If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Speaking of endings....at your wit's end, at loose ends, a dead end, burn the candle at both ends, all's well that end's well, or no end in sight...which 'end' phrase might best be applied to your life lately? Explain.
No end in sight. Some days I feel that way about work. Probably going to work longer than I planned. Really I don’t mind though. Maybe next year...who knows?

2. What was a must have accessory when you were growing up? Did you own one? If so tell us what you remember about it.
Curlers...when we were little it was the pink sponge curlers. When older it was brush rollers which really hurt to sleep in. There were perm curlers cause I got perms a lot. So glad to have short hair now and no more curlers or curling irons.

3. Something that made you smile yesterday?
Watching and talking to my grandson on video-chat.

4. January 30th is National Croissant Day. Do you like croissants? Sweet or savory? We're having chicken salad for lunch...would you rather have yours served on a croissant, a wrap, a bagel, bread, or a roll of some sort?
Yes, I like croissants. Both sweet and savory. I’d eat the chicken salad on a croissant for sure.

5. Sum up your January in fifteen words or less.
It’s been a nice relaxing month for the most part.

6.  Insert your own random thought here.
Working on a scarf for my Etsy shop.

Thankful Thursday and Friday Foto Friends

I know, I'm really late, but I really don't want to skip it all together.  I'm trying so hard to be intentionally grateful and this helps so much.  So, click the button above to join in with Thankful Thursday even though it's Friday.  I'm sure Rebecca won't mind.  Here are some things I am thankful for:

*  Bev and I visited our sister Karen Saturday and I had so much fun just being with them and talking and playing with Karen's cat.  I'm so thankful we are able to spend time together.
*  Then Bev and I shopped for a bit and I bought a new crochet hook to try (one of the ergonomic ones) and I love it.  I think I'm going to pick up a complete set of them.
*  After that I went home and hubby and I watched the 3rd Harry Potter movie in our Saturday Harry Potter Marathon.  We do this about once a year or so and I really enjoy it and am thankful for the time with my hubby
*  Sunday I had the best afternoon nap.
*  It's also warmed up enough that the puppy and I have been able to walk some again.  We've both been missing it.
*  Tuesday evening we had dinner with the hubby's parents.  It was fun listening to my father-in-law reminiscing about old times.

And since it's Friday, it's time for Friday Foto Friends.  Click the above button to participate.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. January 24th is National Compliment Day. Is it easy or not so easy for you to accept a compliment? Share a recent compliment you've given or received.
I'm better at giving them than receiving them.  I've given compliments to my youngest daughter as I think she's a good mama to my grandson.

2. Ten little things you are loving right now.
These are in no particular order:
1.My current crochet project
2.The current book I'm reading (The Undoing of Saint Silvanus by Beth Moore)
3.My grandson
4.My husband and daughters
5.Colby Jack Cheese (I'm eating a piece right now with my lunch)
6.My church family
7.My puppy
8.The days I can walk with my dog (when it's not too cold or raining)
9.Instagram
10.Mark Lowery's Attitude of Gratitude Posts on FB

3. Would people describe you as a positive person? Do you see yourself that way? I read here  a list/description of eight things positive people do differently-

Positive people find something to look forward to every day, they celebrate the small stuff, they're kind, they stay busy, accept responsibility for their actions, forgive themselves, know when to move on, and resist comparisons

Which action on the list would you say you do regularly? Which action could you add to your life to give you a more positive outlook? If you're a positive person, what's something you do regularly that's not on the list?
I'm not sure how others would describe me, but I feel I'm a fairly positive person.  I think I'm kind and I celebrate the small stuff, I accept responsibility and I'm learning to forgive myself quicker and I'm working on the comparison stuff.  I try to find something everyday to be thankful for and to thank God for the little things He does for me.  It really has helped to change my attitude.

4. Homemade chicken soup, beef stew, or a bowl of chili...what's your pleasure on a cold winter's day?
Of the 3 listed, I'd say chili for sure.

5. The best part of my day is....
Hubby picking me up from work and having the whole evening with him (no matter what we may be doing or where we may be going).  Just being with him.

6.  Insert your own random thought here.
I love video-chatting with this little one.  Last night I got to play with him as he took his bath.

Thanks for visiting.

Here it is closed - hoping to add to my Etsy Shop soon.

Pretty sunset Sunday night

Another view

More snow on Monday

Love this picture with the bird foot prints all over the snow.

The beginnings of a toboggan I'm making which will hopefully end up in my Etsy Shop too.

Thankful Thursday

There are many things I am thankful for this week:

*Several times of chatting with Kerri and Colton on Video Chat.  He's calling me Gigi more and more often.  Man he has this Gigi wrapped around his little finger.  lol

This boy loves hi bananas!!

*3-day weekend

*Lunch out with hubby on Saturday and Sunday

*Wonderful church services Sunday and the fact so many made it out with the weather and then back home safely again.

*Most of the rest of the weekend being at home because of the weather and enjoying time with hubby and reading, knitting, crocheting, binging some Netflix and watching the 2nd Harry Potter movie.  We are watching one every Saturday until we get through them all.  We do this about once a year or so.

*I'm also thankful God helped me get a billing issue resolved for my sister.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you are having a blessed week.  What is something you are thankful for this week?

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What keeps you blogging?
The friends I've "met".  I don't want to lose track of you all.  Plus I enjoy having a record of some of the stuff in my life to look back at and I hope my girls will enjoy it some day.

2. Some people like to travel in the winter months. Do you enjoy the beach in winter? According to Southern Living the best U.S. beach towns to visit this winter are-

St Simons Island (Georgia), Hilton Head (South Carolina), Bald Head Island (North Carolina), Seaside (Florida), Bay St. Louis (Mississippi), Cape San Blas (Florida), South Padre Island (Texas), Folly Beach (South Carolina), Chincoteague (Virginia), Duck Key (Florida), Nags Head (North Carolina), and Fairhope (Alabama)

Have you been to any of the towns listed (in any season)? Which on the list appeals to you most this winter?
I've been to St. Simons Island many, many years ago, but it was in the summer.  I'd prefer to go to Myrtle Beach (we go in November and love it) because I know the area and love it so much in the off-seasons).

3. What's a song you're embarrassed to know all the lyrics to? Are you really embarrassed or do just think you should be?
I can't think of one right now.

4. When you were a kid what's something you thought would be fantastic as an adult, but now that you're an adult you realize it's not all that fantastic?
The freedom to do what I want when I want and to spend what I want when I want.  Nope, that's not the way real life is.  You gotta pay the bills and same for the future and you gotta work, so there you go.  But that being said, I'm very happy with our life and there's not much I would change.

5. Share a quote you hope will inspire you in 2018.

6. Insert your own random thought here.
This little sweetie has a cold.  Doesn't he look pitiful.  This was on Monday.  He was laughing and playing some, but get coming up and snuggling with his mommy because he just isn't feeling the best.Hoping he's feeling better today.

Hope you all have a great day and thanks for visiting me.

Thankful Thursday

Things I am thankful for:

* Visit with Jeff and Bev. There to talk family business but ended up having such a great talk about all kinds of things. Love my brother and sisters

* An evening at home where we didn’t have to go out in the cold except to put the dog out.

* A short evening nap. Love it when this happens.

* Fun time watching the planes coming and going at the airport and crocheting. Hubby and I love to watch planes and there is a great viewing area at the Cincinnati Airport.

* Wonderful lunch at Don Pablo’s. Most of these restaurants have closed in our area. There is only one left and we just found out about it recently. Lunch was delicious!

* Visit with Bev and Karen, my sisters.  We took Karen out for a quick bite and then went to Walmart.

*.  Watched the first Harry Potter movie on Saturday. We will be watching them all over the few Saturdays. We do this about once or twice a year.

* Great Sunday morning service with final series sermon on the Heroes of Faith.

  * Good visit with radiation doctor. She was very pleased with my progress. It’s been two years since my diagnosis of breast cancer and over a year since my final treatment. As far as we know all is good. Trusting Jesus with it all. I could not have made it without Him.  He was with me every day through it all and He still is.

This is why I do Thankful Thursday.  Praying my heart is changing as I go.
So what are you thankful for this week. You can click the button at the top to join in with us.

1. January is National Mentoring Month. Have you ever had a mentor? Been a mentor? How would you rate the experience?
No, I have never had an official mentor although I’ve learned so much from so many over the years. No, I have never been a mentor but I hope I have helped others many times. I think mentoring is a wonderful thing.

2. What current trend makes no sense to you?
Man buns. Why???

3. I saw a cartoon on facebook highlighting a few 'weird' things that make you happy as an adult. The list included-writing with a nice pen, having plans cancelled, freshly cleaned sheets, eating the corner brownie, cleaning the dryer lint screen, and sipping coffee in that brief time before anyone else wakes up. (Credit for the cartoon goes here) Of the 'weird' things listed which one makes you happiest? What is one more 'weird' thing you'd add to the list?
Writing with a nice pen. I love all things office supplies and getting new ones.

4. What's the last good thing you ate?
Prime rib and baked potato from Outback Sunday.

5. Describe life in your 20's in one sentence.
Working 2nd shift and weekends and having no social life.

Thankful Thursday

Joining in with Rebecca for Thankful Thursday.  Click here if you'd like to also.

I'm thankful for:

*another long 3 day weekend which was quiet and very relaxing for the most part.

*a new day and a new year and the chance to start fresh with intentionally being grateful for all God has done and is doing for me day to day.

*Sleeping in and having a lazy morning with my hubby and puppy on Monday.

*A beautiful, sunshiny day outside my dirty car window even though it’s so cold.

* Lunch with hubby’s parents.

*Evening at home. Took down the tree, did some laundry. Not fun but thankful it’s done.

*Really good night's sleep and then back to work.

*Thankful I can listen to Pandora at work and hear the southern gospel music I love.

*Having lunch ready for the next 3 days. Yummy potato soup.

*Chili for supper made by a sweet friend at church.

*Our warm house.  I just feel so blessed in our home.

*Fun times with the folks at church tonight, learning and laughing together.  I just love these people so much.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. It's that time of year again...time for Lake Superior University to present a list of words (or phrases) they'd like to see banished (for over-use, mis-use, or genera uselessness) in 2018. You can read more about the decision making process and word meaning here, but this year's top vote getters are-

unpack, dish (as in dish out the latest rumor), pre-owned, onboarding/offboarding, nothingburger, let that sink in, let me ask you this, impactful, Cofefe, drill down, fake news, hot water heater (hot water doesn't need to be heated), and gig economy

Which of these words/phrases would you most like to see banished from everyday speech and why? Is there a word not on the list you'd like to add?
Can’t say any of them particularly bother me. Nor can I think of a word I’d like to get rid of right now either.

2. What's something you need to get rid of in the new year?
Some weight, I hope.

3. Where do you feel stuck?
I don’t feel stuck.

4. January is National Soup Month. When did you last have a bowl of soup? Was it made from scratch or from a can? Your favorite canned soup? Your favorite soup to make from scratch on a cold winter's day?
Friday, I had potato soup for lunch and I made it. In, fact I made another pot tonight and will be having it for lunch the next 3 days. Love it and it’s my favorite to make on a cold night. My favorite canned soup is Progresso New England Clam Chowder.

5. Tell us one thing you're looking forward to in 2018.
Hoping to get my ETSY Shop more active.

6. Insert your own random thought here.
My grandson got a haircut. He looks like a little boy now instead of a baby.

Thanks for visiting!
