Tuesday 4 - Toys

Toys

Annie says "Hello. It's time for Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.  I hope you are enjoying them.  I welcome ideas for questions or themes, so feel free to let me know.

Could we talk about toys?  Toys are important to children and sometimes to adults as well.   There are memories tied up with toys we loved, toys we miss having in our lives.  We found comfort in them, excitement with them and just fun times over all."

1. What was your favorite all time toy? Probably my bike and my hula hoop

2. What kind of toys did you enjoy growing up? Bike, Hula Hoop, Base Ball and Glove, Swimming Pool (the few years we had one), Sandbox, Swingset.

3.  I think certain bric a brac in the home could be a kind of grown up's toy.  What is in your home just purely to make you happy? Paintings and Drawings from my sister and my daughter.

4.What games were your favorites and do you still play any games? Hopscotch, kickball, Life, Scrabble, Monopoly, Dominoes

That's it for today.  Thanks Annie for the fun questions.  Hope you all have a great day and thanks for visiting.

Share 4 Somethings - August 2023

I'm linking up with Jennifer at Overflowing With Thankfulness for Share 4 Somethings.  The prompts are things we loved, read, learned and ate in August.

Loved:  I'm still loving our crochet group and I love that I finally finished this baby blanket.  I've got another one started.  I'll have to show a picture here sometime when I get a little farther along on it.

This morning I ordered a kit to make a little turtle.  I've been wanting to do something like this for a while now and this may be the way to start doing it.  It has everything you need and they say it's for beginners.  Now, while I've been crocheting for over 40 years, I've never done something like this.  I hope I can do it and that's it's a lot of fun.  Time will tell.  😉

I'm also loving our Open House Prayer Time at our church every Tuesday morning.  Hubby just opens the doors of the church, the lights are muted and there is soft worship music playing and scriptures on the screens to encourage worship and prayer.  We've been doing this for almost 2 months now and everyone seems to enjoy coming to the church to pray.  Some come in for a few minutes and some stay a lot longer.  It really is a wonderful way to pray and just spend time with God.  There is no visiting or talking (unless you want to visit outside on the way in or out) or anyone leading. It's just you and the Lord.

Read:  I have read 6 books so far this month. And all have been by the same author, Jean L. Kuhnke.   If you check my Good Reads in the sidebar, you can see what I've read.  I like reading her books as they are fairly short and I love her stories.  Also, she publishes them on Amazon and 100% of the proceeds go to help support a small mission church here in the United States.

I'm still enjoying reading the 4 Gospels along with Annie F. Downs each month.  This month we've been reading the Gospels in the Message, which I really enjoy.

Learned: I can't think of anything specific right now, but I know I've learned things from the sermons and Bible studies I've listened to this month.

Ate: Hubby took me to Texas Roadhouse for my birthday and I had a delicious steak and we also hit Red Lobster this month and some wonderful shrimp dishes.  No pictures, but they both were very good.  But probably my favorite meal was made at home.  Hubby cooked a big pot of green beans with red potatoes and chopped pieces of ham.  Then we had some corn on the cob and I had fresh tomatoes given to me by my sister and a church friend.  Definitely, my favorite summertime meal.

This picture is from July, but it was the
same thing this month, except we
 didn't have the blueberry muffins.

Well that's my 4 Somethings for August.  Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a good weekend.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What's your earliest memory?  I'm not sure, but probably somewhere around the age of three.  We moved to a house my dad built for us when I was 3 and I remember little snippets of playing and living there.  I do not remember anything of the house before that.

2. What's something about you today that the old you would find surprising?   That I actually am retired after working 45 years.  I never dreamed when I started that job that I would work there all those years.

3. Do you like to fish? I don't know because I haven't fished since I was a little kid.  Are you a fish eater? Yes Favorite fish (to eat)? Cod Favorite way to prepare fish? Prepared by someone else....I prefer my fish broiled, but breaded and deep fried is good too.

4. What's your biggest first world problem? Keeping up with all the things I need to do such as house chores, doctor's appointments for me and hubby and also my sister's appointments, paying bills (although hubby does most of this), etc.

5. What one word would you use to describe your year thus far? Blessed

6. Insert your own random thought here. On yesterday's post I mentioned a fan that I have for my cell phone. And some of you asked about it. Here is a link on Amazon where I purchased them.

If you look close, you can see
the pink fan and a glimpse
of my new haircut.

Here's the fan not plugged in.

Thanks Joyce for another week of Hodgepodge.

Thank you for visiting and I hope you have a great day.

Tuesday 4 - Summertime Easy Living?

Summertime Easy Living?

Annie says, "Hey! Welcome back to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 where we ask just 4 questions each week to give you something to blog about, something to think about and a reason to visit other blogs!

Summer time and the living is easy says the song.  So how is summer going for you? Let's talk about it....."

1. How has it been so far? I think it's been a really good summer.  Life is good!

2. What have you been doing this summer? Blogging, reading, crocheting, watching TV and Mystery Movies in the evenings.  Spending time with family and specified times of praying (Tuesday mornings, Open House Prayer Time at Church and then August 31 Days of Prayer).  I also went to Texas for my daughter's wedding.  As I said in #1, it's been a really good summer.

3. What are you going to do? Any plans? As far as I know, there are no special plans except to celebrate hubby's birthday later this week and next month our women's Bible study group will be starting up again.

4. It's been hot in most of the country but here on the Jersey coast it's been perfect so far. Not too hot, not too cool but just right with breezes.   How are you weathering the heat. Any tips on staying  cool on hot, humid days?  Clothing, food, drinks, fans, air conditioning? Let us know your secrets to keeping cooler.  I'm doing okay with the heat.  I figure that I survived an outdoor wedding in Texas late in July, so I should be able to handle whatever August in Ohio throws at me. lol  I always make sure to have something nearby to drink so I don't get dehydrated and I stay inside with air conditioning as much as possible on the really hot days.  I have a little fan that plugs into my iPhone and I carry that almost anywhere I go, just in case.

Hey Annie, Thanks for these questions and for the link-up.  Thanks everyone else for visiting.

Bits of This and That

Good morning:

It's a beautiful morning, but it's going to get really hot as the day goes on and it will be really hot all week.  But that's okay because we are blessed to have air conditioning.

We had a nice weekend and the weather was really nice...not too hot at all.  It was pretty quiet for us.  We went out for lunch on Friday and Saturday and took something home for lunch on Sunday after church. Saturday evening while watching some TV, I also scrubbed down my bathroom and did some laundry.

I read a good book (you can see in my sidebar for Good Reads what I read).  And I started another one.  We watched some TV and really just relaxed this weekend (actually, we do that most weekends.).

I finished this baby blanket last Wednesday and I've started another one.

Here's a pre-recorded copy of the Sunday morning sermon.

Life is good and I feel so blessed.  I hope you are having a good day and thanks for visiting.

Friday Photos - Everyday Images #15

Kym from A Fresh Cup of Coffee has a link up for "Everyday Images" and below is the list of prompts of August.  Kym says:  "I am sharing my photos every other Tuesday, along with my prompts for the next two weeks. You can use all or some of the prompts for your own photo posts, or none of the prompts and just link up a post featuring your photos. Simple rules: Your posts must be family-friendly; the photos must be your own; and the post must be mostly photos. If you do share I'd appreciate a mention and link to A Fresh Cup of Coffee on your post."

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for our our sweet Lucy.  She is 10 years old today.  I can't believe we've had her that long.  Unfortunately for her, she had a vet appointment today to get her boosters.  He said she is very healthy and I'm praying we'll have her for a lot more years.

She's a pretty hyper dog and she's definitely strong-willed.  Much more so than either hubby or myself.  But we love her so much.  She keeps us on our toes and she makes us laugh a lot.  Here are a few pictures of her through the years.

Thank you Jesus for giving us this little girl.  Happy 10th Birthday, Lucy!!!

Wednesday Hodgepodge - Is Ignorance Bliss?

1. What motivates you to work hard? A deadline.

2. It's been said "Ignorance is bliss"...is it? Probably not...although, sometimes I really prefer not knowing.  But mostly if I try to ignore things, when I finally find out about them, I realize it probably would have been better to have known sooner.

3.Would you rather be stuck on a broken elevator or a broken ski lift? Explain. Have you ever actually been stuck on either? Of the common fears listed here what's your #1- heights-enclosed spaces-snakes-public speaking-the dark-flying I don't think I've ever been stuck for very long in an elevator.  Although, on our last trip to Myrtle Beach one of the elevators kept sending me to the wrong floor.  Rather disconcerting.  Of the items listed in the 2nd half of this question, I'd probably say snakes.

4. What's something you like about the town or city where you live? I think our town is beautiful.  I've lived within 20 minutes or so from my town all my life and I really have no desire to move anywhere else.  However, I think I would really like to move into town close to the downtown area...so I could walk there every day. Here are some of those places I would like to be able to walk to.

5. Life is too short to be angry at someone.  Just forgive (for your own well-being) and get on with life.

6. Insert your own random thought here. I love both of these murals painted on the outside of a couple of buildings in nearby towns.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.
