If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Just for Fun!

I have posted this several times on my blog and I still love it and it makes me laugh, so here it is again.  I also found the little poster and it's the first time I've posted it.  Hope you enjoy and laugh along with me!

My husband found this and used it in a sermon in 2008. I loved it so much then and posted it. I decided I wanted to share it with you again. Hope it makes you laugh like it does me.

Ever wonder what it would’ve been like if the wise men had been women? When they arrived at the manger, you can bet they would have:

1. asked for directions;
2. arrived on time;
3. helped deliver the baby;
4. cleaned the stable;
5. brought practical gifts; and
6. made a casserole!

And a couple of our ladies added another one.
7. They would have made reservations ahead of time!

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have many opportunities to laugh today!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Hello Summer! In the eastern hemisphere anyway. What's something on your summer bucket list? Do you have an actual summer bucket list? If not, use your hypothetical list. I don't have a bucket list but I do love to take day trips to places in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky and hope to do that a few times over the next couple of months.  Also, I will be going to Texas next month for my daughter's wedding.

2. What for you is the defining scent of summer? Hotdogs and hamburgers on the grill.

3. What's a (music, food, wine, or flower) festival happening in your part of the country that you would like to attend if tickets/travel/timing was no object? I hope to be out to watch the local fireworks on the 4th and I would love to catch a parade too.

4. Apparently a military whistle blower claims the US has a UFO retrieval program. What say you? Do you believe aliens are out there? I don't know, but I don't think I'd be terribly surprised if there were some.  You do know that our newest military branch is called the U.S. Space Force, right?  I think that's kinda cool.  Here's a link if you want to check it out.  Now, I'm not saying they are looking for aliens, but I loved learning we actually have a U.S. Space Force.

5. Besides your wedding day and the birthdays of any children you may have, what are three of your top experiences in life? Any of our several Disney World Trips with our girls and any other family members we met there.  Any of our trips to Myrtle Beach and also our vacations to the mountains of North Carolina. I just really love any vacation with family and any vacation when it's just the 2 of us.

Christmas Conversation

I borrowed these questions from Myra's blog, Respice, Prospice and you can click here to see her questions and answer on her blog or on your own.  I did ask her and she gave me permission.  She said she would be giving her answers on Thursday or Friday.

Message from Myra "Today's questions are taken from The Christmas Conversation Piece, a little book that's been part of my holiday collection for a while now.

You can choose to answer any one -- or all.   Perhaps you'd enjoying posing them to your family and friends! I chose to answer all of them here on my blog."

You're the author of a new Christmas novel that you hope will one day become a classic. What would you choose as the setting for your Christmas story?

I believe I would like my story to be in the Smokey's but I have no idea what the story would be.

Someone has graciously offered to make you and your entire family a Christmas quilt. It will be made up of many quilt squares, each one representing a different family member.  What specific design and image would you want on your square?

Actually, I have a quilt like that.  It was made for my mom and dad and has pictures of all of us in the family.  When mom and dad passed, I was given the quilt.  I love it.

Which of the following three events would you most enjoy attending during the holiday season:
A stage production of Dickens' A Christmas Carol ...
a choral concert of Handel's Messiah ...
or a performance of Tchaikovsky's ballet The Nutcracker?

Dickens' A Christmas Carol, for sure.

If you won $5,000 the week before Christmas, where do you think you'd go for a Christmas vacation?

Check the answer to the first question, Christmas in the Smokey's.  We did that with the girls and all of Tracy's family in 2006 and it was so fun!
Cousins with the grandparents at the Aquarium in Gatlinburg

Cousins in front of the fireplace at our hotel.

If you were playing Name That Tune! which Christmas song do you think you could identify in the least number of notes?

Probably Silent Night

Thanks Myra for sharing.  This was really fun!

It's -8 here this morning and we're supposed to get wind gusts up in the 50's today.  We have some snow and it's drifted up on our front porch, which normally stays pretty clear.  I took down at the outdoor decorations last night so nothing would get broken.  We're planning to stay inside for the day and hubby's going to make chili for us today.  Stay safe and warm wherever you are today!

Something Fun

My husband found this and used it in a sermon in 2008. I loved it so much then and posted it. I decided I wanted to share it with you again (in 2012). ( in 2021) and again today.. Hope it makes you laugh like it does me.

Ever wonder what it would’ve been like if the wise men had been women? When they arrived at the manger, you can bet they would have:

1. asked for directions;
2. arrived on time;
3. helped deliver the baby;
4. cleaned the stable;
5. brought practical gifts; and
6. made a casserole!

And a couple of our ladies at church added another one.

7. They would have made reservations ahead of time!

Below are three more pictures of nativities we have.
We've displayed this one for years.  I don't even remember where I got it.  It's on the top of my piano and that candy cane was painted by my grandson last year and gifted to us.

I love this lighted one.  I bought it a couple years ago at
 the Christmas Mouse Shop in Myrtle Beach/

This one was painted by my mom (actually mom, grandma and my older sister painted
sets of this and I believe this is a compilation of them and the manger was made by my dad) and was there through many years of growing up.  I ended up with it a couple of years ago and really treasure it.

Thanks for visiting.

Fun with Flowers

My sister asked me to go to a flower arranging class with her on Saturday at Oberer's Florist.  Their advertisement showed a beautiful arrangement of roses and carnations and I'm thinking there is no way I could do something like that.  But, I didn't want to tell my sister no, so I went.

Even when I got there and saw all the people and the tables set up with the flower pots and greenery sitting around and buckets of flowers for us to choose from, I was thinking, what in the world am I doing here.  I can't do this.  I have absolutely no talent for this.  I've never been able to make a pretty arrangement.  I just kinda stick them in a vase or something when I get flowers.

Anyway, I was there, so I participated.  And you know what, it was really fun.  It was fun just doing something different with my sister and the people were so nice and patient.  And everyone was involved in what they were making and not watching everyone else.  So it was okay and I even told her if she wanted to do it again sometime just let me know.

Here are a few pictures from that day.

Each participant started with a spot set up like this
Here's one of the tables set up to start

You can see my roses and some of the carnations I picked and we've started adding the new from the table

This is my sister's in the process

Starting to add the roses

This is mine

Mine from another angle

This is one that one of the employees made along with us

My sister and I with our completed arrangements in their travel boxes.
So, if you ever get the chance to take a flower arranging class, I highly recommend it.  It was a lot of fun.  Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.

Puppies. And Presents And Frozen, Oh My!

Carolyn and Carina came to visit last night. I haven't seen them since October. I can't believe how much Carina has grown up since then. She is talking so much more. She is 2 and 1/2 and is so adorable!  She totally loves our puppy and they play and play. Lucy was so worn out when she left, she didn't hardly move a muscle all night. I dare say Carina was probably the same.  lol

Lucy warn out in bed.

Carina is all about Minnie Mouse this year.  So of course nana and poppy had to feed that love. I mean who do you think got her her very first Minnie Mouse. We have successful trained another Disney lover!  We got her Minnie Mouse PJ's and Minnie Mouse panties (she's starting to potty train some). She also got little Minnie Mouse earrings and a Minnie Mouse doll that talks and she can change her clothes. I think that was the big success! She was having so much fun playing with her.

Carina is very good at opening presents!

Still working at it.

Mommy putting her new earrings in.  Pizza all over her face.

Minnie Mouse

I think she loves her new Minnie Mouse

Later we decided to watch Frozen and Carina was completely enthralled, especially during the music parts. Actually, I'm not sure who liked it most. Kelli and Carolyn (both age 23) sang every word to every song. It was hysterical!  At one point Carolyn and Carina were dancing and spinning all around. As I said, I'm not sure who loved it best. All I can say is hubby and I were given a great show!

Watching Frozen

She'd get up and play, but when the music was on, she couldn't take her eyes off the screen.

See what I mean!

I think she was one happy little girl last night and I know this was one happy nana!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What lesson has failure taught you?
That I don't have to be perfect to be loved by Jesus.  That He loves and accepts me and forgives me even when I mess up big time.

2. What decision are you glad you made?
I'm giving you more than 1.  It's my blog and I can do it, if I want to.
1. To serve the Lord Jesus Christ
2. To marry my husband
3. To adopt our 2 girls
Without a doubt these are the best decisions of my life.

3. I've been a little bit surprised to see fully lit and decorated Christmas trees popping up for the past several weeks in friend's Instagram feeds. So tell the truth-is your tree up and decorated, and if so when did that happen? If not, when will you be decking the halls?
No, mine is not up, but it probably would have been if I weren't on vacation.

4. Solitaire-Poker-Rummy-Hearts-Go Fish-Old Maid...which game of cards would you most like to join?
Solitaire

5. This question comes to you courtesy of a Facebook friend, who once upon a time had a blog...When you're feeling stressed do you snack a lot or are you more the 'can't eat' type?
I snack a lot.

6. Have you ever reviewed a product or service on line? Was your review favorable or less than favorable?
I've reviewed books and also some products.  Most were favorable.

7. What was the best conversation you had yesterday?
Hubby and I conversing about the things we want to do at our house.  The young girl and her baby are in the process of moving out.  She got her apartment today.  We are so happy for her and also for us.  We'll be painting and who knows what all.  This is exciting to me.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Hubby and I are also talking about getting another dog.  Lily's been gone about a month now and we know we want another dog.  Neither one of us can imagine us not having a dog.  We've been watching people on the beach with their dogs and we've talked to people on the street and in parks when we see one we like the looks of.  We've asked what they are and what their personality is like.  We've talked to 2 different people with shih tzu, which is the size dog we are looking for. They had nothing but good to say about them.  I'm thinking this may be the kind we will be getting. My brother and sister-in-law used to have a shih tzu and we had a lhasa apso, which is similar in looks. April, I know you have one.  I'd love to know the pros and cons of having a shih tzu.  Anybody?

Fun Stuff

Saturday night my oldest daughter and I had a mother-daughter date.  We had dinner at Cracker Barrel and talked and talked.  We then went to the movies.  Just for fun we watched the new Disney movie, "Planes."  It was really cute.

Here we are at Cracker Barrel

And This Is How It All Began

(I got this in an email and just had to share.)

In ancient Israel, it came to pass that a trader by the name of Abraham Com did take unto himself a young wife by the name of Dorothy. And Dot Com was a comely woman, broad of shoulder and long of leg. Indeed, she was often called Amazon Dot Com.

And she said unto Abraham, her husband, "Why dost thou travel so far from town to town with thy goods when thou canst trade without ever leaving thy tent?" And Abraham did look at her as though she were several saddle bags short of a camel load, but simply said, "How, dear?"
And Dot replied, "I will place drums in all the towns and drums in between to send messages saying what you have for sale, and they will reply telling you who hath the best price. The sale can be made on the drums and delivery made by Uriah's Pony Stable (UPS)."
Abraham thought long and decided he would let Dot have her way with the drums. And the drums rang out and were an immediate success. Abraham sold all the goods he had at the top price, without ever having to move from his tent.
To prevent neighboring countries from overhearing what the drums were saying, Dot devised a system that only she and the drummers knew. It was known as Must Send Drum Over Sound (MSDOS), and she also developed a language to transmit ideas and pictures - Hebrew To The People (HTTP).
And the young men did take to Dot Com's trading as doth the greedy horsefly take to camel dung. They were called Nomadic Ecclesiastical Rich Dominican Sybarites, or NERDS.
And lo, the land was so feverish with joy at the new riches and the deafening sound of drums that no one noticed that the real riches were going to that enterprising drum dealer, Brother William of Gates, who bought off every drum maker in the land. Indeed he did insist on drums to be made that would work only with Brother Gates' drumheads and drumsticks.

And Dot did say, "Oh, Abraham, what we have started is being taken over by others." And Abraham looked out over the Bay of Ezekiel , or eBay as it came to be known.
He said, "We need a name that reflects what we are."
And Dot replied, "Young Ambitious Hebrew Owner Operators.""YAHOO," said Abraham.
And because it was Dot's idea, they named it YAHOO Dot Com. Abraham's cousin, Joshua, being the young Gregarious Energetic Educated Kid (GEEK) that he was, soon started using Dot's drums to locate things around the countryside.
It soon became known as God's Own Official Guide to Locating Everything (GOOGLE). That is how it all began. And that's the truth....

Arachnohobia

So this morning, we get a knock on our bedroom door.  It's Carolyn.  There is a big wolf spider in her bedroom and she needs the spider slayer (hubby) to come take care of it. When we came out of our room, she was standing in the hallway watching the spider so it couldn't hide (like it did yesterday) So hubby (the spider slayer) braved the wild and killed the spider for her.  She was so scared! And I have to admit, I didn't go anywhere near her room until the spider slayer had taken care of the problem.

Guess what though....the baby was still in her crib in the room with the spider!  Fortunately, it was no where near her and she slept through the whole thing.  I'm not sure Carolyn or I could have gone in and gotten her if she had started crying.  It's funny now....but it sure wasn't then with that big old hairy spider on the loose.

Yep, I think that pretty much says it all.  My girls either had to get their daddy or kill the suckers themselves.  Actually, they have been known to kill spiders for me before.  haha  I hope Carina will be a brave soul and help her mama out like my girls did.

What about you?  Are you afraid of spiders?

Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

It's Friday Frag time again. Why don't you click the button above and visit Mrs. 4444's at Half-Past Kissin' Time and play along.

I don't have much to frag about this week, so I thought I'd share some funny and cute stuff I've seen on FB this week.

True, True!

This just makes me smile.

This is so definitely true!

I used to have a puppy that looked just like this.

And here is the sweet little thing that I am enjoying and so blessed to be spending time with.  Isn't she just the cutest?
Playing with a balloon for the first time.

Have a great week!!
