If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Bits of This and That

Good morning!

We had a very nice, quiet Easter weekend. It's been good. After church on Sunday, we picked up some lunch and brought it home and then relaxed and tracked Kelli flying to Milan, Italy with her husband and his mom and aunt. They left Tampa around 12:30-1:00 and arrived in Milan about 12 hours or so later. Hubby saw on the app that they had landed and then just a short time later, she texted and let us know they arrived safely. Mom and dad then went to sleep peacefully.

Gorgeous photo from their first day

Such a cute photo

What a beautiful place and a beautiful couple.
I told Kelli I need a picture like this, but with no sunglasses. lol

Kerri and her family went to church with a friend and then they had lunch together and later a swim.

Precious Family

My Cutie!

I think he likes his Easter basket!

Here is the pre-recorded sermon from Sunday morning.

Thanks for visiting.

Bits of This and That

We've had another nice quiet weekend.  I wanted to take just a moment to post yesterday's pre-recorded sermon.  It was the 5th in the series about the names of Jesus!  The Prince of Peace, Sar Shalome.

Merry Christmas to all!

Bits of This and That

I went to my sister's for Thanksgiving...hubby wasn't feeling well and didn't get to go.  There were nine of us there.  But definitely my great-nephew was the star of the day.  He just turned 2 and he's very shy, but after lunch he warmed up a lot and loved all the attention he was getting from everyone watching him and oohing and ahhing over everything he did.

My baby brother and his wife (grandparents to the great nephew)  I think
Grandpa is a little worn out.  lol

Mommy playing with him.  They'd put this vest on him and he'd run across
the room and take it off and run back to mom to put it on again.

Daddy, Mommy and great grandpa

My brother-in-law is to the right and it's their home
we are in.

Out of kindness, I did not post the picture I took of my sister because she would not have liked it and not only out of kindness, but fear for my life.  lol  She has always hated to have her picture taken, so I didn't put one of either of us.  I took a plate of food home to my hubby and he enjoyed that a lot.  He hadn't had much to eat for the past several days. So he was a happy man too, although still in pain when he moves too much.

Friday, I ran out and did some errands and hubby placed an order at Cracker Barrel and I picked that up on the way home.  The rest of the day was spent at home, resting and watching Christmas movies, etc.  Saturday was a very similar day.  On Sunday we went to church...hubby still couldn't turn his head, but he did preach and I personally thought it was a great sermon.  Below is the pre-recorded version of his sermon.

So that's pretty much our weekend.  Hubby called and made an appointment with the chiropractor this morning and after that, I'm meeting my sister to go do some shopping.  Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.  I'd love to hear about your weekend.

Tuesday 4 - Independence Day

Independence Day, July 4, 1776

"Happy 4th of July and a warm welcome to Tuesday 4 from the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Let's talk about the day...." - from Annie

1. What is your tradition for July 4th? Do you read the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights?  Sometimes, we go see fireworks somewhere and more often than not we watch the movie, The Music Man...not sure why, but we do.
No, I don't read the Declaration or the Bill of Rights. Although, I probably should refresh my memory on those documents.

2.  Does your town do it up big for the holiday? Our town has their celebration on July 3rd each year.  But they do it nice with a parade, a small festival area and a great fireworks display.

3. Do you fly the flag?  Yes

4.   Have you visited Philadelphia, Pennsylvania our first capital? What did you see there?  No, I have not, but I would love to some day.

Here you can hear the real liberty bell rung in Liberty Square, Philadelphia Pa.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Bits of This and That - Memorial Day 2023

It's a beautiful morning on this Memorial Day Monday.  It's 59 degrees and partly cloudy right now at 7:38am.  Hubby and I are trying to ease into the day and just enjoy being together.  No real plans for the day yet.  I know we're going to head into town in a bit and either watch the parade or head out to the church (which is on a hill at the edge of town) to try to catch the planes that fly over the parade.  He thinks we could maybe see them better from up there.  When you're right downtown some of the buildings block the view partially.  Here's a picture from last year.

Then we'll grab a bite of lunch and I need to run into the store and get a couple of things.  I've got eggs on to boil right now to make some deviled eggs and I think we'll have hamburgers or hotdogs and maybe some baked beans for dinner.  We missed the National Memorial Day show on PBS last night, but have found it on YouTube and we plan to watch it tonight.  We try to see it every year.  So that's our plans so far for the day.  What are you doing?

Below is yesterday's sermon from the current series hubby is preaching.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day!

Tuesday 4 - The Thanksgiving Feast

Welcome, welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 .  You can link up here.

Let's talk about the Thanksgiving Feast.

1. Do you celebrate with family, friends or by yourself? We typically celebrate with family.  My sister and her husband, my other sister, hubby and I and his mom plan to have Thanksgiving lunch at Bob Evans this year.  We've done that several times and we always enjoy it.  No one has to cook and we can just be together and enjoy the time talking, eating and just enjoying each other's company. I miss the old days of going to his or my parents and having the girls there with us, but we've learned to be happy with getting the local ones together.  Of course, I imagine at some point we'll talk with the girls and grandson on that day too.

2.  Do you watch the Thanksgiving Day parade from Macy's in New York City? Usually at least a part of it.  The appearance of Santa at the end signals the start of the Christmas season.  What does the day hold for you?  Well, see #1 and then after that at some point we'll probably finish our Christmas decorating and watch some Christmas movies and maybe get some reading in.

3. What foods are the hit of Thanksgiving Day for you? Really, I'm not too picky.  It's just not about the food to me any more, it's about being together.

4.  We say grace before and after meals. Is grace a part of your Thanksgiving meal?  Before meals, yes and any other meal too!

Whatever your Thanksgiving traditions, I pray that the day is meaningful and filled with love for you whether with family, friends or alone. May God shine his blessing love down on you and yours and make us all truly thankful this year.

Thanks for visiting.

Currently - The Day before Thanksgiving

Currently I am...

Reading:  Divine Disruption by Dr. Tony Evans and his 4 kids and I'm also reading The Rancher's Christmas by Brenda Minton.

Listening to: Christmas Traditional Radio on Pandora - "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" is currently playing.

Loving: Watching all the Hallmark Christmas movies.

Thinking: I have a 4 day weekend coming up and yes, I know I just got back from a 2 1/2 week vacation.

Feeling: Happy.  Life is pretty good right now.

Celebrating:  Thanksgiving of course.

Grateful for: Retirement that is approaching.  I only have 24 more days to work and that's counting today..

Weather:  Cold, but beautiful sunshine and blue skies.

Enjoying:  Seeing Lucy in her new sweater.

And the beautiful manger my sister's husband made for us.  Picking up a floodlight after work so it'll show in the dark.

Looks like I also need to rake some leaves, so it'll look a little better.  lol

A quote I want to share: I've posted this before, but it bears repeating.
"Worry is a conversation you have with yourself about things you cannot change.  Prayer is a conversation you have with God about things He can change."

Thank you so much for visiting and I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!

November Life

I know I haven't been around here much lately.  I've had a really good November.  Hubby and I spent almost 3 weeks in Myrtle Beach and had such a really good, relaxing time while we were there.

We had really good weather most of the time and I was on the beach at least once most every day.  Also our daughter and her fiance' came down and spent about 5 days there with us.  So fun to get to be with them.

I went back to work last Monday and worked 3 days and then had a four day weekend.  Now that's the way to do it!  Hubby and I picked up Thanksgiving Dinner at Bob Evans and took it to his mom's.  We had a great time, just the 3 of us, social distancing safely.  We talked and ate and just enjoyed each other's company.  Of course, we missed the rest of the family, but maybe doing it this way made it a little easier for hubby and his mom as this is the first Thanksgiving without his dad and her husband.

The rest of the weekend, we did a little online shopping for Christmas presents and a little decorating and watched some Christmas Hallmark movies.  All in all a very nice weekend. I'm very thankful for my family and friends and all God has blessed me with.

So that's all I have right now.  How was your Thanksgiving weekend?

Our New Nativity

We bought a new Nativity while on vacation and I'm so in love with it.  I love the glitter and the lights.  This video isn't the greatest, but hope you get the idea of it.  I know Thanksgiving isn't over yet, but I just had to show you.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone and thanks for visiting!!!

Thankful Thursday

I'm linking up with Knit by God's Hand for Thankful Thursday. Thank you Rebecca for reminding me to be deliberately thankful. It is so easy to forget and just take life for granted.

Here are some things I am thankful for today.

1.  This may seem odd, but I'm thankful for numbness. When they did my surgery, they cut some nerves which has caused me to be pretty numb in that area. It turns out that I have burned pretty badly from the radiation. But the numbness keeps the pain from being too awful. So to me, the numbness is a real blessing from God.

2.  I'm so thankful for my husband. He has been with me every step of the way this past year. He has taken care of me and encouraged me when I've gotten down. He is so wonderful!

3.  I'm thankful for all who have prayed for me and for each word of encouragement I've received. God has truly blessed me with wonderful family and friends.

4.  I'm thankful for my girls and my little grandson. While we won't be with them today, I hope they have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Thanksgiving/Christmas

I just read Knit by God's Hand's post and she reminded me of the local station we have playing Christmas music. I was able to get it online so I can listen here at work. Now I'm getting in the mood to decorate. We may have to start this week. I'm really looking forward to Christmas this year. It's going to be sad because Kelli can't come home. But it's going to be fun too with a new grandson. We'll just have to make the best of Kelli being gone and hopefully FaceTime with her.

I know Thanksgiving hasn't come yet and believe me I am very thankful this year, that I am still here and almost through with my treatments. Praising God for that. But I may be doing that thankfulness with Christmas decorations up. How about you? Do you decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving? If we do, I'll try to post some pictures and I'd love to see your pictures too.

In the meantime, here's another picture of Colton.

Have a blessed day!

My Weekend

We had a nice 3 day weekend. Those are always my favorite kind (the 3 days, I mean).

Thursday after work, we picked my sister up and we all went to my brother's house for New Years Eve. There was family, good food, games, good conversations. It was just a really nice evening. We left around 10:30, to take my sister back home and then we were home by 11:50. I decided to sit up and watch the ball drop and he said he was going on to bed. But sweetie that he is, he came back in during the countdown so we could have a New Year's kiss. Love that man.  Here are 3 pictures from that evening.

The adults are playing some kind of word game and the kids are just playing.

There was even a jigsaw puzzle set up and some were working that.

This is where I spent most of my evening just sitting in the living room and enjoying conversations with different ones that came in and out.  We heard some really interesting and entertaining stories.

On New Year's Day, we relaxed around the house in the morning and then we went to Outback for lunch. We both had a really good salad, baked potato and rib eye steak. It'd been quite a while since I'd had a steak. Yummy!! After that we went to Walmart to pick up some necessities and then to visit my dad. He was not having a very good day. Some are good and some are not.

After that we went home and we watched "War Room" again. Such a good movie and a really good way to start out the new year. I'm all fired up to spend more time in God's Word and especially in prayer.

Saturday we relaxed again in the morning and in the late afternoon we went to Blaze Pizza and then I did some laundry and just spent the evening relaxing and knitting.

Sunday we had church and then went to lunch with hubby's parents and his brother and family. While we were there my cousin and his family came in and then my sister and her husband and my brother and his father-in-law. We ended up having almost a third of the restaurant. It was fun trying to talk and interact with everyone. Back to church that evening and now I'm back to work.

So that was my weekend in a nutshell. How was yours?

Friday Fragments

Half-Past Kissin' Time

We had a great Christmas. Both girls and the fiance' arrived at our house around 9:00am Christmas morning. We did gifts and then had cinnamon rolls for breakfast. Later we went to the in-laws and had Christmas lunch. Very, very good! Then presents and then just relaxed and visited. Kerri and Charlie had to leave to go to his family and then later Kelli and Tracy and I went home and relaxed some more. It was a very good day.

Kelli left Sunday to go back to Florida. I miss her, but it really is pretty nice to just be me and hubby again at home. It's very quiet. :)

New Years Eve - hubby and I stayed home. I tried to stay awake but ended up falling asleep in the recliner. However, I did wake up a little before midnight and watched the ball drop. Man, am I boring or what!?! Oh well, it works for me. haha

Hubby got a new computer on Monday. So it's really quiet now because he's busy setting it up and playing around. haha I spent a lot of time watching TV and taking down the tree by myself yesterday. Hubby came in and helped with the ornaments on top and then the actual boxing up and packing away of the tree itself.

I re-activated the items in my Etsy shop and added a lot more to it over the past couple of days. Check it out if you're interested. There's a link in my sidebar to the right.

That's about all the fragments I have for now. Hope you have a great weekend.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Are you settling for something?
Nothing comes to mind right now.

2. It wasn't that long ago almost every store in the US locked doors and turned out lights on Thanksgiving Day. This year many will be open all day Thursday, giving shoppers a jump start on 'Black Friday'. In your opinion is this a good thing or a not so good thing? Will you be shopping on Thanksgiving Day?
Seeing as how I've worked for our local police department for the past 37 years and have worked many, many holidays, it doesn't seem that big a deal to me. Lots of people have to work the holidays (medical, law enforcement, fire, etc.)  It's just a fact of life.  That being said, I don't plan to shop, but we are planning to have Thanksgiving lunch in a restaurant.

3. Speaking of shopping... I saw a recent article on the twelve best shopping cities in the world. In order they are-
New York, Tokyo, London, Kuala Lumpur, Paris, Hong Kong, Buenos Aires, Vienna, Dubai, Madrid, Milan, and Seoul.
Ever shopped in any of the cities listed? In which city would you most like to pull out the plastic or cold hard cash?
No, I have never shopped in any of these cities. I'd most like to shop in New York City, I think.

4. When did you last dine by candlelight?
Can't really remember.

5. What do you have too much of?
Craft supplies - specifically scrapbooking supplies.

6. The Hunger Games...are you a fan? Did you read the book(s)? Will you/have you seen the movie? Will you/have you seen Catching Fire? No spoilers please!
Yes, I am a fan.  Yes, I read the books.  I did see The Hunger Games.  I have not seen Catching Fire yet, but I can hardly wait.

7. Share your plans for Thanksgiving Day. The who, the where, the what...especially the what! As in what's for dinner? If you're one of my International visitors, whose homeland doesn't celebrate American Thanksgiving (the whole world doesn't ya know!), then still tell us your plans for Thursday.
Due to illness in our family, things are a little different this year.  Our plans are to meet our youngest and her boyfriend and my sister and her husband at Cracker Barrel.  Then at some point we'll go to mom and dad's and visit with them and my brother.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Little Piglet

Have you ever seen such a cute little Piglet?

Happy Halloween Everyone!
