Bits of This and That

Good Morning:

We had a nice weekend.  Mostly quiet, but good.  I'll start with Saturday morning.  We took Lucy to the groomer's at Pet Smart.  We left there and went to church so hubby could pre-record his Sunday morning sermon, which I'll share near the end of this post.  We received a call from Lucy's groomer that she was ready to be picked up.  We picked her up and headed home.  Our groomer, Kelly B does an awesome job.  It had been 2 months since her last grooming.

Before

After

We spent the rest of the day at home.  I did some laundry, watched some TV, read some, read some blogs and just had a good day.

Sunday we went to church and had a good service and then picked up some lunch and had a nice nap, and I finished the book I was reading and then we headed back for the evening service.

After evening service we came home and watched a couple of shows that we are binging.  I made myself sort of a charcuterie plate for dinner. Sliced banana, apple slices with some peanut butter, and crackers with some vegetable cream cheese.  Delicious and so easy!

That was our weekend.  So many might think it was boring, but it was just the way we like it.  How was your weekend? I'm also linking up with Holly and Sarah at Hello Monday.

Photographs

Good morning:  It's Friday morning and we had snow overnight.  Not much, but more is supposed to be coming on Sunday and Monday and it sounds like it's going to be a lot.  Anyway,  I decided for today's post to show a few of the photographs I've taken this week.  I'm trying to get back to taking more pictures this year, because for some reason, I've not been doing that much lately.  We'll see how it goes.

Lucy enjoying watching out the window.

My new planner.  I used one like it last year and really liked it,
so I got it in a new color for this year.

I got this blanket back out to finish it up.  I had put it aside to make a baby blanket for our nephew and his wife and new baby girl.

Lucy laying on some throws.  Scruffy puppy needs a grooming.

My new wall calendar for the office at church

Miss Lucy out in the snow this morning

That's all for now.  Hoping your beginning of 2025 is going well.  We're spending a lot of time at home and I, for one, am really enjoying it.  Take care and have a great day.

Friday Photos

 Hi everyone.

Thought I'd share some photographs I've taken recently.  Hope you enjoy.

This was a fun puzzle to work

This was a favorite one

Hubby and I watched our favorite Christmas movie

Beautiful sunset on Sunday evening on our way to church.
I was driving so I stopped in the middle of the road to
be able to take this.  Thankfully no one was behind us

Our church lit up for our Christmas Candlelight Carol Sing

Some of our Christmas decorations this year

Love our little fiberoptic tree

Usually Lucy won't look at me for a picture, but she let me take several of her this night.

My mother-in-law makes the best pasta salad

My daughter took this picture.  Colton got a leopard
gecko for Christmas, so we bought him this t-shirt.

A group of us cousins got together today for lunch at Bob Evans.  We had so much fun.  I realized we are getting so old.  We range in age from 50 something to 85.  That was a little shocking!  No matter the age I love these people and we always have a good time together.

I just finished this puzzle tonight before I started writing this post.

Thankful Thursday

As I sit writing this post it is late Christmas evening.  It's been a good day.  Here are some things I am thankful for this week and they are in no particular order.

Jesus.  I think so often I forget how much He has done for me.  He left the splendor of heaven to become a human and to die for my sins.  And now I am reconciled to God and will get to spend eternity with Him and with all the saved!  What a gift!!!

Our Lucy! Sometimes this little one can aggravate the fire out of me.  But mostly she gives me joy and comfort and lots of laughter.

My dishwasher just chimed to signal the cycle is done.  I am very thankful for my dishwasher and feel so blessed to not have to wash dishes by hand all the time.  We bought a new one this year and I am very pleased with it.  It washes better than any one I've had before.  Sometimes it's the simple things that bring the most joy.

My family, of course.  We had lunch with my mother-in-law on Christmas.  We spoke, texted, and/or Marco Polo'd with both girls on Christmas.  Texted with my brother and talked with my sister.  I sent bunches of texts of Merry Christmas out this morning and have been receiving many back throughout the whole day.  Oh and of course, my grandson, Colton!  He is a treasure!

Christmas Presents were fun this year.  I got a favorite candle and can't wait to burn it.  Plans are to do that in my little office at church after the new year starts. I also got a book and a new 40 oz mug that I love. Those were from my girls.  I bought several things for myself in the past week and hubby bought a new i-pad and accessories for himself for Christmas.

Feeling very blessed this evening before heading for bed. What are you thankful for this evening?  Thanks for visiting.  Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night,

Cathy

Thankful Thursday

 Things I'm thankful for:

    *  God is always with us - He doesn't always take us out of our problems, but He always will walk through them with us.  (How do people live this life without Him)

    *    Day trip we took yesterday to a small area of Amish stores and some residents.  We went to a General Store and a Bakery.  I bought some cheese, ham, butter,  yellow tomatoes, chia seeds, and whoopie pies.  It's been quite awhile since I've had a whoopie pie and it was delicious!

    *   On this same trip, we saw the cutest thing.  As we were heading back towards home, we were behind a school bus.  They stopped, and as we were watching, about 7-8 little dogs came running down the driveway towards the bus and the child getting off.  They were the cutest little things and they just looked so happy running toward their child.  This scene just made us all so happy.  Puppies are the best and I'm so thankful for ours too.

    *   My new yarn winder.  I ripped out the afghan I was making and rather than winding them in balls, I instead used the yarn winder.  It's actually kind of fun and it is so fast and easy.  I'm also using it to wind up my partial skeins of yarn, so I can neaten up my yarn stash storage shelves. This is good because, it's fun, it's helping me to get the restart on my afghan, plus it's helping me with cleaning up my craft room.

    *    Always my family, friends, and you, my blogging friends.

So what are you thankful for this week?  I would love to hear about it.  Thanks for visiting.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Click above to link up

1.What was the best (or one of the best) summers of your life? Tell us why. I don't remember any certain summer as being the best of my life.  I enjoyed summer more when I was younger maybe.  But actually I love all the seasons and am just happy for each day of life, no matter the season.

2. When you have a trip coming up do you make a list and check it twice to ensure you don't forget anything? My husband makes the lists (one for each of us) for our trips, but we both follow them.  Or are you a 'throw whatever you can think of into the suitcase at the last minute' kind of packer? I'm more the last minute girl, but I make sure I check off everything on hubby's lists before we leave. When returning from a trip do you unpack immediately or leave the suitcase right where it lands? It all depends on how tired I am when we arrive home.

3. What's your favorite food or beverage made with lemons? Is that a flavor you enjoy? My favorite would probably be strawberry lemonade. I'm not sure there's much of anything else I use lemon in.

4. When was the last time you had to make lemonade out of lemons, figuratively speaking I mean? I can't think of a thing right now.

5. Did you like school growing up? Yes, mostly. Why or why not? I always enjoyed being with my friends. I especially liked grade school and junior high.  I wasn't quite as thrilled with high school, but it was okay.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I stopped by my sisters house a couple of times and played with this
handsome guy. He misses his dad and mom when they are not home.
By the way, my brother-in-law came home yesterday.  He's doing well,
but he is facing some more procedures in the future.  I so appreciate
everyone's prayers.

While I was there, I "stole" some tomatoes from their graden.

I also walked to the back of her property and caught these cows trying to stay in the shade.

I think someone was not very happy with me for not letting
him go with me, but that part of their land is not all fenced in,
I made it up to him by playing ball with him for a few minutes.  lol

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.

Bits of This and That

Good Morning Friends:

It's Monday morning and I'm linking up with Hello Monday.  We had a nice weekend and I'm going to share a little bit with you.

Friday morning hubby and I had a chiropractor appointment and after having to postpone it for 2 weeks, it was needed and enjoyed.  After that we picked up hubby's mom and we went to Fazoli's for lunch and some great conversation.  After that, I dropped MIL off at home and then dropped hubby off at home and I went to Walmart.  We had a rather large list of things to get.  I didn't get everything, but I definitely got what we needed. I did some cleaning and some TV watching and some laundry and reading too.

Saturday I finished a book and started another.  Hubby had to go to church to pre-record the Sunday morning sermon for FB and YouTube and I needed to run copies of the bulletin and Sunday morning's Sermon Notes. (I'll post the YouTube video of the sermon at the bottom of this post for anyone who may be interested)  After that we picked up some lunch from Buffalo Wild Wings and the evening was pretty much a repeat of Friday evening.

Sunday we had church and then grabbed a bite and came home and rested and I finished my book.  After evening service we watched some TV and I did some crocheting.  Here's a photo of my current WIP.

While we were watching TV and I was
crocheting, this is what Lucy was doing.

Just the kind of weekend we like.  Oh, and we got our dishwasher delivered and installed on Thursday.  I now have a fully operational kitchen again.  lol   Thanks for visiting.

Friday Favorites - Photos

I've been seeing Friday Favorites posts for quite awhile now and decided I would join in today. So, I'm linked up with Andrea and Erika

Here are a few of my favorite recent photos:

Lucy's new harness. Unless it would come unhooked, I don't think she can get out of this one.
But if she would get out the door, it also has her name and my phone number on it.
Hope they are never needed.

I love these beautiful flowers on a neighbor's mail box.

Kelli gave me this Bible Study for Mother's
Day...we'll be starting it soon. It's a favorite
to me to do Bible studies with her.

Roses at church

My favorite tree in our yard and I especially love watching birds building
nests in the bird houses.

Current favorite book I'm reading.

Thankful Thursday

A few things I am thankful for today:

*Health - hubby and I are both feeling much better. We are still struggling some with the coughing, but otherwise, we feel pretty good.

*Crochet Group - It was so good to meet up again with our small crochet group. I've missed everyone the last few weeks.

*Lucy's Summer Haircut -

I think Ms. Lucy is worn out this evening after spending 3 hours with a groomer

*Sunset - What a beautiful sky during the sunset Tuesday night.

*iPad - It is so nice to have an iPad that actually works well.

So what are you thankful for today? Thanks for visiting.
