If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

1. On January 18th we commemorate A.A. Milne's birthday. Milne is the author of the beloved classic
Winnie the Pooh. In many ways Pooh represents innocence and simplicity. His optimism reminds us to appreciate the little things. What are three little things you're appreciating in mid-January?

Good Health,

Warm Home,

Loving Husband

2. Piglet teaches us even the smallest of individuals can achieve big things with the proper amount of determination. How do your current responsibilities make you feel? Mostly I feel that I'm keeping up fairly well.  Currently, I don't feel overwhelmed.

3. Tigger is known for his enthusiasm and energy, his boundless joy and love of life. What's something you're interested in learning more about in this new year? Jesus.  I started yesterday working on the spring Bible Study at our church.  At this point, plans are to do the Kristi McLelland study called "Jesus & Women".  Plus yesterday I ordered a new Devotional by Lisa Harper called "Jesus: A Scandalously Devoted, Conspicuously Uncool, Super-Transparent Homage to Who Our Savior Is and How Much He Loves Us".  Typically I do not do a devotional, but I just couldn't pass this one up.

4. Eeyore, while a melancholy character, teaches us the importance of resilience and perseverance. How do you stay motivated and persevere in difficult circumstances? A lot of prayer!

5. What's the last thing you ate that was made with honey? I had a biscuit with some honey on it with my lunch on Sunday...it was delicious!

Bits of This and That

Happy Monday:

We had a nice weekend.  Mostly it's been quiet, with a few fun things interspersed throughout.

On Friday, I met two of my cousins at a concert in nearby Middletown.  The Methodist Church there has free concerts by various artists on the first Friday of every month. This one was Jimmy Rogers who is a pianist and singer of honky tonk and blues.  His piano playing was awesome and he had a nice voice too.  After that we went to lunch at Cracker Barrel and just had a fun time talking and being together. After that, I met hubby at church and finished up some things there.  Then we came home that evening and watched some TV (getting back into some of the shows we've been binging in the past year).  I also finished the blanket I was making for Lucy.

Look at all those plugs (most will be going away soon when I take down the Christmas stuff)
We're not quite ready to turn off the lights.  lol

I think it's safe to say, she likes the blanket.  A couple times when I was still working on it
and had laid it aside to do something else, I caught her laying on it.

On Saturday, we woke up to some snow, which was pretty much all gone by evening. But Lucy and I went out and took about 20 minute walk in spite of the snow.  Enjoyed every minute of it too.

That afternoon, we grabbed a bite from Freddy's and then spent the rest of the day at home doing laundry, reading and watching TV.  Oh and I also made a pot of potato soup and I've been enjoying that the last couple days.

Sunday we had 2 great services and we had Skyline Chili for lunch and took a nap in the afternoon because neither one of us slept well Saturday night.  I'll post the pre-recorded sermon below.  He started a new series called "Outrageous Grace - Travelling with Jonah".

I received a picture from my daughter of Colton on his first ride on the monorail at Disney World.

I think he likes it!

I finished my 2nd book (this is the first book in the second series I mentioned in my last post) of the year this morning and I have the next downloaded from Libby and onto my Kindle ready for me to start this evening,

So that's pretty much my weekend.  Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What's something you never seem to have enough time for? Honestly, I pretty much have enough time to do anything I really want to do.  The question is, how bad do I want to do it.

2. If you could turn back time and relive just one day in your life, which day would you choose and why? I don't really want to live any one day again that I can think of.  But it would be nice to have one more day with my girls when they were younger and we spent time at Disney World.  Those trips were always such a wonderful time together.  We all had such a love for Disney and it just seemed so magical.

My souvenirs that year was pictures of them in hats from
all over the world.  They were willing to play along with me.
They sure were good sports.

I have many more pictures of Kerri as she was always
willing to pose, especially with the characters.

This is a sight I never tire of.

3. Something you enjoy making that takes a long time to prepare/cook? I've enjoyed some of the soups I've made this winter, but they really don't take that long.  Probably rather than cooking, something that takes a long time is crocheting a baby blanket, but I so love to make them and gift them to others.  Here are some I've made in the last few years.

4. A time recently where you needed/gave yourself a 'time out'? How do you do that? For some reason last Sunday I woke up kind of out of sorts.  I have no idea why.  The best thing for me was to take a short nap and then go out and take a walk with the dog.

5. Something you've done recently that you'd describe as a 'good time'? Most any time I can be with my hubby is a good time.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Friday Foto Friends

Click here or on the button above to join in with Friday Foto Friends.

This is a photo of one of the watercolor paintings my daughter did for me for Christmas.  Dory is one of my favorite Disney animated characters.  For now I may hang it in my office, but ultimately I think it will end up in my bathroom which I hope to do in the blue and yellow colors soon.

I think the skies are beautiful today.  After so many grey days lately, it's wonderful to have bright blue skies.

Thank you for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Hit the button at the top if you'd like to participate in the Wednesday Hodgepodge.

1. Summer is upon us this week in the Northern hemisphere. Tell us three things on your summer bucket list.
I don't really have a bucket list, but I'd like to visit the state parks in our area a few times and go to the river and see the 4th of July parade and fireworks in our area.

2. Something fun you used to do as a kid in the summertime?
Play outside all day and then chase lightening bugs after dark

3. Rooftop or backyard? Why?
Rooftop because I love the views from up high.

4. Do you read food labels? Place importance on them? Make an effort to find out/care about where your food comes from?
I am right now because I am trying to eat low carb.

5. A song you'll have on repeat this summer?
Nothing in particular.  I'm listening to Disney music right now on Pandora.  Disney music almost always makes me happy.  It brings back so many memories of when my girls were younger.

6. Insert your own random thought here.
I don't have a new picture of Colton to post this week, so how about a picture of Lucy.

Nap time with mommy
Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. The month of July was named for Roman Emperor Julius Caesar. He's quoted as saying, 'Experience is the teacher of all things." So what has experience taught you lately?
I prefer what my husband says: Experience is not the best teacher, example is. Learning by example is usually must less painful than experience.

2. Where did you last 'roam'?
2 weeks ago we drove along the Ohio River from Cincinnati through to Madison, Indiana on Friday and then from Cincinati to Maysville, KY and back.  Saw some beautiful and interesting sites along the river.  Hoping to go back again soon and see some more.

3. Speaking of 'Rome'...pizza, pasta, gelato...you can only pick one, which would you choose?
Pizza with extra cheese, mushrooms, and tomatoes

4. 'Rome wasn't built in a day', 'All roads lead to Rome', 'When in Rome...' which 'Roman' idiom have you most recently encountered? Explain.
How about "All roads lead to Rome." Because of that weekend of heading both east and west they still all led us back to home in a days time.

5. What's a movie you've seen or a book you've read, that makes you want to book a trip to Italy?
Can't say I really have much of a desire to go to Italy.   But actually "Rome Adventure with Troy Donahue and Suzanne Pleshette used to be a favorite movie of mine.  I haven't seen it in years though.

6. Walt's original Disneyland opened almost sixty years ago, on July 17, 1955 Have you ever been to the California park? How about any of the other Disney parks around the world? What's your favorite amusement park ride or attraction?
No, I have never been to Disneyland.  I have, however, been to Disney World many times.  Of course, if you've ever been here before, you probably already know this.  My favorite ride or attraction, would be The Haunted Mansion and Space Ship Earth in EPCOT.  You know, this is really hard for me to answer because I love so many of them.  It would be so much easier to say which one I don't like, because there are very few.

7. It's that time of year...when were you last bitten or stung?
Out in my own yard on one of my fingers by a mosquito.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I finally opened my Etsy Shop.  I only have 5 items listed, but at least it's open.  If you're interested, it's called "Simple Treasures by Cat",  Here's a link.

Half-Past Kissin' Time

I love Friday Fragments.  Although, I must say I forgot about them this week until just now.  Lunch time at work.  So anyway, here's a few things.

*I got my copy of "Frozen" in the mail yesterday.  I saw it in the theater, but now I know the music and I can't wait to see it again.  Kerri is coming over to spend the night tomorrow night and I think this is what we'll be doing.  Yay!!  I love a movie night with my girls!!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

It's true.  I am getting old.  I forgot all about the Hodgepodge.  Well, better late than never, I guess.

1. March is known as the windy month. Which of the following phrases best fits your March so far...'throw caution to the wind', 'three sheets to the wind', 'run like the wind', or 'see which way the wind blows'?
See which way the wind blows...I pretty much just try to go with the flow as much as possible.

2. Your favorite green food? Your favorite dish made with your favorite green food?
Iceburg Lettuce....a big tossed salad is the way I like it best.

3. Ever been locked out of your home-car-office-anywhere? Do tell!
Yes, I've been locked out of my car and my office.  Fortunately, there are 2 other people at work who have keys to my office, so that has never been a problem.  I've had 2 call the police (and not the ones I work with) to unlock my car before.  Rather embarrassing.  Hope not to do that again.

4. Yoda, Kermit, Shrek, The Wicked Witch of the West, Oscar the Grouch, The Grinch, or Mike Wasowski (Monsters Inc.)...of the green characters listed, which one's your favorite and why?
Mike Wasowski.  Because he's a Disney character, of course.  And Billy Crystal does his voice and I love this song.

5. "The first task of a leader is to keep hope alive."~Joe Batten Do you agree? Why or why not?
I agree.  Without hope, you've already lost, in my opinion.

6. Share a favorite song with an emotion in it's title.
Softly and Tenderly, sung here by The Martins

7. What's a road trip you'd like to take?
I'd like to talk about a month long trip driving from here to California and back.  Taking the northern route out and then the southern route on the way back along with some little out-of-the-way excursions all along the way.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I just found out Beth Moore has a brand new Bible Study coming out in May.  At least now I know what our Bible Study will be this fall.  It's called "Children of the Day" and it's on 1 & 2 Thessalonians.

Friday Fragments

Half-Past Kissin' Time

**It's time for Friday Fragments. Why not click the button and join in with Mrs4444's for all the fun.

**I'm sitting here listening to Disney music while working. I love listening to Disney music. It just makes me happy.

**Hubby and I are trying to decide what to do about going to Florida this spring for Kelli's graduation. I mean, we are going. We just haven't decided if we want to connect it with a vacation now, or just go for a few days and then do vacation this fall, like last year. That's what I'm leaning towards. We definitely want to go to Walt Disney World this year for vacation. That has been our plan for quite awhile. It's hard to be that close this spring (Kelli's college is less than an hour away) and not go. But I really want to see WDW decorated for Christmas. I've seen so many pictures and it looks so beautiful. Plus it wouldn't be near as hot.

**We're also waiting for our daughter to make up her mind about whether she will be coming home or if she is staying in Florida. That makes a difference of whether we can drive our car or if we're going to have to buy a new van. We plan to buy a new van either way, but are hoping we can wait until the fall. More time to save money for a bigger down payment. lol

Decisions, decisions. Life is full of them.

Have a great weekend Everyone!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What is something you'll never forget about the age you are right now?
I don't know, I can't remember!

Pinterest!
 2. What's a household chore you've never done? How have you managed that???
I have no idea. And I really don't want to know, because if I found out I haven't done something I should, then that means I may have to start doing it and I definitely do not want any more household chores.  ha

3. Does nature shape our personalities more than nurture? Explain?
That's a debate that I don't really have an answer for.   Since our girls are adopted, that is something we have talked about off and on over the years.  I think both probably shape us equally. I see signs of us in their personalities and they have since met some of their biological family and they say they see similarities there too. So as I said, I think it's both.

4. Friday (February 28th) is 'Something on a Stick Day'...funny because Zoanna over at A Penchant for Pens recently sent me an idea for a question relating to this topic. What's your favorite food eaten on a stick?
A Mickey Bar eaten while at Disney World.

My first ever Mickey Bar eaten in 2008

5. Which of your five senses do you treasure most, and why?
Sight, I think.  Because my mother is losing her sight and I know how hard that has been for her.  Although she is absolutely amazing.

6. What's the best music, theatre, or sporting venue you've been to? What made it great?
That Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH.  Why? Because it was filled to almost capacity with women who had come for a weekend of "Women of Faith."  Awesome!  Nothing quite like an arena full of women praising the Lord.

7. It's the last week of the month...in five words or less bid adieu to your February.
You have been rather disappointing!

Have a great day!!
