish more people took the time to learn?
Kindness.  Maybe that's not a skill, but people definitely need to practice it more.

3. What's something you ate as a child you can't stand now as an adult?
I can't think of anything.  It's usually the opposite way around.  Things I hated as a child, I love now, like green beans and soup beans, etc.

4. Something parenting has taught you? If you're not a parent tell us one important lesson you learned from your own parents.
Children definitely are little people and they have their own ideas about things and will not like something just because you do.

5. Share a favorite quote or saying about mothers or motherhood.
"Never have more children than you have car windows." --Erma Bombeck

6. Insert your own random thought here.
Sure do love this little boy.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.
