If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

* Weather:  Got in the van last evening to head to the grocery and saw this...are you kidding me?!?

But then a little later in the evening I got on FB and saw this.

Puts things back into perspective a little bit.  Think I'll quit complaining about the weather and just start appreciating the good things in my life and be thankful and pray for the ones that fight to keep our country free.

*Bunheads:  Still watching and enjoying this new show.  It's not too often that I get in on the beginning of a show.  Hope it stays good.

*Cooking:  Hubby had supper ready when I got home last night (spaghetti) and it was very good.  It's so nice to come home after work and supper is ready and waiting.  I love my man!!  After dinner and clean-up, we went to the grocery and then I came home and made a pasta salad (which I am enjoying for lunch today)  Nothing like a cold pasta salad in the summer.

*Exercise:  I finally got my rear in gear and started walking again this week.  I've walked 4 nights so far and hoping I can make myself keep it up.  Gotta lose some more weight and also get myself in shape to walk the miles and miles at Disney at the end of the summer.

That's all I've got for now.  Hope you have a great weekend!

Is it Hot or What!!!

It seems a lot of you are posting your weather forecast for the weekend. Here is ours according to a local Cincinnati channel. It's going to be hotter than I thought, but it seems ours is not as bad as some of you are having. All I can say is WOW and thank you Lord for sweet air conditioning.

How's the weather where you are?

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Come on and join with Joyce for some Wednesday Hodgepodge.  Read and comment on mine first and then click the button above to play along.

1. What do the words 'freedom' and 'liberty' mean to you? Does your mind go more in the direction of not being persecuted or discriminated against or does it head in the direction of doing what you please?
Probably a little of all that.  I think of freedom to worship how I choose and not be persecuted because of that.  Although, sometimes I wonder how long this freedom is going to last.  I guess my first thoughts go towards the ones who fight to keep that freedom for us.

2. Nathan's sponsors a hot dog eating contest every 4th of July. Last year over 40,000 people attended the event and almost 2 million watched it on TV. The winner ate over 60 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes. How do you like your hot dogs?

I love them as coneys with cheese, chili and mustard

I also like them with ketchup, mustard and relish

3. If you were going to enter an eating contest what would be on the menu?
The first thing that pops into my head is MM's.  I have no idea why.  :)

4. Do you run your house more as a dictatorship or a democracy?
A little of both.

5. Where was your favorite summer place when you were a kid?
The 3 or 4 years that we had a pool, that was definitely my favorite place.

6. Do you have a guest room? Would you want to stay there?
No, we don't have a guest room, but someday when the girls move on, we'll probably turn one of their rooms into a guest room.

7. Next Wednesday America celebrates her independence. Do you have any special plans for the 4th of July? If you live outside the USA when and how does your country celebrate its own patriotic holiday?
No plans yet.  It's going to be a little bit strange because both of our girls will be out of state next week.  It'll be our first 4th of July as empty nesters.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Isn't this the coolest moth.  It's called a leopard moth.  It was hanging on the building where I work when I went to work Tuesday morning.  Unfortunately the batteries in my camera died just when I was trying to take a picture.  Fortunately a friend had their phone that has a decent camera and took this for me.

The Strange Things I Saw on Monday

I just have to share these two pictures I took on Monday. First if you are one of the ones that love all the vampire stuff on TV, in movies and books, then you may love this first picture.

This bat was "hanging" around work today.  It was by the back door.  How gross and scary is that?!?

The other photo was taken while Kerri and I were out walking in our neighborhood.  This cracked us up, so I took a picture and no I promise we don't live in a holler somewhere.  haha

You might be a redneck if......
Taken any funny pictures lately?

Weekend Wrap-Up

Weekend Wrap-up at a Defined Life

I'm joining in with "A Defined Life" for the Weekend Wrap-up. Why not click the button and join in too.

We had a pretty quiet weekend, but it was a really good weekend.  I only took a few pictures, so let's take a quick look.

This was driving home from work Friday night.  I just snapped this through the windshield of my car, so don't look too close or you might see my dirty window.

Beautiful big flower barrel on the streets of my town.  They are all up and down the main street of town.

As we were driving through town on our way back home from errand running, Kerri and I decided to stop and get a Whit's frozen custard.  Oh man, this stuff is awesome!

Kerri with hers in a cup

Me with a goofy look on my face with my custard on a cone, so I could drive.  Hubby was being good and didn't get one, he just stayed i the car.

Walking back to the car.  See the barrels of flowers.

Another picture of our town.  I think we have a pretty little town
Sunday we had church and then stopped and got some Taco Bell for lunch and spent the afternoon at home.  Then back to church Sunday night for another great service.  That is the extent of my weekend.  Love a quiet weekend once in a while.  Now, tell me, how was your weekend.

Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

Click here to join in with Mrs. 4444's for Friday Fragments

* Another surprising ending to Bunheads, episode 2. I think I'm hooked. Have you seen it? What do you think?

* It's been nice being empty nesters this week. Hubby and I have enjoyed some relaxing evenings at home and also have gone out a few times. Kerri will be coming back home today though, so no more empty nesters. But that's okay too. I'm looking forward to seeing her and hearing all about her camp experience this week.

* 9 weeks from tomorrow we'll be checking in at Disney for 11 days. Can't wait!

* 8 weeks from Sunday we'll be leaving after church to pick up Kelli in NC and take her back to college in FL and then Tracy, Kerri and I will spend 5 days roaming around FL until it's time to check in at Disney. I can't believe I get 3 weeks off work to vacation in FL Yay!!!!

That's all the fragments I have this week. Have a great weekend everyone!!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

After reading my answers, click the button above and join in on the first official Hodgepodge of Summer 2012.

1. Summer officially rolls in with the Hodgepodge this week, for those of us in the Northern hemisphere anyway. What song says summer 2012 to you?
I don't really have one, unless its any Disney song, since we get to go to Disney world at the end of summer and I've been listening to a lot of Disney music lately.

2. What's your favorite quintessential summer food?
Fresh Tomato and Cheese (American cheese or my favorite Velveeta Cheese) Sandwiches. Watermelon is another one.

3. I've spent a lot of time traipsing up and down the NJ Turnpike in recent weeks. Did you know the rest areas on the turnpike are named after people who lived or worked in NJ? Clara Barton, Walt Whitman, J. Fennimore Cooper, Molly Pitcher, Joyce Kilmer, Thomas Edison, and Gover Clevland just to name a few. Of those I listed, who would you most like to have known and why?
Thomas Edison because he made so many things.  Lots of really good quotes attributed to him too.  Here's one I like,  “Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

4. At what age did you move out of your parent's house and what prompted the move?
I was around 26 or so and I moved into an apartment with my sister.  My parents had a used furniture store at the time and it was just around the corner from where we moved.  We were always going there and getting new furniture.  It was so fun!

5. What's more satisfying to you-saving time or saving money?
Probably saving money.

6. Name something you think brings out the good in people.
What else but love of God and love by God.

7. This last question comes to you courtesy of Kathy over at Reflections...will you be taking a vacation or a staycation this summer? If so where will you go? If a staycation is on the calendar have you made any special plans to fill the time?
We'll be taking a vacation and we'll be going to Disney World as I said earlier.

One of my most favorite signs to see.  It means we're almost there.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Lily did well with her surgery and got to come home tonight.  She had 3 tumors removed and her teeth cleaned too.  She's sleeping now.  She looks so cute because she can't stay awake.  I love this dog and am so thankful she's okay now.

Weekend Wrap-up

Weekend Wrap-up at a Defined Life

I'm joining in with "A Defined Life" for the Weekend Wrap-up. Why not click the button and join in too.

Friday night we just stayed home and had a quiet evening.

Saturday we got up early and went to the Newport Aquarium.  Below are some pictures from the Aquarium.

These are "Upside Down Jellyfish"  Kind of weird-looking, don't you think?

The have a section called the Amazon Forest and this bird flew down real close and was watching me with the camera.  I think he was hoping I had something to eat for him.  He had the most beautiful bright colored feathers.

Isn't he beautiful?

Believe it or not, this guy was over my head.  They have these huge glass tunnels that you walk through and the fish are swimming all around you.

I petted a shark for the first time in my life.  They had a tank with these fellas in it so you could be them.  They didn't feel like I though they would.  They are kinda fuzzy feeling.  This is a leopard shark and they had pajama sharks and spotted sharks.  I petted one like this and the pajama sharks.  Kerri wanted to pet the biggest one, so she petted the spotted shark.  It took us a bit to work up our nerve, but we did it.  She wanted to so she would have a new FB status and of course, I did it so I could tell you all about it.  haha

The penquins are probably my favorites!

Then we walked out on the levee and watched the activity on the river for a bit

Something I seldom do....show a picture of hubby and me.  We neither one like our picture taken.

Kerri posing for the camera. She always takes such good pictures!

It's almost 11:00, so we started looking for a place to eat lunch.

We saw this girl posing.  She was so cute and did a really good job.

We ended up at Dewey's Pizza for lunch.  Tracy and I had never heard of it, but Kerri had been there with her youth group and said it was really good.  She was right!

Tracy and I shared a veggie pizza that was awesome!

Kerri had a cheese pizza.
That evening after running around and doing our Saturday chores and shopping, we went and visited with Mom and Dad and the family that was there.  We always have a good time at their house on Saturday nights.  They just sorta always have an open house on Saturday nights and us kids come and go.  It's about the only time I see some of my brothers and sisters.

Sunday was church and all the fathers received a gift.  I left my camera in the car, so I didn't get any pictures of the oldest fathers like I did the mothers.

After lunch, we went to my in-laws and had lunch and spent the afternoon looking at pictures from some of our past Disney trips.  My brother and sister-in-law and sons just returned from a trip a few weeks ago and then we'll be going in about 10 weeks and the in-laws will be meeting us there for a few days.  Can't wait.

Well, that's about all that happened on our weekend.  It was just the kind of weekend I love.  Time to rest and read, do some chores and have some fun times with family and just enjoying ourselves together.

How was your week-end?
